Top 10 Fallout New Vegas Weapons
"Have you seen what one of those anti-materiel rifles can do to a Deathclaw?" Oh yes, I have, and it's beautiful. I love this rifle and everything about this awesome game. Fallout: New Vegas is spectacular!
There's nothing better in an FPS than getting a one-shot kill with a badass sniper rifle. This is one of the only guns in the game that will grant you that awesomeness.
I thought the Gobi Campaign Scout Rifle would have been up there. But this rifle and the Fat Man are amazing. Here is my rating on the Anti-Material Rifle:
Fun factor - 10/10
User-friendly - 7/10
Power - 10/10
Versatility - 8/10
Probably the most overpowered melee weapon in the game.
Hits hard and is easy to get. For me, the best melee weapon.
Let me tell you something: how can you vote for the Anti-Material Rifle when you can watch the Fat Man and its ragdoll effect?
Although it seems better in Fallout 3, it's still overpowered in New Vegas.
Two words: Experimental MIRV. It's the unique version of this weapon and it fires eight nukes at a time.
The only direct access to this gun is through turning in Chief Hanlon, which sucks. But it's the best revolver in the game.
Amazing revolver that will erase your enemy's head.
I use it a lot, but there's not a lot of ammo for it in any trading post or Gun Runners.
Can take out the Alpha Deathclaw with just one of them. Too bad there are only three.
Why is this gun so low on the list? It's the best all-around gun and is stronger than the Anti-Material Rifle.
Get the unique Medicine Stick variant and be happy with your purchase.
Basically an overpowered hunting rifle. (Sorry I keep using the word overpowered.)
The 12.7mm submachine gun is really nice-looking, effective, and powerful. Favorite!
The underdog SMG. It has basically enormous DPS and a decent fire rate. With good luck, it can outperform many weapons on this list.
Very good in any situation. Ammo is hard to find, but it's worth it!
Might be the best energy weapon in the game.
A pain to get to in Vault 34, but an overpowered Marksman Carbine.
Excels in any build. The Grunt perk makes it melt enemies at any range.
It comes from the majestic Joshua Graham after you defeat him. It rips Deathclaws to pieces and has a seemingly never-ending amount of critical hits. It's modeled after the 1911 and fires faster than most automatic rifles... enough said!
The Newcomers
"U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30, M1"... M1 Garand.
Great all-arounder. Semi-auto, very wide variety of ammunition types, and useful against everything. Perfect for Survival difficulty when you're trying to cut weight from having too many weapons and ammo types.
For sure, the best gun in the game.
It's a bit glitchy but can easily be fixed. I agree with the other commenter. How is this not first? It has unlimited ammo, a massive blast radius, ungodly damage, a chance to disintegrate enemies, and it looks cool! Best super space laser ever!
How the heck is this gun not even on the list!? Archimedes II is the single greatest gun in this entire franchise. It is an absolute joy to use and was a brilliant idea. First place. P.S. If you don't know what it is, YouTube it!
I didn't initially put this one on the list because, while it is arguably the most powerful weapon in the game, you can only use it once a day.
There's no way not to love this gun.
Good weapon for any encounters.
Best shotgun in the game.
The Anti-Material Rifle of the energy weapon class. At least equally as fun.
The damage and range make up for the single shot only. My favorite unique weapon.
This gun carried me from level 5 to 26. It's free if you have a 25 lock-pick skill and don't mind a little bad karma. It allows the use of 5.56 ammo in a pistol-only build, offering some ammo versatility. You can also recruit Boone and get the First Recon Beret in the same town, which increases its power due to the bonus to critical hit chance it already has.
You can literally take on anything with this weapon. It can easily take out an entire casino of thugs in minutes and wipe out the Brotherhood of Steel at the Hidden Valley bunker with ease.
An extremely powerful weapon that is second only to the Anti-Material Rifle.
Can only be obtained with the Wild Wasteland trait. Totally worth it.
The most ammo-efficient weapon of them all and the best thing to come out of the Dead Money DLC.
Possibly the best general combat energy weapon in the game.
My favorite sidearm for sure. It's really cool-looking, has a high critical chance, a high rate of fire, and an awesome reload animation. Great gun.
One-hit anything in the wasteland! How can you not like it?
A badass revolver that plays the Mysterious Stranger's theme whenever it's drawn or holstered. Very nice-looking and powerful.
Kill the Lonesome Drifter towards the beginning of the game for it. Worth it.
This gun is a pain to get but is extremely rewarding. Especially if you use a good load like magnum buckshot with the Shotgun Surgeon and Stay Back perks. The magnum buckshot/slugs make this gun one of the few things a full-sized Deathclaw in the Divide fears.
My energy weapon of choice. Really, you could do better with Elijah's Advanced LAER, but for the base game without DLC, this is the best non-heavy energy weapon.
Nothing more badass than a giant axe to purify the wasteland with. Great for wasteland-themed characters too.
