Most Mysterious Video Game Characters
Not to be confused with evil. Character can be purly evil or helped the protagonists (or be the protagonist).*note I will be using the saga they're in not the exact game.
Yes, we have some info about Kabal, but it only gives us more questions than answers! He's a very mysterious guy, and I love it.
Kabal has a very interesting storyline, but still, we don't know much about him. He is an intriguing character.
You see him in every Half-Life game made. He talks to the protagonist. But what is he really saying, and why is he so interested in you? What's his motive, what's his final goal, and why does he watch you from the shadows?
The G-Man is, in my opinion, the most mysterious video game character who's not randomly thrown into a mix of 20 other characters, especially when considering this is a single-player game. Extra credit to the devs for making him relevant and an essential character in the game.
"Time? Dr. Freeman? Is it really that time again...?"
G-Man is a man who sees what he does. He sees what he wants. He is anonymous, and yes, even better than Master Chief, Lara Croft, or even Duke Nukem! But still, he is stronger than anyone. He can do anything. He is, in fact, an international man of mystery.
A middle-aged guy with biotic prosthetic eyes, a Texan accent, and a lot of credits is 3rd place from the tip of the iceberg.
A lot of people haven't played this game, so compare him to Raizo from Ninja Assassin. Mysterious but deadly.
Had to let one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse be on the list.
She is one force not to reckon with.
OK, we don't even know his name for sure. The only things we know are what he looks like (not well) and entry number 17.
He's really mysterious and strange.
We know so little about him. He's one of the most mysterious characters by far.
Can't really describe this guy, but he's a beast compared to Marcus, Gordon Freeman, and the Master Chief.
I haven't played Redemption, but a character literally called Strange Man is worthy of this list for sure.
We don't really know if Q is male or female. We don't know if Q is human, robot, or cyborg. We don't know Q's background or motives. We don't know if Q is good or bad. We don't know Q's abilities, and we don't know how strong Q is. We don't know why Q mumbles everything they say. I know NOTHING about this person, which is why Q should be at least in the top 5.
If he's not gonna say anything, I'm not gonna comment.
It is true that he is mysterious, but this is enough and really well done.
He's in one of the best games ever. He beats Ratchet and Clank in a duel.
That smile alone, dear god. Also, the way he moves when he's talking is creepy. He jolts around and switches emotions faster than you can say pop.
He will keep you awake at night.
With all the talk about Sans and Gaster, it's easy to forget just how little we know about Chara. Beyond being a human child who fell into the Underground, got adopted by the Dreemurr family, died of illness, had their soul taken by Asriel, and became a ghost that seemingly possesses Frisk to make them kill all the monsters in the Underground, there is literally no information on who Chara is.
Why do they want all the monsters to die? Why is Frisk choosing not to finish the job of erasing the world worth killing Frisk over? And why does Frisk choosing to erase the world simply send them back to the beginning with Chara now seemingly having fully corrupted them just so they can kill everyone again?
If a ghost is created as the result of someone having unfinished business and a strong enough desire to finish it, then why is Chara a ghost, and what do they want to finish before accepting eternal rest? Are they really evil, or is their desire for bloodshed the result of being the manifestation of one with no soul? Is this the fate that awaits Frisk if they let themselves be consumed by a need for violence?
Did the other six human children whose souls are in the possession of Asgore ever get possessed by Chara? Why choose Frisk? Are Frisk and Chara's souls the same, or is the red color of Frisk's soul due to Chara's possession? We could ask a thousand questions about Chara, but none would have answers.
Because the game doesn't have a story, nor does it even have dialogue, we don't really know anything about her other than that she never leaves her house and keeps having these disturbing dreams. There are a lot of theories about what her dreams could possibly mean and why she committed suicide, but none of them are truly confirmed.
