The Top Ten

1 Stanley Jordan

2 Vittorio Camardese Vittorio Camardese

He was tapping his guitar in the 60s. And it was acoustic guitar. Which requires more skills than electric guitar. On electric guitar it is much easier to hitting the strings and make a clear tone from hammer on and pull off. But on acoustic guitar it takes twice as much pressure to sound those notes. That's why I added him second. - zxm

Wasn't he the guy who basically invented tapping? - SoldierOfFortune

3 Joe Satriani Joe Satriani Joseph Satriani (born July 15, 1956) is an American instrumental rock guitarist and multi-instrumentalist. Early in his career, Satriani worked as a guitar instructor, with many of his former students achieving fame, such as Steve Vai, Larry LaLonde, Rick Hunolt, Kirk Hammett, Andy Timmons, Charlie more.

He is known for all guitar techniques. And tapping is just one of his those techniques. I won't say anything. If you have listened to "Midnight", "Satch Boogie", "Day at the Beach" then you'll know why I added him in top 3. He took tapping into a whole new level. - zxm
