Top Ten Musicians Named Paul
A belated sequel to my lists about musicians named Ian and Mick. There are obviously quite a few musicians named Paul, so I wanted to chart them all out. Feel free to add to this list. I don't care if it's their real name or their stage name, as long as it's the name they are most recognized by (i.e. You may not know who Paul Hewson is, but you do know who Bono is.)I hate Paul McCartney. He is the worst musician ever. He played in a horrible band called the Beatles. Next, there was only one song that the Beatles wrote. Guess what it is? The auto-tuned Revolution 9! On top of that, he said that he was "More popular than Jesus," which was offensive to me as I am a very religious christian. If you want to listen to some real music, then listen to Justin Bieber or Nicki Minaj. I hope he writes some better songs soon.
He's definitely one of the greats. His new album actually wasn't that bad, in fact I don't even think Get Enough or Fuh You are terrible songs.
The most famous and successful Paul on this list. I think almost everybody knows who he is.
Unless you don't live in some house, how can you not know who he is?
The man behind all of the songs recorded by Simon and Garfunkel, who's also got a really solid solo career as well.
The most haunting, other worldly, insightful, poetic, moving lyrics and music on the planet!
Hello darkness my old friend... Still inspires music today
No one can do music like Paul Simon. He's in a class of his own.
The Jam, the Style Council, his solo career - overall, he's got a really solid body of work.
One of the best blues harmonica players of the 1960s. Also, he's the leader of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, one of the first proper electric blues rock bands.
The lead singer of Free and Bad Company; I really dig his voice.
One of the most successful singer songwriters in pop history. His most famous creation probably has to be "My Way" by Frank Sinatra.
The lead guitarist for Free (and a guitarist that doesn't get enough respect in my opinion). Free actually had two guys named Paul, which almost never happens.
The bassist for The Clash. Before he joined the group, he had never played bass before, and he learned his bass parts from Mick Jones (the guitarist) by rote.
Love Paul Stookey.
Peter, Paul, & Mary
The drummer for the Sex Pistols. Most people have the illusion that the Pistols were completely incompetent musicians, but he is actually a really steady drummer. He and Steve Jones fed well off each other.
His real name is Stanley Eisen; he hated his name, so he changed it to Paul Stanley. Interestingly enough, Ace Frehley's real name is Paul; he got his new name in high school because he was an "ace" at getting people dates.
A founding member of The Yardbirds
