Top Ten Foods You Either Love or Hate

There's those foods which you either love or you hate. There's no in between it almost seems. You don't hear somebody saying that Marmite is just okay. That is a thing you never hear.
The Top Ten
1 Marmite

Marmite is okay. I like Marmite-flavored potato chips and cheese and Marmite pasties, but if you have it on toast, it can be horrible. It's really sticky, and it tastes super salty. It must be pretty bad for you because it tastes so salty. Too much salt can lead to problems such as high blood pressure. In fact, you're only supposed to have 6g (1 teaspoon) of salt a day. This only applies to people over 11! If you're younger, it's even less than that.

There's an old British saying we have: Marmite, you either love it or you hate it. This isn't far from the truth. Marmite is a good example of an acquired taste. In other words, some British people like it, but the rest don't, and it's unlikely for foreigners to like it either.

2 Olive

Olives are something you'll almost never hear somebody say, "Eh, it's alright..." Most likely, they will be spat out in an instant, but there is that minority of people who seem to love the combination of oil, bitterness, and saltiness.

I've never tried olives, but it would be pretty safe to say I hate them as I'm more of a sweet tooth.

Olives are my least favorite food, but I know so many people who love them. I've heard a few people claim they don't taste like anything, which is crazy.

Damn, I love olives! When I hear the combination of bitterness and oil, I would usually decline it, but something about olives gets me.

3 Licorice

Some people can't seem to get enough of it. Others, like me, just want to stay as far away as we can.

I love licorice, but only red. It is one of my favorite candies.

This only applies to black licorice. Also, this is a spot-on list! Great job, Cazaam!

4 Blue Cheese

It's literally moldy cheese. That's the short answer. The longer answer is it's a specific type of mold called Penicillium, which gives this classification of cheese its distinctive blue spores. Only people who are used to it will like it. Most others will hate it.

It's good if it's on a salad or eaten with buffalo wings. If we're talking about eating it alone, you may as well eat a package of crayons.

Absolutely delicious. Unique, strong flavor.

5 Anchovy

Most people see and smell disgusting fish. However, there are a few who seem to view it as a delicacy.

Anchovies are a good salty fish. Some people seem to like it, though.

6 Mayonnaise

Just about all the people I know seem to love mayo. I'm the odd one out - I can't stand it.

Mayonnaise is SUPER gross. It smells horrible, and it tastes horrible.

Yup, love or hate. Just below mushrooms.

7 Marzipan

The first one on the list I actually like. As I said before, I'm a huge sweet tooth, so I suggest that if you're not into sweet stuff, you won't like it. Still, I wouldn't eat too much because it can be incredibly sickly.

8 Green Pepper

Red peppers are nice and sweet. Green peppers are not. Because of this, I hate green peppers. Not that I know anybody who loves them. It's more of a like it or hate it situation. Close enough, I guess?

I could eat a green pepper like an apple. Red and yellow are the inferior peppers.

I personally like green peppers more than red or yellow.

9 Brussels Sprouts

I know. Half of the people I know love them so much, and the other half think they are absolutely putrid.

Yum! Why do people dislike this food?

I like them. They are pretty good.

10 Noodles

I just love it! I don't think I've ever come across a person who hates noodles.

No way I'm hating noodles. I really love it!

The Contenders
11 Habanero
12 Coleslaw
13 Curry

I don't mind curry as long as it's not really hot. I only like mild, creamy ones.

14 Raw Oyster

I've never tried it myself, but looking around the internet, I can tell that people mainly hate them, with a few lovers here and there.

Yummy! It's so good! Even better on crackers!

15 Prawn

Some people like this. I don't see how they could - it's awful.

16 Guacamole
17 Durian

I don't like the smell of Durian fruit, but my mother sure does like to eat them, specifically in the form of wafer bars (yes, there are such things as Durian fruit wafer bars).

The most rancid-smelling fruit in the world. However, the people who live around them seem to not only get near them but also eat them. How?

18 Candy Corn Candy corn is a candy most often found in the United States and Canada, popular primarily around Halloween.

I ate a whole bag of candy corn once because I loved it. After that, I decided I will never go near it again - I hate it.

I love candy corn, and I don't understand why so many people hate it.

How do people dislike candy corn? Well, whatever - it's still good in my eyes.

19 Hawaiian Pizza

Only the greatest pizza flavor ever, but too many people these days hate it.

This is SUPER good! It creates a variety of flavors in your mouth!

20 Avocado

I think this fits on the "depends on what food it's applied to" list, unlike other foods here.

Yum! I eat these with lemon juice and spicy seasoning every morning!

21 Macaroni and Cheese

No, I disagree. Everybody loves mac and cheese except for me. I am the only one living in the world who hates it.

Mac is awesome - so awesome I want to stuff my face in it.

I know a lot of people like this food, but all of my friends get surprised when I say I hate macaroni and cheese.

22 Cockle
23 Mushroom

I love mushrooms and can't understand why my sister hates this lovely, soft species. "Why do people eat fungi, for goodness' sake? It's fungi!" she said. But it's full of nutrients, and the texture... just melts in your mouth. I will keep eating it, especially when my sister comes around for dinner.
