Top 10 Most Disappointing Video Games of 2017

Sonic Forces was one humungous prank. Probably the biggest prank of all time, not in a good way.

Problems I have with this game include:

Chaos and Shadow weren't even bosses. For Chaos you should have been able to play as Tails to take him down. For Shadow, you should have used Modern Sonic in a fight similar to SA2. If you showed Chaos and Shadow in the trailers you should have made them bosses!

They took 4 years to make the engine when Sonic Generations had a way better engine than this game. Sonic and the Custom Hero are just go in a straight line. Occasionally you may have to jump or switch a rail. Classic Sonic is no departure from bad gameplay. Your speed is pretty limiting unlike Generations.

It looks worse than a game of it's own serious from 6 years before it.

This would have been a good opportunity to make Mephiles the final boss, a plot twist to truly blow fans away, not the final boss recycled from Colors and Lost World.

I had a feeling this was going to be on the list before coming here. Again, I haven't played the game, but I have seen the full playthrough of it. For all the hype it garnered up, the scale of the story is pretty small despite it being Eggman having conquered 99% of the world. A lot of missed opportunities were seen, especially with wasting the idea of Chaos and Shadow as potential villains to fight. Yes, the major plot twist was indeed a major surprise, but considering they still bothered to include Metal Sonic as a boss fight even after the reveal, there was no excuse to not be able to fight Chaos or Shadow. Not helping is that Infinite's defeat doesn't really give off any true closure since we don't know what happens after he's teleported away by Eggman. Don't get me wrong, Sonic Forces is NOT a bad game at all and it DOES do a lot of things well that show Sega is in the right direction, but compared to Sonic Mania, Sonic Forces just doesn't seem to carry the same caliber of ...more

Its not even laughably bad like shadow the hedgehog or Sonic 06, its just painfully mediocre. Classic sonic controls like garbage and basically has no reason to be in the game, the new character is zero fun to play as, and the game is basically boost to win with awful level design.
