The Top Ten
1 Sturmmaske auf (Intro) - Kollegah & Farid Bang

Despite each rapper having had chart topping albums before (including one collaboration albun with the other), it was their first number one song in their entire career. Furthermore, all 17 songs of the album entered the Top 50 in Germany.

It was a really great year for German hip hop, and Kollegah and Farid Bang delivered a menacing, hard hitting and aggressive album with an epically built up lead single / intro that prepares the scene for the attack that is about to come.

2 More Than You Know - Axwell Λ Ingrosso

This is one of the year's most addictive and catchiest pop songs, with a sound immediately recognizable and fun to listen to. It's one of those songs that are everywhere, but you are very fine with this being one of the year's most played jams.

3 What About Us - P!nk

P! nk is back. And she got one hell of a hit single for us.
Really, she completely stands out of the masses of pop singer-songwriters, being closer to indie or even rock music in regards of writing and atmosphere, but having chosen pop as the genre to musically express herself.

4 Dusk Till Dawn - ZAYN & Sia

Sia has something that makes even normal pop music sound more sophisticated and artful, although I have no idea what that could possibly. On here, she's also backed up by some really majestic beat.

5 Rockstar - Post Malone & 21 Savage

A pop song with a trap beat. Yup, that's lit. It's catchy, and I love trap drum kits. My only critique would be that the vibrato sounds extremely artificial and unnatural, but in this context, it's not as annoying and can be perfectly ignored.

6 Perfect - Ed Sheeran

How comes that every song I heard by Ed Sheeran sounds entirely good to me - perfectly sung, with wonderful melodies, nice lyrics - but I still feel no desire to buy his music? I don't get it. every time one of his songs pops up on the radio, it's pleasant, but still after it's over, it's just over.

Germany: 1 (From December 8th, still on top of the charts as of January 17th, 2018)
Austria: 1 (November 3rd to 9th, then again November 24th to 30th)
Switzerland: 1 (From October 29th, still on top of the charts)

7 Columbo - Wanda

The song by the Austrian indie rock band focuses around a couple whose only common thing in their depressed relationship is them staying at home watching "Columbo". Since "Columbo" is the greatest crime show ever aired, that's actually quite the good way to spend your time. It's a cool song, it feels so casual, yet a bit desperate.

8 Was Du Liebe Nennst - Bausa
9 Hallelujah - Pentatonix

"Hallelujah" is a beautifully and incredibly strongly composed song, so naturally, almost every rendition of it sounds great. This acapella version also has something unique about it. Neat.

10 Shape of You - Ed Sheeran

This song has the problem that a newcomer rock band called Eat Your Heart Out covered it. Ed Sheeran wrote a perfectly catchy and instantly memorable indie pop ballad, but when you know the cover with its slamming guitars and punkish vocals... the original just sounds a bit underwhelming on its own.

The Contenders
11 Rockabye - Clean Bandit, Sean Paul & Anne-Marie

The definition of an earworm pop song. It's not any outstanding in its premise or composition, but the chorus is just so damn catchy.

12 Despacito - Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee
13 Señorita - Kay One & Pietro Lombardi
14 Hey Bro - Marco Wagner & Dave Brown
15 Alone - Alan Walker
