Top 10 Most Anticipated Video Games of 2022

It's this time of the year again, gamers are getting excited by upcoming video game releases from their favorite franchises and studios.
The Top Ten
1 God of War: Ragnarok

The sequel to the award winning and widely popular God of War game from 2018, which takes place in Norse mythology as opposed to Greek mythology which was explored in the previous games of the series, and has the name suggest, Ragnarok is coming meaning the end of Asgard is near. It is scheduled to be released in 2022 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

Can't wait to get my hands on the game!

2 The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

The first Breath of the Wild game was a hit on the Nintendo Switch and fans of the Zelda series are excited to play the sequel. It will likely be as good and hopefully even better than its predecessor. It's scheduled to come out on Nintendo Switch some time in 2022, hopefully.

3 Elden Ring

Elden Ring is an upcoming action role-playing game by FromSoftware made in collaboration with fantasy novelist George R. R. Martin who designed the game's setting, he is best known for being the creator of Game of Thrones. The initial release date was in November of 2021, but it was pushed back to February 25, 2022.

I am very interested in this game, I hope it's good.

4 Horizon: Forbidden West

After the success that was Horizon: Zero Dawn, PlayStation fans are definitely excited for the sequel, Forbidden West. It will still have the redheaded girl Aloy as the protagonist of the game. The release date is set on February 18, 2022, let's cross our fingers and hope it will be ready on that date as planned.

5 Bayonetta 3

The developers have confirmed after years of rumors that Bayonetta 3 is coming. Bayonetta fans are very passionate about these games (and like Bayonetta herself a bit too much) so it's no surprise fans are very excited for this game. There is no release date announced yet.

6 Pokémon Legends: Arceus

I am very interested in the changes this game will bring to the main franchise.

7 Gotham Knights

Given how popular Batman and the world of DC Comics' Gotham City are, it's no surprise that there are many gamers out there who are excited for this game. Characters confirmed to be in the game include: Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, Penguin and Mister Freeze among others.

8 Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is scheduled to release in spring 2022, meaning Kirby fans have only a few more months of waiting to do. Being one of Nintendo's most popular franchises, there must be many gamers who are excited for this game.

This is like the first mainline 3D Kirby game we ever got, so I am very excited for it.

9 Dying Light 2

After many delays, Dying Light 2 is finally coming out in 2022. The first game was a great success and fans of the game have been excited for this sequel ever since it was announced.

10 Hogwarts: Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy is an upcoming open-world, action role-playing video game set in the late 1800s in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter being developed by Avalanche Software. Harry Potter being a favorite among many nerds and gamers alike, there is a lot of hype behind this game. The game should be released some time in 2022 if all goes according to plan.

The Contenders
11 Splatoon 3

There's a third one coming out?! I thought they would stop at splatoon 2

12 Sonic Frontiers

An open world Sonic game? Surely this is going to be interesting. Let's see if it's actually good though.

Waiting for the cutscenes to be out, just so I'm able to identify if it's set to be a mediocre game or not.

13 Gran Turismo 7

The legendary racing game is making its return with the eighth mainline installment in the series. This game promises to be huge with over 90 tracks and many cars to drive around in and customize. The release date is set on March 4, 2022.

14 LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
15 WWE 2K22
16 Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
17 The Outlast Trials
18 Babylon's Fall
19 Starfield
20 Marvel's Midnight Suns
21 Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
22 Slime Rancher 2
23 The Day Before

The Day Before is highly anticipated on Steam, but I don't think we can trust the developers given their previous games which failed or were just abandoned. Now most people would say that they were learning with those games, but looking at the trailers, this game looks fishy.

25 The Anacrusis
