In the metal community, so called "elitist metalheads" will bash popular bands that play a style that they don't enjoy. Most of these bands come from the Nu Metal and -core subgenres.

2 Cradle of Filth
Cradle of Filth are a British extreme metal band that formed in Suffolk in 1991. The band's musical style evolved from black metal to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic metal, symphonic black metal and other extreme metal styles.
Great band lots of people hate them and they are wrong to.
Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir are despised by Black Metal elitists,.because they don't think bm bands should innovate. I am not a CoF fan, mostly because of their Gothic themes. - ryanrimmel

I'll admit, I dislike slipknot, and some of you may know that I made that list "Top Ten Reasons to Hate Slipknot" which I very much regret making. Dimmu Borgir is a Norwegian symphonic black metal band from Oslo, Norway, formed in 1993. The name is derived from Dimmuborgir, a volcanic formation in Iceland, the name of which means "dark cities" or "dark castles/fortresses" in Icelandic, Faroese and Old Norse.
I don't understand black metal elitists. They think a "trve" black metal band has to have poor sound quality, no melody or symphonic elements, and has to be satanic. Dimmu borgir is a very good band in my opinion. - ryanrimmel
