Most Influential Jazz Saxophonists

The Top Ten
1 John Coltrane John William Coltrane was an American jazz saxophonist and composer, also known as "Trane". Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes and was later at the forefront of free jazz.

John Coltrane's music is just so inspirational, so spiritual, and so complex. One of my favorite albums is A Love Supreme. Words can'rt describe how amazing it is.

2 Charlie Parker
3 Coleman Hawkins
4 Sonny Rollins Walter Theodore "Sonny" Rollins is an American former jazz tenor saxophonist. He is widely recognized as one of the most important and influential jazz musicians. In a career spanning seven decades, he has recorded over sixty albums as a leader.
5 Eric Dolphy

Eric Dolphy had one of the most unique playing styles out of every other jazz musician. He would use a lot of quick jumps from one register to another. He was very talented, but misunderstood as well. I hope he gets more attention, as he definitely deserves it.

6 Lester Young
7 Sidney Bechet
8 Stan Getz
9 Julian "Cannonball" Adderley
10 Grover Washington Jr.
The Contenders
11 Jay Beckenstein
12 Dexter Gordon
13 Wayne Shorter
