Least Funny Countries

No sense for humor, always being serious and doing your work. These are countries with the least funny citizens in the world.
The Top Ten
1 Germany Germany was formally united in 1871 under the initiative of Bismarck with King Wilhelm of Prussia as emperor. The previous 'Holy Roman Empire', basically a continuation of the empire of Charlemagne/Karl der Grosse was dissolved in 1806.

Some territory was lost after World War 1 and a lot more after World War 2, basically started by Hitler's Nazi dictatorship. Then the Soviets kept their zone - the 'DDR', East Germany, separate with a wall through the middle of Berlin, until 1990 when the country was reunited. ...read more.

As a German, I think German humor is terrible. German comedy shows and movies are boring. Germans only laugh when talking about politics. Nothing of this is humorous. Younger folks laugh when seeing the numbers 69 or 420 and that's it. People are mostly complaining all the time, blaming other people that they cannot be happy and laugh.

I think it has a lot to do with Germans not being very open, especially with other people of other cultures. A typical German will most likely not joke with you unless you've been friends with them for quite some time. They seem to find jokes about stereotypes very funny (but only about other countries! ), and I noticed that many find it funny when someone makes a mistake, fails at something, or hurts themselves. I think they just have a different sense of humor from many other countries. Their television shows and movies are notoriously bland and unfunny as well. When I was living in Germany the only thing watchable on T.V. were the US movies and sitcoms shown on T.V.. I do remember that when the Germans had a few beers, they would finally open up a little and be a little more funny... Maybe the answer is beer...

I agree. They are like that but I still love Germany and Germans more than almost anything. My country, America, comes first of course, but Germany is second. They really are serious. My best friend, Til, is from Germany and is incedibly smart, and cane be extremely funny, but it is just rare. He is always concentrating on his work and what he is doing and never goofing off like my other friends.

Along with the Dutch, Germans are the most painfully dull, unfunny people on the planet. Every single German and Dutch person I've had the misfortune of meeting have been incredibly boring, unlikeable and arrogant. I now actively try avoid them. They will literally lower your quality of life.

2 North Korea The Democratic People's Republic of Korea, also known as North Korea, is a country in Eastern Asia. Its capital is Pyongyang. It is currently ruled by the Juche leader Kim Jong-Un, after inheriting the title from his father, Kim Jong-Il, who in turn inherited it from his father, Kim Il-Sung.

My friend lives in South Korea and he can't even fly near North Korea or they will shoot down the plane.

People in North Korea are only allowed to laugh if Kim Jong-Un makes a joke.

Same as Iran, with the differnece of North Korea being America's enemy number 1!

Who is the President of the North Korea?

They almost can't be blamed for being so dour. Had a pretty rough history. Are easier to deal with when they are drunk.

Only time Russia can be funny is when they fall part through the power of the people, damn commies...

Not as serious as the Germans, but still serious, they can only laugh when they drunk Vodka.

This Russian girl I sit next to thinks the dumbest jokes are funny. They're awful.

4 Pakistan Pakistan was established in 1947 and is located in South Asia. Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan. Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar are other major cities of Pakistan. Urdu and English are official languages of Pakistan. World's second highest peak (K-2) and ninth highest peak (Nanga Parbat) are located in Pakistan.

Pakistani comedy is gold. Shafaat Ali's voice impressions are gold. Comedy in drama serials is gold. Pakistan is only on this rank here because people don't know any positive things about it so to call it "least funny" is kinda lame, just judging by your ignorance..-__-

Jokes on the lists' modifier because clearly you're wrong. Switch off CNN, Fox or whatever BS you're watching and watch Eva Zu Beck instead. Ta.

9 Venezuela Venezuela, officially the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, is a federal republic located on the northern coast of South America.

As a Venezuelan guy I must say Venezuelan humor is maybe one of the worsts sense of humor in Latin America, people here really don't know how to make a joke, besides is very often that people makes jokes with you when you don't know that person enough to make joke with you, and I find that arrogant.

Hugo Chavez has vanished the smiles out of it's people by threatening the USA with an attack.

I am Turkish, and I can agree with the previous poster. Our excessive binding to our own religion can end up in something extremely horrifying if you also consider our very much strict and poor education system.

Many people over here are also so full of themselves, so worried about 'looking cool' that many of them end up being way too boring and someone that you would not choose to hang our with at all.

The religious influence makes them really serious and they do not understand jokes when talking about their religion.

The Contenders
11 Austria Austria was Celtic (Hallstadt) then as Noricum, part of the Roman Empire, Alaric, who took over Rome, studied at a monastery near Vienna. In the Middle Ages, the Holy Roman Emperors moved to Vienna, then Austria became separate. Medieval documents from Eastern Europe as far as West Ukraine were often in German, and referred to Vienna, showing its influence well before the Austrian Empire. After the first World War, Austria became a small country, under 10 million population, but including the world's then 4th largest city. 'A big head on a small body' they said. In 1938 Hitler invaded his home country and imposed Naziism. Vienna was then the World's largest Jewish centre, many famous people, ...read more.

People here have no sense of humor. Everything is centered around getting as much money as possible and getting as much work done as possible. All this is a result of the high standard and cost of living in Singapore (Singapore is officially the world's MOST expensive city now)

It's nice though the people are too introverted. The people usually don't make jokes which is why I didn't get liked by my friends in 2014.

I agree because most of American people just think about their job and always try to save it and don't pay attention to another things like their families or travel most. Also they have to pay attention to their job because in America you should work and have job to save your house and your family.
Don't you think?

Ok then foreign people, what do you find funny? Trying to be rude to Americans? Thinking that all the humor in the USA are childish is wrong, the humor is diverse here, just like culture, personalities, and weight (not everyone in the USA is fat by the way)

Just about all Americans I've ever met love comedy films, sitcoms, romcoms, etc but can't seem to process any information fed to them as a joke unless it's coming to them from a T.V. screen.

They lack the wit and subtlety that British and Australian humour encompasses. Most of their talk shows seem scripted unlike the Graham Norton Show.

The supreme overlord/Governor Genera/Military Dictator banned a sense of humor in New Zealand. NAHH JK, but seriously, Australians live under a monarch (Tsar since it's a socialist/communist state) and they laugh at everything. Most ME Gulf Countries have great senses of humor actually, except for Saudi Arabia, but they're kinda the Ann Coutler of Arab Countries, very right leaning, so...

New Zealanders on nthe other hand, nnot so much...we barely have a sense of humor. General Zakharchenko pretty much banned it altogether XD. JK, He didn't but our society is just very serious as we're predominantly Eastern European/Slavic Descent.

Kiwis do not have a sense of humor, they love to laugh at others but not themselves. It's not that hard though, I'd laugh at myself if I had a NZ accent.
