Billboard Chart Analysis: 04/08/2017

ProPanda Hello everyone, and welcome to a new series of mine. This is where I'll be tackling the Billboard charts, mainly because 2017 is a time in pop music worth studying. If you want to know what's popular in music right now, here's the blog for you!

There's a couple of segments in this series. Segment one is Billboard Breakdown (Hot 100). You should watch the Spectrum Pulse series of the same name for rules and tradition.

The Top Ten
10) The Chainsmokers – Paris
The only reason this went down is because of Drake. It’s gaining in performance and with The Chainsmokers’ album hype and dominance, I can see it lasting a few more weeks in the top ten.
9) Drake – Portland ft. Quavo & Travi$ Scott
This is going to pull a Castle on The Hill and drop a lot now. It’s slipping fast on iTunes and nonexistent on the radio.
8) Drake – Passion Fruit
This is a song I can see becoming a big hit. It may even set the new trends of pop, which is good, because, not only is this a great song, I’m getting tired of tropical house. Still, one of the best on More Life.
7) The Chainsmokers & Coldplay – Something Just Like This
This isn’t going to be as big as Closer, or even Don’t Let Me Down, but I do feel that this can hold its momentum and transform from there. I still don’t like how it’s Coldplay’s 2 nd biggest though….
6) Kodak Black – Tunnel Vision
And this is still gaining… ok.
5) The Weeknd – I Feel It Coming ft. Daft Punk
This definitely took some loss this week, due to MV hype ending and sales shrinking because of Drake. Still, it’s holding on pretty steadily and will most likely only get better.
4) Migos – Bad And Boujee ft. Lil Uzi Vert
And this is falling. I’ll give it 5 more weeks at most. I will say this though, I never thought it would be THIS big.
3) ZAYN & Taylor Swift – I Don’t Wanna Live Forever
It’s only rising because Migos is falling.
2) Bruno Mars – That’s What I Like
And this is #1 on iTunes. Please hit #1.
1) Ed Sheeran – Shape Of You
And this is still dominant in every category.

Contenders for the next #1 are:
· New comebacks from big name artists (Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake)

Castle on the Hill deserves better. It's really unfortunate that it is not doing as good domestically than it is internationally. - visitor
