Greatest Music Artists of All Timecamp0112 A list explaining the greatest artists placed in order from 10-1 (1 being the greatest).
The Top Ten
Indescribable. So amazing whether you like them or not. They can't be beat. They were the greatest band who ever lived. John and George were no Hendrix at guitar. Paul wasn't any John Enwistle. And Ringo was no Neil Peart! But none of that mattered. At all. They just wrote incredible songs. They didn't need insane guitar solos. They were insane songwriters. The songs this band wrote can not be explained. If you haven't, take a listen to a couple albums by the Beatles. Even if you HATE the Beatles cause your a stubborn baby who likes only rap or like heavy metal, you'll find at least one song that you love by this band. You will be amazed at the talent of each one of these four lads from Liverpool. - camp0112
This band changed the whole music scene and world during the sixties and with almost every new album they set new standards. They had two of the greatest frontmen in history and were a very tight band. They conquered the world with their Mersey Beat sound and ended with symphonic rock on Pepper and rock opera on Abbey Road. All this was accomplished in just seven years time. So much output of high quality in such a short period.
They were actually great musicians. George was a very good guitarist and underrated as big solo's were often not required. Paul is as a basplayer as good as John Entwistle. But more important are the musical ideas and drive to experiment and make better music.
Their compositions are amazing and they have tried more different styles than any other band. And both McCartney and Lennon were great singers too. And with George they made superb vocal harmonies.
But in the end they were limited in being Beatles. John wanted to do his campaigns ...more
I'm a musician and I can say from my experience that The Beatles are the greatest musical act in modern time. The only ones that probably beats them I Schubert and Mozart, but that's it. They changed the whole world, not just the music world. I've played with and met MANY musicians, all with different taste when it comes to music. But they all respect The Beatles. As a musician it's impossible to not know how much they did to push everything forward. Everyone that came after them were inspired by them. Trust me, everyone. I know this better than most people and music is what I do. It's what I know best. It's actually musicians that understands and knows this the best. It's our job. We should know it.
The thing is that (and this may sound rude) the only people that ever fully can understand the importance of Beatles is the musicians. As a musician its your job to take part of the Beatles legacy. The truth is that most non-musicians, doesn't really know that much about music at ...more
The beatles are the best because they made the best music in history they have sold 183 million albums in the united states alone michael jackson has sold about 85 million so the beatles are more popular by far and the beatles albums are way better than michael jacksons the beatles are the bestV 266 Comments
Why on earth would you bump him? Let me tell you why Michael Jackson was the greatest of all time and maybe you'll put him back at number 1. Michael Jackson was a great singer, dancer, songwriter, and composer. He was the total package. Why do you think he's set many records today? He's also very achieved. Till this day, I don't know a more accomplished artist. He has 13 grammies, 8 in one night, 26 American music awards, over 4 presidential awards, over 100 billboard awards, over 100 RIAA awards, and humanitarian awards given most famously by the King of Africa, 2 presidents of the USA, and the Princess of England. He's left an impact on both music and the music industry. He changed music by defining the pop genre eliminating disco. Pop became the genre of the 80s. He's changed the industry by releasing Thriller basically. The album saved the industry, broke racial barriers, setting the standards for music videos, and changing the style of fashion and dance. The album went number 1 in ...more
The most successful entertainer, and most recognizable man on earth, even nearly a decade after his death. Michael Jackson was simply phenomenal, sold records like no tomorrow, broke through all racial barriers, his performances were masterpieces, his dance moves iconic, and his music unmatched in its reach. Famous all over the world from childhood. Over 30 years after it's release and the 1983 Thriller is still the best selling album of all time, and his other albums, including Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991), and HIStory (1995), all rank among the most successful albums of all time. Jackson received an unmatched amount of celebrity, and in his prime everyone wanted to be like him. His dance has influenced the masses even more than his singing in some ways, and he is widely regarded to be the greatest, and one of the most influential dancers of all time. From his amazingly choreographed music videos such as Thriller, Beat It, Bad, and Smooth Criminal, to outstanding ...more
He is the best. PERIOD. Only white supremacists would think the Beatles are better; these are the same people who voted for Trump, I bet. Well, maybe they're the best for white America, but fortunately, the U.S. is NOT the world. Ask the entire world now who deserves the number one spot, and, undoubtedly, Michael Jackson would be the answer. If anything, they wouldn't even know who/what the Beatles are! There's an obvious reason to that. Michael Jackson's music touched people of all nations, races, ages, religions, etc. Beatles now? Just the US and Europe. I lived overseas as a little girl as my father was active duty in the US Navy and stationed out of the country. I never heard of the Beatles until we returned to the US. And another thing, quit comparing a band to a solo artist. I can guarantee you if the Beatles band broke up, not one of them could achieve everything and all that Michael Jackson accomplished: not a single one of them! Time has proven this already! Michael Jackson ...more
This comment is utter nonsense. People judge people off of their talents. Not their color or any of this. This is like saying saying, if Michael Jackson was #1, "The beatles only bumped down because of those Hillary Black Supremacists." Maybe, if you've thought about it, Beatles are number one because they have more records sold, which means more people like them. - SoldierOfFortune
Michael is the greatest not only because of his undeniable talent for singing, dancing, writing, producing and many others, but also because he changed forever the meaning of being an artist, an entertainer. He broke all racial barriers, he impacted the whole music industry and the whole world to be honest. His accomplishments are too many to be listed here. He's the most influential artist of all time. Every artist that came after Michael follows his legendary blueprint and his name will be remembered and celebrated forever. He literally saved the music industry and the american economy with his album Thriller (the world's best selling album), and this same industry depended of his name and still do to this day. Even after his death he keeps breaking records. His impact was so big that people feel the need to find "the new Michael Jackson" and keep comparing current artists to him, but we all know none of them is not even 0.5% of what Michael is. Talented, original, revolutionary are ...moreV 284 Comments
QUEEN IS THE BEST BAND THERE IS. Never will there be a band as great as Queen or even half as great as Queen. This band consisted of 4 gods and one of those gods are now up in heaven singing for the Lord. They had the greatest song in the entire music history. Freddie, John, Roger, and Brian. 4 musical legends that will never be forgotten! QUEEN FOREVER.
Queen is the best band out there with The Beatles, Michael Jackson (i respect him don't get me wrong) isn't as good
They should totally be number 2 at least if not 1. They are one of the Best bands ever, with so much song variety.
Beatles are overrated name 6 of their songs off the top of your head without taking a bit. Queen wrote one of the best songs ever. Bohemian Rhapsody.
Love Me Do, I Want to Hold Your Hand, A Hard Day's Night, Every Little Thing, Ticket to Ride, If I Needed Someone, Taxman, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, Penny Lane, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Something, Let It Be... That's 12 songs; one from every studio album of theirs and double what you asked for. I could go on and on with entire albums of Beatles songs that are known by most everyone who likes music.
Putting one band down in an attempt to make another one sound better isn't a real point in the argument. I could say "Queen is overrated name 6 of their songs off the top of your head without taking a bit. The Beatles wrote one of the best songs ever. Hey Jude." I switched two words from the trash you spouted and my guess would be that you're pissed because my argument doesn't make sense. Just because you or I put down one band, it doesn't mean the other is inherently good.
Next time, take the time to make a real argument. - Aweso
When you think of great Rock & Roll songs, you'll always think of Led Zeppelin.
My favorite band ever, but the 4th greatest artist of all time? Come on, guys. - ThatDudeRoss
When you have the best drummer of all time, the best guitarist of all time, one of the best vocalists of all time, and arguably the best bassist of all time in one band, it's hard to say that they're anything but the best. And each musician wasn't just technically proficient in their instruments. They could actually write good music. I mean, when they weren't taking Willie Dixon songs and remixing them. But they still made everything they did sound good. - Aweso
Everyone is going to shoot me for saying this, but Pink Floyd is overrated as fuuuckkk

Get Evanescence off this list
There a great artist there one of the most famous artist and should be in the 10 ten of most famous artist and it is one of the top 10 most famous artist. They have great songs like all the songs from the albums The Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, and Wish You Were Here If you listen to the albums the albums would sound good. The Dark Side of the Moon, and The Wall what a classic those albums were even Wish You Were Here were but not as the other 2. The Dark Side of the Moon has all the best Pink Floyd songs in it for me but there are 2 other of the best Pink Floyd songs that is not on the album witch are Wish You Were Here and High Hops. I like all those songs the same. The album is a classic from begging to end that is like a greatest hits album. That is how good the album is. The Wall album was like that for me too.
Beatles are better than pink flowd
The single greatest music artist ever. With most songs I can't remember the words too well but with EVERY Pink Floyd song not only can I remember the words but I can sing along to the guitar. Their music takes you on a journey from start to finsh, from Astronomy Domine (their first song) to High Hopes (their last). Before I heard Pink Floyd I didn't know the meaning of life. But after hearing songs like Echoes, Time, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here, Money, Comfortably Numb (I could easily go on... and on) I found the meaning of life to be listening to Pink Floyd. I will forever be in debt to David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, Richard Wright and Syd Barrett.V 35 Comments
YES! METALLICA! Should be a lot higher on the list. I know that TRUE METALLICA FANS would agree with me. Where are you at guys?
Best metal band of all time in my opinion. Their music transfers well to other instruments as well, which is very rare for metal.
Metallica is a three way tie for my favorite band
Metallica should be a lot higher than 6! - PeppapigsucksV 30 Comments
He's just the best. Has the best lyrics, flow, wordplay, and he actually raps from the heart. I'm listening to him right now.
EMINEM bought REVOLUTION. The only white rapper who made a breakthrough to achieve what no one could ever even think of, becoming the greatest artist of all-time, his fanbase is unmatched to any other artist here.
Best lyricist of all time.
He is the best rapper you can ever come across or even imagine.V 242 Comments
I love THE ROLLING STONES music I bought up to 36 of their albums compilation albums and studio albums and live albums and I have 2 concert dvds. As for one direction the boy band I think they are not worthless the only thing that almost bugged me was their lack of producing in their albums I liked that MICK JAGGER and KEITH RICHARDS put much effort both songwriting and production at least they wont let anyone order them to let others do production at least I think so but maybe its just me saying this. The reason I dislike justin bieber is because he shared way too much on production on his solo albums and he didn't even produce any 1 of his singles with only 1 or measly 2 co-producers that's almost the reason I feel like disrespecting him so much. About Jay-z and beyonce and lady gaga I only do not listen to their music because they possibly being part of the global elite a.k.a illuminati. My overall favorite artists goes like this MICHAEL JACKSON, number 1 THE ROLLING STONES number ...more
You can see why I am having then at number 4 because there is the most rock artist. There a great rock artist they made great songs like Sympathy for the Devil, Gimme Shelter, You Can't Always Get What You Want, Angie, Jumping jack flash, Wild Horses, There truly are better than The Beatles because there harder. I know there are a lot of other bands harder than The Beatles but The Rolling Stones and happen to be better. The Rolling Stones are just very good. This is the best I can get to explained why I think The Rolling Stones are better than The Beatles. The reason I did not explained why the first 2 I think was better than the Beatles because Alice in Chains are my favorite and people has a different favorite artist and people should not be saying mean things to me why the Beatles are better or completing why there better and keep going on. It is not like there a bad artist there a good artist. I am fine people saying to why they think the Beatles are better than Alice in Chains. ...more
Amazing, The Rolling Stones music make you feel like you can be yourself. I could never really explain why I loved the Stones so much, every time I listened to them I wanted to dance and jump in the air. Watching Mick Jagger dance on stage and how comfortable he was to do any kind of dance and not even care if he was embarrassing himself or not is inspiring. - MunV 14 Comments
Elvis should be no. 1 on this list not te beatles. They wouldn't have existed if elvis had not been there. That's what john lennon said. Elvis had a fantastic beautiful voice, gorgeous looks and amazing stage presence. Read what all the big stars have said about him, he was the greatest entertainer who has ever lived! He was also a great humanitarian giving large sums to charity and indviduals. Known all around the world by his first name and loved by millions of fans. Artist of the century, and as leonard berstain said 'elvis was the greatest cultural force of the 20h century.' He was a rebel and a pioneer, a giant in music, he stands alone in music history. Rest in peace, darling man.
The top 3 music artists of all time are number 1 beatles 2 elvis presley 3 led zeppelin
Elvis was one of the very best. Few can match him, none can beat him.
Eminem above Elvis.
Eminem is a damn fine rapper, but come on. This is Elvis. Have some respect smh - AlexZoraj
Just read the damn lyrics, you haters.
And no, they didn't become famous because of Chester's Death. They became famous because of Hybrid Theory and Meteora, which were great albums. Sure, they might have made a few "pop" songs, but every song had excellent lyrics. Not liking Linkin Park because of the music is fine, but not liking Linkin Park because of the lyrics is not understandable. Calling them idiots is stupid too. They have 1-2 overrated songs, but they have a million underrated songs.
These guys are idiots. Listen to the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Eagles or Queen

Why is a rapper higher on the list
The best rock band every
The purest form of rock and roll.
SERIOUSLY?!?!? , 14th place isn't an acceptable position for these absolute legends. Need I say more? , they've appealed to all generations of people for 4 decades now and are the best rockers out there. With over 200 million album sales and over 50 million on back in black alone (the best selling rock album of all time). With Hits that never have/will get old like Thunderstruck, You shook me all night long, Highway to hell, Hells bells, Back in black AND THE LIST GOES ON. The best of the best and always will be. For those about to rock, we salute you
I love AC/DC but I think 14, it is now 12th, was a very acceptable ranking. It isn't far from the top. - ParasN2000V 14 Comments

Very influential. Kendrick lamar and even /Kanye/ recognises him as a legend and so many other crtics/artists. I honestly think without him, music today wouldn't be the sameV 45 Comments
One of the most influential bands ever. Kurt Cobain will be missed forever. If Nirvana were still alive today, punk rock wouldn't be "emo and loser" music.
They were Great there's no denying that but we're they that influential? Grunge Died The same day Kurt died. - 12cc

Nirvana's Nevermind is a great album that tuned alternative into grunge rock.
Millions of people in the united states started to give up on rock and roll, me included...then came Nirvana...hope restored.V 38 Comments
Though I have loved Metal/Hard Rock music all my life, even some Death Metal... but Iron Maiden well... I was around 14 I think living in Helena, MT at the time. Walking home from school I always stopped into the local record store to see if anything good has come out. I had just recently got into albums from Judas Priest, Scorpions, Rush, Van Halen...and man I really like this stuff, but why in the heck ya never heard it on the radio always puzzled me!? Anyhow, guy at the counter said check this out it's "Where Eagles Dare" from Iron Maiden, the album is called Piece of Mind... and wow what a cover, check it out... he handed it to me and well...(you fill in the rest). Just turned 50 this year. Up The Irons!
Greatest band of all time!
Awesome cover artwork!

I got heavily interested into Radiohead very late. The first time I've ever heard of this band was when their 2016 album "A Moon Shaped Pool" was released, and I was mesmerized with my first time hearing it. It was unlike any other rock music I've ever heard. It's extremely experimental, softcore, and minimalist in nature and I loved every bit of it. I began to dig deeper into this band's discography and I must say that it's been a while since I've found a band that's had such consistency. Radiohead's lyrics are fantastic and their style is always unique and hypnotic, and I also may be a sucker for Thom Yorke's voice. I got hooked on this band so hard and so fast that I must say that they need to have my #1 spot. - Mcgillacuddy
Great band, but not as monumental as many of their fans would say. - ThatDudeRoss
There it is! My internet must be broken. I had to scroll for far to long. - Nebular65
I'm not saying Radiohead should be number one, but they should be higher than Linkin god damn park! Just listen to 'The bends', 'Kid A', 'Moon shaped pool', 'Rainbows', and 'Ok Computer' and try to tell me that Linkin park should be higher.V 17 Comments

Bob Dylan cannot be overrated by any sense. He's not a great musician for his voice. Dear Lord, it's not his voice. But his talent for multiple instruments, sometimes at once, and his lyrical genius put him above the rest. A greater writer than even The Beatles or The Faces. He is a masterful lyricist and poet. His writing won him a presidential medal of Freedom and he will live on in history for decades due to his influence on such a wide spectrum of musical genre's.
He definitely needs to be in the top 10.
Bob dylan at 16th? What a disgrace to music.
His lyrics were genius, He led movements, he was a poet and extremely talented. There was a reason why many during his time thought he was some kind of prophet. Even though technically his vocals weren't the best, He knew how to take advantage of it and use his vocals to perfectly match his music. He sang about racism and many other important issues. He inspired the Beatles to write more deep music. He is one of the greatest lyricists of all time. - MunV 26 Comments
Bellow Linkin Park, nirvana, Metallica and Green Day?
I like some of those bands and think nirvana (and to a certain extent Green Day) deserve to be on this list but would any of them exist without Hendrix? I doubt it.
I also love Pink Floyd but he should be higher than them... Maybe behind the Beatles, Dylan, whoever the best blues guys were and either one of Johnny cash or hank Williams he should be in probably 6th place but all lists like this are completely subjective as there can never be a best artist. Even the Beatles can't be undisputed leaders because there were people who influenced them and without those guys the Beatles wouldn't exist.
I also think on lists like this people say ' best of all time' but leave out early blues, bluegrass, folk and country guys ( I think there may be some overlap there but I'm no music expert) who probably made it all possible for everyone on this list. And what about classical music? Just because its not popular nowadays ...more
Shame that Jimi Hendrix is only 20th.
This list is a perfect example of how dumb this site is. Hendrix should easily be top 10, even top 5. The most important guitarist to ever live and one of the most important artists in general. Half of the artists ranked above himnis absolutely a joke. Nirvana? No. Green Day? AT 10?!? Haha NO. Linkin Park? Radiohead? Give me a break. Metallica, ACDC...smfh. Most of these artists have Jimi to thank for having the opportunity to do what they've done. I've never come across and actually accurate list on this site, except for maybe Best Rappers, but even then it's close. This site is a wack joke.

Should be top ten. Also why is linkin park and Eminem in top ten. I love linking park and I'm fine with th em being tip twenty. Eminem, I personly hate rap. But he is good so also top twenty. But why imagi me dragons, kendrick lamar, tupac shakur, and Kanye West in the top fifty. Rap sucks. Imagine dragons is very good but should be lower than the likes of the who, Elton john, Billy joel, and black sabbath. Also maroon five is good, should not be in top 50
Greatest rock band in the world
Shame to see Guns N' Roses at 17
There a great artist. There album Appetite for Destruction is great. I remember listen to the album when I was younger. It sound so cool and was good. The songs on the album are great. The album is hard. There are songs on the album like Sweet Child o' Mine and Rocket Queen Sound nice not very hard but have a nice beat to it.V 10 Comments
The who are in the top 5 music artists of all time
Previously one of my favourite bands, Maybe I'm being biased when I put them eighth on the list. Keith Moon was unbelievable entertaining on the drums, Roger Daltrey as he swings his microphone live, Pete Townshend ripping out his guitar and plays it as everyone's jaws drop and John Entwhistle a bass guitarist who could outstage a lead guitarist any time. Their album Tommy is one of the greatest rock operas. This band nearly convinced me to try to die some how before I got old. - Mun
With Pete Townshend's wildly fast and crazy guitar playing, his incredible ability to write some of the best Rock N Roll songs, and his outstanding Piano and Keyboard playing... and with Keith Moon as drummer, (notably the 3rd best drummer of all time) with his extremely fast and beaty drumming, especially on their album, "Who's Next". Roger Daltrey, with is famous high pitched screechy voice, well suited for a Rock N Roll band. And John Entwistle as Bass guitarist, with his fast n loud low notes that make him probably the best Bassist of all time. Now that I've said that, I hope you understand why I'm disappointed that they're at #14 for the best music artists of all time, instead of something like #5 or 6
The who should be in the top 10 of all timeV 15 Comments
Let's face it, this guy can write very powerful and cohesive concept albums that doesn't confuse, manipulate, force or construct you think differently or act differently. He's actually smart and studies the game of hip Hop and knows how to execute any idea he can think of whether it's though his rhymes and instumentals also while simultaneously creating unique song structures and pushing the boundaries of hip Hop music but still maintaining a mainstream appeal. With only four albums, he's proven and keeps proving he'll have a very important discography with impact, innovation and influence on music and by the end of his career...it's a great chance that he'll be recognized as the best ever in Hip Hop music especially because of the topic he raps about and how creative he was conveying a stories/messages.
He's already in my top 10 rappers ever in my opinion.

Even if you're not into the type of the music that is the beatles (like me) you still have to respect them for being pioneers that made bands like avenged sevenfold the possibility of having a career. I guess I'd grudgingly put elvis above A7X also, but I have no respect for the Rolling Stones. A7X should be number 3 (maybe 4) but only below their influences. Though I wonder why no one's added the founder of the best genre of all time. Carcass who founded melodic death metal. Not top ten, but certainly should be close.
You've got to be kidding me. Taylor Swift, Kanye West and Ariana Grande are all higher than Avenged Sevenfold?! What is this world coming to?! - RorywilbrenV 2 Comments
When it comes to having a unique sound or unique writing style, I don't really see where this band would fall. Their music is...I can't even describe it. It's odd. That's the best I can say. They didn't start anything new or develop any new genre on their own. Every music artist had some influence from someone or somewhere, and it's not like Blue Cheer suddenly could play music just like that. They had to have some inspiration from somewhere. Considering they're coming from the American 60s psychedelic/hard rock sound, best I can say is that they were influenced by the music artists that influenced Jimi Hendrix, The Stones, and Cream. So likely 40-50s blues and rock n roll artists. They're a nice band, but not the greatest to ever exist.
This is the top ten in my opinion.
1 The Rolling Stones 2 The Beatles 3 Blue Cheer 4 Led Zeppelin 5 Deep Purple 6 The Who 7 Jimi Hendrix 8 Cream 9 Bob Dylan 10 The Byrds
@issaonrtdmtr Yep, on your side here. "All Time" seems to be a term used very loosely, and we only seem to look at our own generation, because that's where we found the music to be thriving. This band, along with many others on the first...3 pages, should be much lower, with much older musicians taking over the top. If we truly were looking at the greatest of all time, the first page would probably be 75% classical composers and 25% other iconic musicians. So this band, definitely deserves to be much lower, along with everything else in the top 20. Yes, EVERYTHING else.
How did Blue Cheer went all the way back down? This makes not sense. It should not go down that fast when it was at 19 today. There is no way Blue Cheer should not like the top artists when The Who, The Rolling Stones, Cream, and Jimi Hendrix are like the top artists. Name me one artists that Rock more than Blue Cheer that is not metal or have influence from Metal.V 11 Comments
They are good and all, but are nothing compared to Linkin Park. - JoMama163
No matter what they say Three Days Grace is and will always will be #1. Adam Gontier, Barry Stock, Brad Walst, and Neil Sanderson are my heroes. Their music is focused on every emotion that every person feels wether if its angry, sad, happy, love, or hate. Their music gets me through the tough times and that is why they are #1.
Below Green Day? That needs to be switched. These guys are what cemented metal and created a name for the genre. They are the ones who created it and made it a thing. They especially created the doom metal/psychedelic rock subgenres as well. Lets keep voting and get these guys higher on the list!
I agree there are more talented artists, but not when it comes to riffing and music that makes you feel. This and Hendrix are the best.

He's sold more than almost any artist and along with this has the best selling single of all time. He released 5 major #1 albums in a row and has more hits than any other artist except for Elvis and the Beatles. He's also just a genius, piano prodigy at age 4, got a scholarship for the London Royal School of Music at age 11.
For Elton not to be at the top 5 goes to show that some people don't truly know his music or history. He has sold more than 30 albums and 250 million records with no concert that goes with an empty seat is absolutely ridiculous. Nonetheless he is one of the greatest musical artists of all time, with more than 45 years beyond his prime he still is on fire and is loved by generations of both past and present time. Truly one of the most phenomenal artists in music to walk the Earth.

No one comes close to Cash. Most of the people on this list would never have got into music if it hadn't been for Johnny Cash. His music is inspiration and down to earth; it's something people can relate to, it's real music. He is the only one on this list that could relate with any generation of listener and get that person to like his music.
Such a raw, inspirational artist, I always felt as though he was telling a story and it was apparent how much his words meant to him; no one could even come close. Cash made you feel something, which is rare.
Best musician of all time
Hands down the best artist ever. In a career that spanned 5 decades he gave us some of the first rock, some great country, and some great folk songs. From Get Rhythm to Ghostriders in the Sky to Further On Up, he was truly the greatest artist ever. I said ever!V 6 Comments

He is a Classical Musician, not dumb rap and hip hop garbage. - GehennaTheSecond
Was mad. Went deaf. Created one of the most iconic pieces of music ever.V 16 Comments
Legend. Just unbelievable. No one can compare their rap to the GOAT
Should be higher than Kendrick Lamar. - CharismaticKat
Hip Hop God and man with arguably most musical influence ever should be in top 5

Coldplay will forever be the best artist, Period. All their material is hauntingly good. Their 'new stuff' is still amazing compared to the 1st few albums and it still has that Coldplay vibe. They can make anything sound their own. Coldplay have a song for every emotion that our bodies can physically and psychologically feel. The chemistry within in the band is one of the main attributes that puts them head and shoulders above the likes of The Beetles, Queen, MJ, The Rolling Stones... Coldplay will forever be the epitome of music.
I think this bands music is awesome my personal favorite is viva la vida
Lookie here. Finally a good artist not from the classic rock era. Classic rock should have never ever tortured my ears.
Oh, I LOVE Coldplay. but the only thing is, I think that others deserve top spots more than them. otherwise GREAT! - MrHydeV 19 Comments
This man is the great one. He is the Gretzky of music, I saw many groups and people above him on this list that made no sense. Billy is an iconic legend and opened the road to so many musicians everywhere.
Vienna is one of the best songs ever written, along with Piano Man, Only the Good Die Young, etc., so to see Billy Joel below Green Day and Imagine Dragons is a disgrace.
I see 25 beside the name Billy Joel and I am angry. How is he not in the top ten? HOW?V 13 Comments
But in all seriousness Amy Lee's voice is beautiful and the ballads make me cry. - 24601
Sorry, but there is no way that Imagine Dragons is a better band than Evanescence. - DCfnaf
People are sick this must be in top 10
50? Should be at least 5, these guys are awesome. - GREYBOYYV 1 Comment
Megadeth are the kings of Thrash Metal!
Justin Beiber above Megadeth? Is this some sick joke?!
Mgeadeth is a great band that is better than metallica hahaahahaaha get rekt metalica fand xdxdxdxd
How come Bieber ahead of Megadeth? IS THIS A JOKKKE
How come he even made himself into TOP 100
They should be a lot higher ranked.
Steve’s voice & Neal’s guitar deserve it.
They have a lot of albums and songs, creatively named in sequence. Examples are: (Departure, Arrival) (Captured, Escape) (Decade, Century, Millennium) exc. Each album has a song with the same name, and Journey has a lot of the Greatest hits, like Don't stop believing, Seprate ways, Any way you want it, and many more. To me journey will always be one of the greats.

These guys are bad to the bone.
You people put skrillex above these guys? Faith in humanity has been lost
I'm glad they got this high, but it's an absolute crime that bands like Three Days Grace, Evanescence and Imagine Dragons are above them. The Velvet Underground were way ahead of their time in a way that was much less mainstream than the Beatles (not to diss the Fab Four). - ThatDudeRoss
It's sad how this list doesn't rank artists in order of talent but instead of popularity, if it was in order of talent there is no doubt in my mind that the velvet underground as well as Simon and garfunkel would be hire, however this is not the case and this list seems to have been overrun by mediocre (in many cases poor) pop artists, it's a shame that my generation seem to struggle to discover music outside of the charts
Second most influential band of all time, they have long cemented their place in the history of rock music. I understand why they are not higher. Their music fits right in with the other sounds of today, and they have not recorded an album since 1970 (don't say Squeeze). They don't have the ubiquity of The Beatles, or Elvis, and they don't have the recency of bands like Linkin Park (17? What? ), but that doesn't mean they should be forgotten.
Their music was amazing, listening to their album "The Velvet Underground & Nico" felt like listening to a philosopher speaking words of wisdom. If the Beatles are the kings of mainstream music, then these guys are definitely the kings of alternative music. - MunV 1 Comment
The Beach Boys should AT LEAST be in the top 15. I mean, come on. It's the Beach Boys. I, personally, don't really listen to them that much, but it doesn't mean they're bad. I tend to separate what I like from what I think is the best (For example Led Zeppelin is my favorite band but I think the Beatles are the overall best band) and this is an example of that. Listen to "God Only Knows" or any of the other masterpieces on one of the first albums to be a work of art in its own right and not just a few hits mixed in with some filler to cash in a bit more: Pet Sounds (I know how ridiculous that name sounds, but trust me, it's good) and you'll change your mind. Probably. - AlexZoraj
Man, it's incredible how a band so great and inspiring is so low in this list.
As a Beatles fan, they should be MUCH Higher.
Beach boys should be in the top 10 music artists of all time there music is timeless like the beatles and elvis Presley and led zeppelinV 9 Comments
Not high art but really great 80's hard rock. - ThatDudeRoss
How the hell is this not higher?
How is Van Halen not in the top 20 at least. The have the greatest guitarist, and their songs are known to millions worldwide. They are one of the greatest rock and roll bands in history
OK I know they aren't like the best ever but 287th?! COME ON GUYS!
Justin Beiber One direction and P! Nk above the mighty and powerful Slipknot?! This will not do! Whoever voted for those 3 artist are idiots who only listen to mainstream music (I'm not a hipster). Corey has amazing vocals from hectic screaming to soft angel singing. Plus Slipknot are really funny guys. Sure thy May have expliced lyrics like "I wanna slit your throught and f*** the wound" but if you want it softer listen to Vol 3 very few profanity plus genius song writing please listen and vote for these people
How is Freddie below all the garbage at the top of this list?
The beatles and elvis Presley and led zeppelin are the best ever
Bucktoothed guy, great singer.V 6 Comments
Stays entertaining even with over eight albums - KylePeake2
Honestly the greatest artist of all time. I have yet to find a single artist with as much consistency. Every one of his albums can be argued as one of the greatest albums of all time. The only artist without a single bad album, at least in the mainstream. If you disagree, listen to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, 808s & Heartbreak, and Yeezus. - TheParasiter
Are you actually joking me? how is this guy even on the list? - MrHyde
Top 40? More like top 1,000,000. Why is he 40? Why is he even on this list to begin with? - AlexZorajV 22 Comments
Free bird...all needs said
The artist is one the list because of the song Free Bird. I know that is only one song but lynyrd Skynyrd is one of the best artist and good artist can be good in their own way. If I had to pick a favorite song besides from my favorite artist it would be Free Bird. Why because the song has a nice beat to it. It is soft but it has a hard beat in it but not too hard.
Yeah baby these guys are awesome
Just listen to sweet home alabama
Best ever my opinion
Born to run is the greatest album ever written, period, Beatles could never have written such a
Musically and lyrically complex album which despite its complexity retains a beauty few albums posses
The greatest, the best, the legend, the boss with albums such as born to run, darkness on the edge of town, Nebraska, The River and Born in the USA with songs as Thunder road, backstreets, Born to run, Jungleland, Badlands, The promised land, racing in the street, prove it all night, darkness on the edge of town, out in the street, the river, hungry heart, glory days, Born in the USA, no surrender, dancing in the dark and many more
Without a doubt, the greatest of all timeV 11 Comments
Or, in reality, Brendon Urie and the Touring People - 24601
This should be changed,Dallon isn't it panic anymore he sings/plays bass in his own band (listen to I don't know how but they found me) - poppunk
P! ATD surely deserves to be in this listV 3 Comments
Ohh, we're halfway there...
WOAH LIVIN ON A PRAYER - MrHyde
Listen to their debut album, up to These Days; satisfaction is guaranteed. (Really I like all their albums.) Better than Beethoven, and still touring; releasing new albums. And they know how to gain fans. I’m 18. Went to my first concert two years ago, second one last year. They know how to keep fans and gain new ones. - lastcig
Totally a great one - Pointingfingers
This band if not number 1 at least in the top 10. So many good songs yet no one seems to appreciate.V 4 Comments
Love Stevie wonder! - MrHyde
Definitely should be in the top 10. Stevie's one of the most talented and well-rounded artists in contemporary music. - Eddiej
Can't believe Stevie Wonder is so far down! An absolutely fantastic artist with a sensational voice who creates beautiful songs. He is definitely my favourite and his music always cheers me up.
Stevie Wonder at this placement is crazy! Stevie Wonder should be in the top 10 undoubtedly! This man is a musical genius. His vocals are basically responsible for modern R&B. His songs and their composition... no words. This list ain't doing justice to Stevie at all.V 6 Comments
Honestly, I believe Rush should be at the top 5 list, their progressive rock style was way ahead of their time in the early years, and still is. Rush is one of the most important bands in the history of rock, and by far the best progressive-rock band. Just search up "bands inspired by rush" and you'll see. Geddy Lee is outstanding, with his unique style of playing keyboard, bass AND singing at the same time. Alex Lifeson is one of the guitarists with the most advanced and unique type of riffs, and Neil Peart is probably one of the greatest drummers of all time. They switch between classic rock-style to hard, progressive and technical rock, so their music can be for any type of rock fan. Rush truly deserves a higher placing here.
An ecclectic band, I'll give you that, but possibly one of the most talented, most experimental, most revolutionary bands on the planet. Not to mention that three individuals, Lee, Lifeson & Peart are in the top ten lists of most of their respected instrumental skills - Lee for bass, Lifeson for guitar and Peart for drums.
Hurts that Charles Manson and Rebecca Black are ahead of rush...
This band is great and one direction is dog shi-V 2 Comments
