Top 10 Most Overpowered Video Game Characters

From the early days of gaming to the high-tech virtual playgrounds of today, there have been characters that just seem to break the mold, characters that make you throw your hands up in despair or triumphantly raise them in victory.

Some might argue that these characters unbalance the game, while others might see them as the epitome of strategy and skill. The truth probably lies somewhere in between. What's undeniable is that these overpowered characters add a layer of complexity, challenge, and excitement to the gaming experience.
The Top Ten
1 Meta Knight - Super Smash Bros. Brawl Meta Knight is a fictional character from the Kirby series of video games owned by Nintendo and HAL Laboratory. He is one of Kirby's rivals, but occasionally teams up with the pink puffball to defeat a common enemy. Meta Knight is known for his powerful slashing attacks and flight in the Super Smash Bros games, and is widely considered to one of the best characters to appear in the series.

Meta Knight is everything. He's all you ever wanted. He can win a set now even if you never won it. Clashes, he always wins. Trade, they ain't never gonna. You want him forever. Any counterpick, he's better on it.

Go play Super Smash Bros Brawl and play Meta Knight. Then you will see why Meta Knight is more powerful than anyone or anything.

Meta Knight is 100% overpowered, and he is banned from some tournaments unless players promise not to spam the Mach Tornado move.

These ideas are still the game developer's fault for creating characters more overpowered than God.

2 Chuck Norris - MUGEN

Should be #1 by far in terms of pure OP-ness. He literally causes damage to you by WALKING. With every single step he takes, no less. The entire screen shakes from the force of him walking. O_O

One guy even said that Chuck Norris can blow up the moon in one stomp.
He can even push the Earth using push-ups.
His blood temperature is 98 degrees Celsius.
And much, much more.

You can tell that he's so good at this game because he can take over all of the characters with his power and strength.

He's apparently so OP that his IRL grandson cheated on a game show.

3 Mega Rayquaza - Pokémon

So overpowered, Smogon literally made a new tier for this guy, which is the highest tier. It got banned from even Uber... yeah.

Honestly, now that Naganadel has been introduced, it's pretty fast to move Rayquaza to Ubers.

True. I can kick butt with mine.

4 Brade - Broforce
5 Wizpig - Diddy Kong Racing
6 Red Knight - Castle Crashers
7 Oddjob - Goldeneye 007 Oddjob is a henchman to the villain Auric Goldfinger in the James Bond film and novel, Goldfinger. In the film he was played by the Japanese American actor Harold Sakata.
8 Fox - Super Smash Bros. Melee
9 Arceus - Pokémon Arceus is a legendary Pokémon from the Pokémon series. It first appeared in the 18th Pokémon movie alongside other Legendary Pokémon. In the Pokémon universe, Arceus is widely known as "The Original One", as it's believed to be the creator of the entire pokemon universe. According to mythology, Arceus is said to emerge from an egg that existed before the universe.

Arceus is the god and the creator of all Pokémon. Moreover, he can change types, but his Normal type is the best.

Recovery and Cosmic Power spam is really OP.

This is why I need one in Omega Ruby.

10 Ratchet - Ratchet & Clank Ratchet is one of the protagonists of the Ratchet and Clank series developed by insomniac games as a playstation exclusive.

Ratchet has always been a badass little rabbit. He is not a weak yuppie. He has a cool story. He earned his overpoweredness. He should be in Smash Bros and Rayman.

He is the strongest of them. These other idiots think first, *aww, a little kitty wants to play,* but then Ratchet shows his RYNO V and kills these guys.

The Contenders
11 Kirby - Kirby Kirby is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Kirby series of video games owned by Nintendo and HAL Laboratory. His first game was created in 1992, and the pink puffball has made his way into the hearts of fans of all ages.

Kirby has access to all the abilities in the game, including the overpowered ones. This means that Kirby is both the most overpowered character and the most underpowered character at the same time.

Whatever copy ability is OP in the game (Spark, Rock, Tornado, Archer, Leaf, to name a few), Kirby has that ability. Kirby isn't OP at all. He's Over-overpowered!

He has infinite power and defeated 2 beings that destroyed the entire omniverse (Void and Drawcia), also two beings that can do so with just ten words (NOVA and Star Dream). How is he not first?

PLEASE make Kirby a higher character. Chara sucks. All she does is press a button, and Kirby can crack a planet in half, and he beat one of the most dangerous and strongest Dragon Ball characters: Majin Buu.

12 Pikachu - Super Smash Bros. 64 Pikachu (Japanese: ピカチュウ) are a species of Pokémon, fictional creatures that appear in an assortment of video games, animated television shows and movies, trading card games, and comic books licensed by The Pokémon Company, a Japanese corporation. A mascot of the Pokemon franchise, it's considered to be the most iconic character of all Pokemon species, as well as a major character in Japanese pop culture, due to its companionship with Ash Ketchum in the anime series. Pikachu has been featured in movies such as Pokemon Detective Pikachu as well as music videos - most notably Katy Perry's "Electric" in 2021.

There's a fine line between being a centralizing force in the metagame (like Pikachu in Smash 64) and being overpowered. Pikachu does not cross that line.

Go play Super Smash Bros 64 and play Pikachu. Then tell me why he is OP.

13 Akuma - Street Fighter Akuma known as Gouki in Japan is a character of the Street Fighter series and recurring antagonist, first appearing in Super Street Fighter II Turbo as a hidden character and boss who could be summoned after certain conditions were met, an emotionless and powerful warrior fixated on mastering the Satsui no Hado also known as the Dark Hado, he became selectable for the first time in Street Fighter Alpha 2 and would also go on to appear in many other Street Fighter games as well as crossovers even appearing as a special guest character in Tekken 7.
14 T.T. - Diddy Kong Racing
15 Samus - Metroid Samus Aran is the protagonist of the science fiction action-adventure game series Metroid by Nintendo. A galactic bounty hunter, Samus is usually equipped with her Power Suit, giving her access to weapons she uses to battle her enemies.
16 Photoshop Flowey - Undertale
17 Nightmare Broly Ssj3 - Mugen
18 Roy - Super Smash Bros. 4
19 Purple Knight - Castle Crashers
20 Sheng Hua Nan - Dong Dong Never Die
21 Milla Maxwell - Tales of Xillia
22 White Tanooki Mario - Super Mario 3D World
23 Tanooki Mario - Super Mario Bros. 3
24 Sans - Undertale Sans or Sans the Skeleton is a character in the 2015 RPG Undertale created by Toby Fox. He is a lazy, pun-loving skeleton who is a supporting protagonist in the "pacifist" and "neutral" routes of Undertale, and a heroic antagonist/final boss of the "genocide" route. He is known for his incredibly difficult boss fight, bad puns, and the phrases "geeetttt dunked on!!!" and "you're gonna have a bad time." He is also named after the font "comic sans." Known for also being Ness from the Mother series. (known as Earthbound in Western territories.)

Sans is so powerful he could destroy the entire multiverse in a snap!

Not fair, this guy is super OP in both Undertale and Glitchtale.

He beats the crap out of you.

Sans is super hard to beat.

25 HUNK - Resident Evil 4
