21 Journey Journey Journey is an American rock band that formed in San Francisco in 1973, composed of former members of Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch.

People act like they know good music just because they like this band. As if they are one of the best rock bands out there. I just want to bang my head against the wall.

Not known for great solos, or jaw-dropping songs, etc. Yet they get so much recognition lately even though prior, they have not been relevant since around the late 80s (and for that case, a good reason for that)

Guys, there is more to classic rock than Don't Stop Believin' and Livin On a Prayer (latter is Bon Jovi, but you get my point).

Don't Stop Believing is a bit overrated/overplayed, as is a couple more of their songs that everyone knows, but that seems to be the major complaint. They've actually got a lot of good stuff from the late 70's and some 80's - there's some really heavy hard rock on Frontiers.

The music comes on and EVERYONE starts to sing, they are not that good. They sound generic, Glee ruined any goodness that they had. Ever since their songs became the #1 flash mob song, the #1 relationship song, the #1 class reunion song, the #1 karaoke song, this band has been completely over rated.

While I will agree that later-period Journey (especially 'Raised on Radio') is overrated, early Journey before Steve Perry was incredible and should be required listening as they were emulating Mahavishnu Orchestra. - synthonaplinth

22 Limp Bizkit Limp Bizkit Limp Bizkit is an American nu metal band from Jacksonville, Florida, formed in 1994. Their lineup consists of Fred Durst, Sam Rivers, John Otto, and Wes Borland.

How are they overrated? I've never heard one good thing about this band, pretty much everyone thinks they suck.

Are they really that good? I mean, I tried to like their songs, I had like 10 of their tunes on my iPod, but I never got amazed by them, except their name and the cover of behind blue eyes, which is amazing.

Why are they even here? Only like 1 out of 100 people know that they exist!

How can they be overrated when nobody likes them? - Gruunge

23 Aerosmith Aerosmith Aerosmith is an American rock band, sometimes referred to as "the Bad Boys from Boston" and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band".

Aerosmith doesn't get enough credit. They are the Bad Boys from Boston and they rock. So many great albums/hits and not as much recognition. They are more underrated than overrated. They rule! They're a rock legend!

They are awesome. Dream On does not suck ass.

They are a good band but they are a bit overrated. I've heard some of their most famous songs over and over again! I am a fan of Aerosmith and Stephen Tyler but they need to release some new songs or something.

24 Cannibal Corpse Cannibal Corpse Cannibal Corpse is a American death metal band from Buffalo, New York, formed in 1988 . The band is known for their graphic album covers, explicitly violent lyrics and song titles like "I C** Blood" The group got into mainstream after performing the song "Hammer Smashed Face" in the 1994 film Ace Ventura: ...read more.

When it comes to death metal (or maybe even metal in general), it doesn't get much more overrated than Cannibal Corpse. There are many other great death metal bands who don't get as much recognition as Cannibal Corpse such as Death (yes, even Death isn't as popular as Cannibal Corpse; which is sad), Opeth, Morbid Angel, and Carcass. Cannibal Corpse songs usually have bad "lyrics" (By the way the vocalist sucks, a GOOD death metal vocalist would make it brutal, yet understandable such as Chuck Schuldiner or Mikael Akerfeldt), but it Cannibal Corpse it literally just sounds like the guy is burping into the mic. Cannibal Corpse songs also have the SAME drum beat for every song and the guitar work is horrible. This is the most overrated metal band ever; aside from Metallica and maybe some metalcore bands.

These guys just hands down suck and get tons of credit that they don't deserve

Never saw as much appeal in them as other bands... they are considered the best way to much, other bands deserve attention intead - Lucretia

CC isn't even really death metal. It's more like grindcore or pornogrind - GreenDayFan21

25 Nickelback Nickelback Nickelback is a Canadian rock band formed in 1995 in Hanna, Alberta, Canada. The band is composed of guitarist and lead vocalist Chad Kroeger, guitarist, keyboardist and backing vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger, and drummer Daniel Adair.

Psuedo-grunge for kids who aren't allowed to listen to CDs with "Parental Advisory" stickers on them and middle-aged women. Somewhere, Canada is weeping.

Nickelback Honestly Has to be the Worst and Most Overrated Band in the World, I cannot find ONE songs from nickelback that I like, whats worse, the mainstream and Radio is FORCE FED this Bull, by the Way, Slipknot is not overrated & Neither is A7x, Its the Drummers.

Bunch of wannabe stars the problem is there is no sky for them

Sorry, this is overrated, not overhated.

I was at a summer camp and one girl at the summer camp said she liked rock music. She said her favorite bands were 5 seconds of summer and awolnation, and she liked one direction. If she listened to bands like Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd in the future, she'd be ashamed that she said she liked five seconds of summer and one direction. 5 seconds of summer is pop, not punk or rock. They aren't as bad as one direction, but still pretty overrated - Imreallyboredrightnow

Those rotten teenagers tried to steal from Green Day and failed. Also teen girls love them and they are so overrated.

Dear people, as a not teenage girl, I can say they have really good music without being considered biased because "omgomghg their so hot". They don't believe they are punk, IT'S A JOKE WITHIN THE FANDOM. They are inspired by pop-punk/pop-rock bands. The girl at your summer camp is an idiot, 1D are awful, and 5sos is pop rock.

They want to be like Green Day, blink-182, Sum41 etc but they are like One Direction.
Their music’s not punk, rock, pop punk or pop rock.
They are P O P.

27 30 Seconds to Mars 30 Seconds to Mars Thirty Seconds to Mars (commonly stylized as 30 Seconds to Mars) is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1998. The band consists of Jared Leto, Shannon Leto and Tomo Miličević.

Very overrated band. The person of Jared Leto is overrated too. Why? I was on his gig with my girlfriend and I saw his fans (i mean girls). Sorry but Jared is good only as actor, not vocalist. System of a Down is underrated band...

They are not overrated. They are not the best but on whole they are good. A Beautiful Lie is really a good album. This is was was average and new one Love list and faith is totally different which some can call average and bad. Jared Leto has the best vocals only behind to Chester Bennington of Linkin Park.

If you want to get tons of hate, just go and write something like "30 Seconds to Mars is lame and untalented group". Many many girls will appear and make you laugh so much. Cute pretty guy Jared and girls-only fanbase clearly do not correlate, of course.

Jared is a good actor I like 30 seconds to marrs - gruppenfuhrer

28 Guns & Roses

The category is "overated", not bands that suck. In my opinion, although GnR was a decent hard rock band, they were WAY overrated. They just happened to catch on with the college-age, white, frat-boy, metal-newbie crowd who proudly displayed their new GnR CD on the shelf next to Garth Brooks, Steve Winwood and Cher so their girlfriend would see how "rockin'" they were.

I LOVE Guns N' Roses, but they are most defiantly overrated. They had one number one hit, with a couple other songs that even remotely hit the charts, and all of the sudden everybody in the world is in love with these guys! I love the songs but some of the attention that they are getting should go to a far more deserving band, whomever that may be.

There are one of my favorite bands but they only had one awesome album, Appetite for Destruction and they only lasted about 9 years before they broke up but now they are back together again. Like I said they only lasted 9 years on the road they were only good for about 4 of those 9 years, 1987 - 1991 after Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 came out everything crumbled. They are still a good band and all of the band members are extremely talented individuals but they had very few hit songs.

They are Kinda overrated due to their popularity I guess..Otherwise..They are really a great band, and I love them

29 KISS KISS Kiss is an American hard rock band formed in New York City in January 1973 by Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and the band's original manager, Lew Linet.

All makeup and no musicianship. Go buy Ace Frehley's new album instead.

Had a certain amount of creativity, but wasted it on the stage show theatrics and wound up with the most sterile class of rock imaginable.
The truly scary part is that they have a fanbase who could care less sbout music as an art form. they could just play the Alphabet song for two hours straight, and no one would bat an eye as long as they remembered the makeup and the fireworks.

KISS's marketing and merchandise was just a side affect of their fame in the late 70's. Under all that makeup the members of KISS write catchy rocking songs. And KISS's live shows are hotter than He#*!

Kiss should be number one- they totally suck

30 Panic! At The Disco Panic! At The Disco Panic! at the Disco is an American pop rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada, formed in 2004 and featuring the current lineup of vocalist Brendon Urie, accompanied on tour by bassist Dallon Weekes, guitarist Kenneth Harris, and drummer Dan Pawlovich.

They're basically just another fall out boy. One of the most overproduced bands ever

I can't believe this. They are nothing like fob. Panic! Is COMPLETELY different! With the genre changing every album I don't see them much as fob. I like Fall Out Boy its just Panic! At The Disco may have some similarities but they definitely not just another Fall Out Boy.

Eh again they're okay. However this one girl on my bus was obsessed with the lead singer and wanted to marry him (basically a classic obsessive fangirl) and it was so annoying to hear her talk about how hot he was all the time. Now don't get me wrong the girl's really nice but at times she got to be a bit annoying when it came to things like Brendon Urie and how she hated interacting people. Also I feel like these modern pop "rock" bands sound I don't know too...emo auto-tune like. - Anonymousxcxc

I love Panic! But the fangirls, oh my god are they horrible. They're all like "Panic! is the best band ever! " "If anybody disagrees fight me! ". - Catacorn

I accidently voted this band when I did not want to. Green Day and this band should not be here at all. I respect those who do not like Blink 182 and Tom's vocals, but I personally did not find anything bad about the vocals. It actually took me longer to adjust to Mark's voice because I did not like it at first, I got easily adjusted to Tom's voice, am I the only one who thinks that? - AnimeDrawer

I like this band, but Green Day is much better (Green Day is my 4th favorite band, behind Beatles, Stones, and U2).

Plus, it takes a LONG time to adjust to Tom's voice.

I actually took a long time to adjust to Mark's voice instead. I had no problem with Tom's voice at all when I first heard the band. - AnimeDrawer

How can anybody compare this band to Green Day. This is supposedly a rival band. I listened to all the small things waiting for the good part, but of course it never came. Green Day has some of the greatest punk/rock/alternative albums ever like dookie, insomniac, nimrod, and American idiot. I hate how people think Green Day is a sellout just because they add variety to albums like blvd of broken dreams. Blink 182 is literally 100 times worse than Green Day. - treyanthonyyeah

They aren't overrated, they are great, they have got some of the best songs of all time. Gimme Shelter, Sympathy for the Devil, You Can't Always Get What You Want, Paint It, Black, Wild Horses, It's Only Rock N Roll, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Can't You Hear Me Knocking... They are really really good on what they do... MUSIC... But they are bad persons, just because one thing: They are talking about war and about bigger problems, and they doesn't seem to understand they aren't going to stop until you solve the little ones: Brian Jones, they left a lost man alone, think about that

The Beatles, Nirvana, U2, Queen, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, The Who, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Rush, The Eagles, Guns N' Roses, and The Rolling Stones. These bands aren't overrated, they're good. There's a big difference. Sympathy for the Devil is one of the best songs of all time. I will admit, though, that Satisfaction is as overrated as hell.

Great band... Listen to "Gimme Shelter" and then come back and say they are overrated.

These guys work hard and make music, I love them

I do like a few My Chemical Romance songs but they're way overhyped

I personally love this band, and funny enough, it is here at the bottom as if to prove my point. Here's the thing, you listen to any old album by them, and you'd change your mind.

I LOVE THEM! I think they are underrated. The haters haven't listened to 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours yet.

I personally love their older stuffs though Warning is their last good album in my opinion but I would like to ask the haters if they listened to their old albums such as Dookie Insomniac, Kerplunk, 39/smooth at least before voting and leaving a hate comment about them. Just saying'

I'm surprised this isn't higher, Green Day gets a lot of hate and lots of people think they're overrated. Green Day had decent albums like Dookie, but then they got too commercial. They kind of sold out. - Imreallyboredrightnow

Their songs are all the same lol

Screw Bon Jovi. They're pretty much the One Direction of the 80s. They constantly get called "legends" just because they're old, which is NOWHERE NEAR true. "Livin' on a Prayer" is a horrendously cheesy hair metal anthem about some weird story that makes no sense, and also has the most unnecessary guitar solo I've ever heard. Jon Bon Jovi is an AWFUL singer, and he constantly looks and sounds like he wants to vomit. "Always" is just a broken, cheesy break-up song about someone that HE probably cheated on. "It's My Life" is yet another annoying anthem about nothing. Anyways, come at me, senior citizens with your poorly-spelled comebacks.

I don't think they're overrated! Unless people really do call them the best band of all time. I've never heard people say that, but if they do, yeah, that's going a bit far. Bon Jovi is good. They're not THAT good.

Boring music but great hair.

I don't think people even talked about Bon Jovi after the 80s - Himalayansalt

38 Def Leppard Def Leppard Def Leppard are an English rock band formed in 1977 in Sheffield as part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement.

They're extremely underrated if anything. They helped spearhead the glam side of the new wave of British hard rock/heavy metal and were extremely influential to many artists like Guns 'N Roses and Whitesnake to name a few. Repetitive? Yes. But they are nonetheless an extremely underrated band. Pour Some Sugar On Me made them popular, but if you explore their catalog, they've got some much better songs like Photograph and Bringin' On The Heartbreak (a song that helped change hard rock ballads mind you.) - DavidBondra

I'm sorry but these should be in the top 20. I completely respect Dave Grohl and the boys but their music is just so bland and dull and boring. Their early albums were really good and deserve praise but right around "in your honor" they started becoming just plain old boring. All the songs sound like the most cliche rock song ever. It just seems like now when Dave writes a song, it's for the sake of writing a song. It doesn't feel like there's anything special in them anymore. Another thing is Dave Grohl himself, don't get me wrong I have loads of respect for the guy, he is very very talented, started Foo Fighters at a rough point in his life and is great with fans and hardworking. But all this recognition has gotten to his head. He's not necessarily "up his arse" but he knows that everyone loves him and he'll do anything keep that reputation. To finish it off, very talented people, used to be something special, Now? Just a Band writing the same old songs again and again.

I respect Dave Grohl and think he's a fun guy overall, but his music in Foo Fighters is just BLAND. It seems that some of their hit songs are just inundating radio airplay more often than bands who could use some. The songs do get old quickly, and the band's still around, meanwhile Nirvana is always considered the more overrated of the two bands? - NuMetalManiak

40 The Naked Brothers Band The Naked Brothers Band

I have never heard of it, but I voted for it just for the name. A band that's actually called "The Naked Brother Band" can't be good. If it's succesful, it's totally overrated.

See kids this is why the special ed class gets bigger every year - vizual_prophet

Wow, I completely forgot about these guys.

When was the last time I heard this band being mentioned, 2007? They were overrated back then, though.

I don't know who they are, but if they were popular in 2007 I should. They look like they're ten
