Top Ten Musicians Named Paul

A belated sequel to my lists about musicians named Ian and Mick. There are obviously quite a few musicians named Paul, so I wanted to chart them all out. Feel free to add to this list. I don't care if it's their real name or their stage name, as long as it's the name they are most recognized by (i.e. You may not know who Paul Hewson is, but you do know who Bono is.)
The Top Ten
1 Paul McCartney Sir James Paul McCartney (born 18 June 1942) is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer. With John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, he gained worldwide fame with the rock band the Beatles, one of the most popular and influential groups in the history of pop and rock music. One of the most successful composers and performers of all time, he is known for his melodic approach to bass-playing, his versatile and wide tenor vocal range and his musical eclecticism, exploring styles ranging from pre-rock 'n' roll pop to classical and electronica. His songwriting partnership with John Lennon remains the most successful in history

I hate Paul McCartney. He is the worst musician ever. He played in a horrible band called the Beatles. Next, there was only one song that the Beatles wrote. Guess what it is? The auto-tuned Revolution 9! On top of that, he said that he was "More popular than Jesus," which was offensive to me as I am a very religious christian. If you want to listen to some real music, then listen to Justin Bieber or Nicki Minaj. I hope he writes some better songs soon.

He's definitely one of the greats. His new album actually wasn't that bad, in fact I don't even think Get Enough or Fuh You are terrible songs.

The most famous and successful Paul on this list. I think almost everybody knows who he is.

Unless you don't live in some house, how can you not know who he is?

2 Paul Simon Paul Frederic Simon is an American musician, singer-songwriter and actor. Simon's fame, influence, and commercial success began as part of the duo Simon & Garfunkel, formed in 1964 with musical partner Art Garfunkel.

The man behind all of the songs recorded by Simon and Garfunkel, who's also got a really solid solo career as well.

The most haunting, other worldly, insightful, poetic, moving lyrics and music on the planet!

Hello darkness my old friend... Still inspires music today

No one can do music like Paul Simon. He's in a class of his own.

3 Paul Weller John William "Paul" Weller Jr is an English singer-songwriter and musician. Weller achieved fame with the punk rock/new wave/mod revival band The Jam.

The Jam, the Style Council, his solo career - overall, he's got a really solid body of work.

4 Paul Butterfield

One of the best blues harmonica players of the 1960s. Also, he's the leader of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, one of the first proper electric blues rock bands.

5 Paul Rodgers Paul Bernard Rodgers is an English singer, songwriter and musician, best known for his success in the 1960s and 1970s as vocalist of Free and Bad Company.

The lead singer of Free and Bad Company; I really dig his voice.

6 Paul Anka Paul Albert Anka, OC is a Canadian American singer, songwriter, and actor. Anka became famous during the late 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s with hit songs like "Diana", "Lonely Boy", "Put Your Head on My Shoulder", and " Having My Baby".

One of the most successful singer songwriters in pop history. His most famous creation probably has to be "My Way" by Frank Sinatra.

7 Paul Kossoff Paul Francis Kossoff was an English blues rock guitarist. He was most notably a member of the band Free.

The lead guitarist for Free (and a guitarist that doesn't get enough respect in my opinion). Free actually had two guys named Paul, which almost never happens.

8 Paul Simonon Paul Gustave Simonon is an English musician and artist best known as the bassist for the punk rock band The Clash.

The bassist for The Clash. Before he joined the group, he had never played bass before, and he learned his bass parts from Mick Jones (the guitarist) by rote.

9 Paul Stookey

Love Paul Stookey.

Peter, Paul, & Mary

10 Paul Cook

The drummer for the Sex Pistols. Most people have the illusion that the Pistols were completely incompetent musicians, but he is actually a really steady drummer. He and Steve Jones fed well off each other.

The Contenders
11 Paul Stanley Stanley Bert Eisen, known professionally by his stage name Paul Stanley, is an American musician, singer, songwriter and painter best known for being the rhythm guitarist and co-lead singer of the rock band Kiss.

His real name is Stanley Eisen; he hated his name, so he changed it to Paul Stanley. Interestingly enough, Ace Frehley's real name is Paul; he got his new name in high school because he was an "ace" at getting people dates.

12 Paul Gray Paul Dedrick Gray, also known as The Pig or by his number #2, was an American musician, best known as the bassist and one of the founding members of the Grammy Award-winning metal band Slipknot.
13 Paul Di'Anno Paul Andrews better known as Paul Di'Anno, is an English singer best known as the first vocalist to record with heavy metal band Iron Maiden, from 1978 to 1981.
14 Paul Young
15 Paul Samwell-Smith

A founding member of The Yardbirds

16 Paul Potts
17 Paul Kantner
18 Paul Shaffer
