Top 10 Reasons Why Deathcore Is Terrible

The Top Ten
  1. The lyrics

Now, the lyrical themes (if you could call them that) for Deathcore would be things along the lines of encouraging someone to kill themselves or saying that "everyone is sick of you," which are some of the most uninspiring "themes" I have heard.

Erghghrhggrh, edgy cringe-inducing lyrics marketed towards edgy prepubescent schoolboys with the mental capacity and body figure of little girls.

Well, it's not for everyone, but yeah, the lyrics are very hit and miss in deathcore.

  2. The vocals

The vocals are what ruin it for me. It would have been listenable if the vocals didn't sound like some guy screaming like a lunatic or making bear noises.

But the vocals are usually the one thing that Deathcore haters agree is OK - they are usually more varied than straight-up death metal anyway.

The vocals are highly modified in most cases when compared to death metal.

  3. The fans

Core kids are the bane of my existence. They don't use logic and will get so butthurt when someone claims that deathcore and metalcore are not metal.

The fans are usually either wannabe tough guys or emo/scene kids.

  4. The guitar sounds that are like someone doesn't know how to play one

Talent or no talent, it doesn't matter when the music is a dime a dozen and lacks creativity and originality.

  5. The people calling it hardcore

It is a subgenre, yes. This is right. It is more hardcore than metal and is beyond watered down.

No, hardcore is Kissing Candice, Atreyu, Tear Out the Heart, etc.

It's not, really, when you think about it. Making your music hardcore would mean you'd have the balls to make a song called "I C*m Blood."

  6. The breakdowns

Breakdowns, while not inherently bad, are not limited to metalcore and deathcore. This being said, any other subgenre can actually use them in a proper context and not as tough guy filler.

Even straight-up hardcore punk can do it right while these lazy core kids just slap together the same breakdown hundreds and hundreds of times more.

All a breakdown is when your band is playing at a slower pace. And most of these have no effort put into them. Real metal has breakdowns as well, but they aren't as common. However, when you listen to Pantera's breakdowns, they're actually well implemented.

  7. The pointless arguments it causes

Because the fans are childish and brain-dead.

This is a very good item.

  8. The sound being as repetitive, boring and generic as reggae

  9. The image

Yes, the gaping ear piercings, the edginess, the dyed hair, and the horrible clothes. It's almost as bad as emo kids. Wait, I'm wrong, they're all scene kids with horrible tastes.

  10. The bad sound
