Top 10 Songs that Became Memes

Music has a weird way of sticking with us, but that effect gets totally amplified when the internet gets involved. Ever find yourself humming a silly tune with zero idea why it's in your head? Chances are, it went viral in a meme. These catchy songs and snippets didn't just bring the laughs, they took over our feeds, infiltrated our brains, and became part of online culture.

Whether it's a goofy lyric, an outdated music video, or an iconic melody, certain songs have become inseparable from the hilarious memes they inspired. Which ones make you laugh the hardest?
The Top Ten
1 Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley

I spent half an hour changing the link so that I could send it to others in my Zoom and made it look so good. As I posted it in the chat, they ended the meet. Bro.

But I still love this song and listen to it on repeat, Rickrolling myself technically.

Looking at a beach. 10 seconds later... Never Gonna Give You Up, Never Gonna Let You Down, Never Gonna Say Goodbye, and Hurt You!

This meme will always be a classic to me.

When music was good, back when Rick Astley was young. Also, the best meme in the world. And the best song in the world!

2 All Star - Smash Mouth

Okay, so when I was little and actually liked to eat at McDonald's, they came out with Happy Meals that had Kidz Bop CDs. Being a little kid and not knowing better, I loved my CD, and they had the song All Star, which was the best thing I had ever heard.

I sang along to it whenever I heard it in the store. However, my CD is now missing, and I had not heard the song in forever until I discovered the meme. To this day, All Star is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Somebody once told me the world is gonna roll me. I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed.

3 We are Number One - LazyTown

TheTopTens website except when someone likes a comment, We Are Number One plays.

Also, the Trump "Bing Bong" remix of this song...

They are lying. They are number 3! I don't think Never Gonna Give You Up deserves its spot, but All Star definitely does.

TheTopTens but every time someone votes for something, We Are Number One plays.

4 Darude - Sandstorm

This song is an ultimate weapon for trolls who were asked by someone who wanted to know the title of the song.

One day, I picked up the guitar, then walked to my brother and said, "Ready for a dead meme?"

He said, "..."

I said, "Okay, here we go! It's Darude - Sandstorm," then mindlessly strummed as loud as I could and ran away. Then he said, "Uh, what?"

Guys, NEVER put in what song is in a YouTube video. It will just be Darude - Sandstorm.

5 Roundabout - Yes

I don't really listen to Yes, but I had no idea that the "To Be Continued" song was a Yes song.

One of the few songs on this list, in my opinion, that was already a good song before the memery started.

I'm surprised kids nowadays even know who Yes is.

6 Shooting Stars - Bag Raiders

One of the best memes of 2016. We actually did a video contest at my school last year where several groups had to make a music video. We used this song for part of it and even did video editing to make it look like the protagonist was floating through space.

Even though the memes were great, I love this song.

7 Bring Me to Life - Evanescence

I've seen this meme on YouTube where this song was played over an episode of SpongeBob where Patrick is choking and gasping for air. It was actually really weird but still a really good meme.

I don't see why no one seems to care for this song. It's a masterpiece.

The ultimate emo song. This band is obviously terrible too.

8 Africa - Toto

I bless the memes down in Africa.

9 The Sound of Silence - Simon & Garfunkel

This is probably every kid who has a YouTube channel and loses lots of subs.

Seriously, why do old songs have to be memes? Memes belong to modern-day songs.

10 Gangnam Style - Psy
The Contenders
11 Dragostea Din Tei - O-Zone

I love this song (not just because of the memes).

12 Ocean Man - Ween

Ocean Man. Take me by the hand, lead me to the land that you understand. Ocean Man, the voyage to the corner of the globe is a real trip. Ocean Man, the secrets of a tan man imbued by the sand. Soaking up the thirst of the land.

Ocean Man, can you see the wonders of amazement at the overman...

This song really goes with every ending scene/end credits sequence, doesn't it?

If only they had this in Creature From the Black Lagoon.

13 Let It Grow - The Lorax

My version of this meme song:

You don't know me,
But I'm a random person.
I'm just a random person,
But it seems like Fortnite should just die.
So I say let Fortnite die.

My name is Dan.

And my name's Runo.

Dan and Runo:
We don't give a (beep) about Fortnite,
And that's really good, so we suppose,
We should let Fortnite die!

Let Fortnite die!
Let Fortnite die!

Yusei, Jack, Akiza, Luna, Leo, and Crow:
You can't live if you play Fortnite.
Play a game of Super Smash Bros,
Just one way to know its worth.
Let's celebrate the game's new entry,

14 Snow Halation - Muse (Love Live!)
15 Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Green Day

I walk a lonely street because everyone else broke themselves in their dreams.

American idiots walk on the Boulevard of Broken Dreams only during the holidays.

This is such a great song, though.

16 What is Love - Haddaway
17 Crab Rave - Noisestorm

I played it on New Year's Eve and checked the time of the song so the clock strikes 12 at the drop. It worked! Just start the song right at 11:59:14.

Hail the Crabs. May they live forever.

18 Photograph - Nickelback

Look at this graph... *stupidly stares at you while holding a graph*

19 Let It Go - Frozen

Of course it's here. It's everywhere, but I like Frozen.

20 The Nutshack Theme Song
21 How Could This Happen to Me - Simple Plan

How could this happen to be at No. 18!

22 Bad Apple - Zun
23 Crawling - Linkin Park
24 Fireflies - Owl City
25 Sono Chi No Sadame - Johnny
