Top 10 Most Satanic Bands

For everyone who wants to know about some really evil bands, whether you like them or want to stay away from them.

The Top Ten
  1. Gorgoroth

Gorgoroth is a Norwegian black metal band based in Bergen. It was formed in 1992 by guitarist Infernus and is named after a plateau of darkness in Mordor, a fictional land in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. Gorgoroth is known for its raw sound and controversial live performances.

One of the worst bands out there. They worship basically empty space because Satan is not real, and that "black mass" nonsense was some of the stupidest stuff I've ever heard of. They think that putting sheep heads on stakes and "crucifying" nude models makes them metal. They're posers if they think that wearing spikes and worshiping an absent deity makes them metal.

Being metal is about making metal music, not worshiping a so-called "Satan" and trying to look hardcore just to make profits. It's ridiculous. Also, they profess to opposing Christianity, yet they're doing exactly what Christians do, except with Satanism. They're trying to force Satanism down people's throats, or through their ears rather, and are doing a horrible job at it.

  2. Mayhem

Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1984 in Oslo. They're regarded as one of the pioneers of the Norwegian black metal scene. The band is notorious for the violent and tragic events associated with its early history, including the 1991 suicide of vocalist Per Dead Ohlin and the 1993 murder... read more

Now, I've listened to some of the bands on here that are deemed Satanic. I've never really listened to any of these bands in the top ten more than once, except for Ghost. Now, black metal isn't my cup of tea, but I'll listen to it. And Mayhem is the only one I probably won't listen to again.

Mayhem is just too horrible for me. One of their lead singers used to dress like a corpse, starting the "corpse paint" trend in black metal. He also cut himself on stage with glass and buried his clothes to get the "stench of death" on them. He would also throw pig heads at the crowd to weed out the posers. This guy is messed up.

I'm seriously surprised to see how this band is still going on today. After all the screwed-up crap they did back then (lead singer kills himself, guitarist takes a picture of the lead singer's dead body and places it as the cover of one of their albums, guitarist openly admits that he's a Satanist and wants to spread hatred, sorrow, and evil, bassist kills guitarist, the list goes on).

  3. Deicide

Deicide is an American death metal band from Tampa, Florida, formed in 1987 by guitarist brothers Eric and Brian Hoffman and drummer Steve Asheim. Vocalist and bassist Glen Benton joined shortly after, and the band officially adopted the name Deicide in 1989. Known for their blasphemous and anti-Christian... read more

Their lyrics are completely against Christianity. The singer has even said he was a Satanist and has repeatedly branded an inverted cross into his head. These guys are the most satanic band ever.

I used to listen to this band not knowing it was one of the most satanic bands. This is one of the few bands too satanic to listen to. I'll listen to Slayer, Venom, and Mercyful Fate, but not Deicide.

I don't think there is a single song that doesn't bash Christianity. Their first single was Lunatic of God's Creation. And every album since then has been just as anti-God.

  4. Behemoth

Behemoth is a Polish blackened death metal band from Gdańsk, formed in 1991. They have been instrumental in establishing and popularizing the Polish extreme metal underground scene.

The very few songs I listened to were so scary that I had to turn them off, even though I'm a Satanist who actually believes that the devil and god exist. But I might try listening to them again.

I will just have to make sure that I don't get too scared.

If anyone asks me to list my favorite Satanic bands, the first one to be called out will always be Behemoth. Their music alone is enough to kill Christianity. The song "Lucifer" is a must-listen.

They scare the crap out of me. First off, sacrilegious names and symbols like the upside-down cross, star, and the goat head are bad enough. They literally have an album called "The Satanist." Number 1 EVIL band, stay away from them!

  5. Ghost

Ghost is a Swedish heavy metal band that was formed in Linköping in 2008. The band features five masked instrumentalists known as the Nameless Ghouls and a lead character known as Papa Emeritus. Each album cycle introduces a new iteration of Papa Emeritus, though all are portrayed by frontman Tobias... read more

No band portrays the true cause of theistic Satanism in the candid manner that Ghost does. Without these artists, we would not have songs like "Ritual," "Year Zero," and "Monstrance Clock."

Through their Satanic efforts, the dark lord Lucifer is honored and exalted by those who adore and vilify his grace alike. Papa Emeritus II of Ghost has foreseen the future of man, and it is grim for those who have not accepted Lucifer and the five Kings of Hell into their broken souls.

Ghost is a band of true embodiments of the Lord Lucifer's unholy labor, and with their help, his work is achieved. Lyrics such as "Come together as one, for Lucifer's son" and "Hail Satan, Archangelo!" shape the way into the mind of the sheep of the earth through their catchy, laid-back metal and charmingly evil lyrics, as well as the technicality of the musicians themselves. A satanic clergy and enigma, which is meditated upon by the masses. Every listen and thought towards them is a testament of goodwill to Lucifer and the five kings.

The simple fact of the matter is that Ghost remains the pinnacle of Luciferian Satanism or "Goat Worship" music available. Pick up Infestissumam today.

  6. Marduk

Marduk is a black metal band from Norrköping, Sweden. The band was formed in 1990 and released their first album, Dark Endless, in 1992. Their name comes from the Babylonian god Marduk, a patron deity of Babylon.

True Satanists to the core! Most black metal bands stray from the Satanic banner and become new age hippies. NOT MARDUK! Hail Mary from Serpent Sermon is the most satanic song ever made!

These guys are very Satanic. Just listen to their lyrics. I don't think Antim Grahan is Satanic though.

Marduk is untouchable, matchless, and legendary.

  7. Dark Funeral

Dark Funeral is a Swedish black metal band from Stockholm, Sweden, founded by guitarists Blackmoon and Lord Ahriman in 1993. They emerged during the second wave of black metal, establishing a reputation for their intense sound and theatrical stage presence. The band has released several acclaimed albums... read more

Holy hell, this band is awesome! The very first true Satan worship metal band I've ever listened to, and the first album caught my heart! Hail Satan!

Dark Funeral is one of the best Satanic bands.

The logo is Satanic, and so are their songs.

  8. Nunslaughter

Nunslaughter is an American death metal band that originated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1987. The band is recognized for its raw sound and prolific release history, including numerous demos, EPs, and split records. They are active participants in the underground metal scene and maintain a strong... read more

This band is over the top and addictive. Collectors go nuts over them, and their catalog is worth it. The lyrics, imagery, artwork, and the music itself are totally satanic.

Of all the bands on the list, which name can you not drop in normal conversation? Nunslaughter.

I saw this band in a house, and they kicked ass. Later that month, I held a black mass in my backyard. I think they are pretty satanic. The guy held his drumsticks up like an inverted cross and everything!

BEST BAND EVER! Their songs are pretty catchy. I could listen to them until the day I die. They are by far the most Satanic band ever.

If you hate evil, love Christians, love "Jehovah," hate demons, or hate Satan, this band is not for you.

  9. Mercyful Fate

Mercyful Fate was a Danish heavy metal band from Copenhagen, formed in 1981 by vocalist King Diamond and guitarist Hank Shermann. The band was influential in the development of black metal and known for its occult-themed lyrics and theatrical stage presence. They released several acclaimed albums, including... read more

This is the only band that should be in the top spot. The rest that came after (all of the so-called "black metal" bands wearing corpse paint that are pretty much a parody) copied their style.

Yeah, Alice Cooper, Kiss, and Arthur Brown may have worn the paint first, but Mercyful Fate took it to the next level, as well as the Satanic lyricism, forming a new package. Why on earth is Ghost above Mercyful Fate when everyone knows they are a mix of Mercyful Fate and Blue Öyster Cult?

This is one of the only actual Satanic bands on this list. All the others are only contributing to the stereotype.

  10. Acheron

Acheron is an American death and black metal band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania that was formed by Vincent Crowley in 1988. The band is known for its Satanic themes and was originally associated with the Church of Satan. Acheron released several influential albums including Rites of the Black Mass and... read more

I'm honestly surprised these guys are only number 10. Their vocalist used to be a reverend of the Church of Satan, or so I heard.

Not to put Acheron as number 1 here is a travesty. They are about the only ones who sing only about Satan.

  11. The Newcomers
  12. ?

    Linkin Park

Linkin Park is an American alternative rock band formed in Agoura Hills, California, in 1996. 15. Cradle of Filth

Cradle of Filth are a British extreme metal band that formed in Suffolk in 1991. The band's musical style initially stemmed from black metal but later evolved into a more polished blend of gothic metal, symphonic black metal, and other extreme metal subgenres. Over the years, they've become one of the... read more

I'm not into this sort of stuff. I just got curious really after making friends with someone who is. I have listened to one or two Cradle of Filth songs, and so far the best one is Nymphetamine Fix. I love the song, don't know why. I thought Cradle of Filth would be quite depraved but don't seem as bad as some of the others I've just read about.

This stuff is quite heavy and really screechy. A lot of satanic lyrics. British band.

  16. Antim Grahan

I love this song. It has a great riff and a deep atmospheric vibe. It projects the real side of black metal rather than satanic clichés and myth. I usually like melodic metal, and it has some melody to it. I usually prefer un-blackened metal. But this is true art!

Hands up for Antim Grahan. Most talented band I have ever seen. Forever winter. Drummer, guitarist, octopad, vocalist...awesome. Pure symphonic black metal band. We can compare with Dark Funeral, Gorgoroth, and Dimmu Borgir.

In love with Suicide. This song, especially related to convince, suddenly falling in love with a witch.

  17. Suicide Silence

Suicide Silence is an American deathcore band from Riverside, California, formed in 2002. As of 2025, the band has released seven full-length studio albums, one EP, and numerous music videos. They are known for their aggressive sound and have been influential in the deathcore genre.

Ugh, this band sucks. Way too many anti-Christian and anti-religion lyrics.

RIP Mitchell Adam Lucker. 10-20-1984 to 11-01-2012. Legends never die. Stomp on, my friend.

This band is awesome. It calms me down.

  18. Watain

Watain is a Swedish black metal band from Uppsala, formed in 1998. The band's name is taken from a recording by the American black metal group Von. Known for their intense live shows and satanic themes, they are a key figure in the modern black metal scene.

I have seen Watain and listened to them talk about their philosophy. They are, in my opinion, genuine and deserving of #1. The only other on this list that comes close is Mercyful Fate.

The members of this band are all actual theistic Satanists. They are affiliated with the Temple of Black Light, which is probably the most satanic group ever.

If you focus on the lyrics and ideology of the band members, Watain is without a doubt one of the most satanic bands ever. Going to their concerts is like going to a black mass. Hail Satan!

  19. Burzum

Burzum is a Norwegian black metal and dark ambient music project founded by musician and author Varg Vikernes in 1991. The project became a staple of the early Norwegian black metal scene and is considered one of the genre's most influential acts.... read more

His name is Varg Vikernes. One of the most well-known figures in black metal.

Varg is pagan, and he is awesome!

  20. Belphegor

Belphegor is a blackened death metal band from Salzburg, Austria. The band was originally formed in 1991 under the name Betrayer and changed its name to Belphegor in 1993. Their name is inspired by the demon Belphegor, and they are known for their dark themes and intense musical style.

Black/death metal from Austria. Every song is about satanic rituals, violence against Christians, and lots of sexual perversion (sometimes with animals). All album art is evil, but specifically anti-Christian or satanic? Check out the artwork for "The Last Supper" and "Lucifer Incestus."

Blinding blasting, blasphemous lyrics, relentless, and satanic references, and artwork. Awesome and talented band.

  21. Radio Werewolf

Yes! Since when does Heavy Metal have to be the only Satanic music? Why not dark organ Gothic/Deathrock?

  22. Dissection

Dissection was a Swedish extreme metal band formed in 1989 by Jon Nödtveidt. The band disbanded in 2006 following Nödtveidt's suicide. Their music is typically described as "melodic blackened death metal," blending elements of black metal and melodic death metal.

This man killed a guy in order to become a member of a satanic order. He then went to jail to serve his sentence, and after that, he recorded an album called "Reinkaos" (which was completely satanic) with members who were full-on Satanists, and then he killed himself in a satanic ritual. You want more satanic than this?

Dissection needs to be number one and two on this list. Jon would have killed the members of Ghost and eaten them. Jon killed in the name of Satan twice, first someone else, then himself. His suicide note read, "I'm going away, I'm going to Transylvania." What did Ghost ever do? Put on some masks, oh so edgy.

  23. Goatwhore

Goatwhore is an American extreme metal band formed in 1997 in New Orleans, Louisiana by former Acid Bath guitarist Sammy Duet. Goatwhore is known for their fast-paced fusion of black, death, and thrash metal.

The band is known for incorporating... read more

Shagrath has stated that he is a Satanist, but he is not a usual Satanist!

The first time I heard these guys, I was blown away. They are amazing.

Pure historical Satanic imagery and real content in lyrics. I am a Satanic witch. I know culture and history.

  25. Marilyn Manson

Marilyn Manson is an American rock band that formed in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1989. The group was founded by frontman Marilyn Manson and guitarist Daisy Berkowitz. They were originally called Marilyn Manson & the Spooky Kids and built a cult following in the early 1990s through theatrical performances.... read more

Marilyn Manson is no longer a Satanist. He joined the Church of Satan when he was a teen as an act of rebellion against the church and his parents. He is no longer a member and does not promote the occult. He has stated that even though he's not a Christian, he would share most of his ideals with those of Jesus rather than Satan.

He is in no way satanic or evil. The only reason one of his albums is called Antichrist Superstar is because he thought religion was a negative influence on society. How religion has led to many wars and extremist groups like the KKK and Westboro Baptist Church. He also stated that he doesn't promote bad behavior in his fans.

  26. Deathspell Omega

The most intellectual Satanic band on this list!

  27. King Diamond

Kim Bendix Petersen, better known by his stage name King Diamond, is a Danish heavy metal musician. He is known for his extensive vocal range, usually sung in falsetto. Now, this should be number one. Compared to black metal now, it may not be as satanic as the others, but Venom started the black metal genre.

Most of the lyrics are about Satanism.

Very, very, very satanic lyrics, but they are not real Satanists.
