Unlike SpongeBob (which has been improving a lot) and Family Guy (which has quality all over the place as of Season 7, but overall mediocre compared to excellent first six seasons), it just kept getting worse and worse.
Kept adding unnecessary characters until it finally got cancelled
What started off as a great show, it slowly started losing it's steam when it approached it's 10th season. The current writers are clearly experiencing a lack of ideas and the newer episodes seems to impersonate a failed imitation of its younger self. Every show needs to end at a certain period, and while this show fairly entertained a large amount of audience in it's hayday, it's high time that this show needs to call it a night and move on.
It's not as good as it was, but it's still good.
What started off as a great show for kids, the writers turned to a more mean-spirited humor as they ran out of ideas when time passed by. And since season 3, every trivial concept seemed to get the full episode treatment.
The first four seasons were awesome, the fifth one was OK, but the 2 after were full of horrendous righting and poorly-done humour.
The first 4 seasons were amazing, but starting at season 5, the show went downhill.
The original Transformers was actually one of the highlights of the summer of 2007. Little did we know the stark downward spiral the franchise would take two years later when Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen crash landed in theaters nationwide. It still had the jaw-dropping CGI of the original, but the human characters quickly became insufferable and the Transformers themselves curiously turned into racial caricatures. And if Revenge of the Fallen wasn't bad enough, 2011’s Dark of the Moon came out to similar disgust among the fan base. At last, Paramount hired Michael Bay again for yet another Transformers movie, bringing the grand total up to four movies in eight years.
The first movie and Dark Of The Moon were the only good movies. Revenge Of The Fallen and Age of Exctinction were not even that good and The Last Knight was just atrocious.
You may say I have bad taste in movies. in my opinion, I like the first 3 movies. The 4th one was okay. And the 5th movie The Last Knight was terrible so don't get me started.
The only good one was Dark of the Moon. The rest was terrible (Revenge of the Fallen was alright in some parts but still)
Jaws was never intended to be a franchise, but the desire from Universal to make a quick buck quickly bastardized the concept and led to serious overkill. In just 12 years, the series had gone from revolutionizing the entire movie business to delivering a cinematic turd that is still frequently mentioned as a contender for the title of worst movie ever made.
One & two were brilliant, the 3rd one was disappointing to its prequels but still not bad. The 4th one was just a mess from top to bottom
The show started off great with a group of nerdy scientists with their dorky humor. However as seasons passed by this kind of humor was over-used and quiet frankly started getting bland and derivative. It just wasn't satisfying the average viewer anymore. Not to mention the over emphasis on romantic relationships between the characters that was prioritized above the humor factor.
Started off quite unique, if stereotyped. After a few seasons it became "Friends" with nerd jokes. It has never recovered.
Friends with geek jokes
It started off as a great show highlighting Alan's miserable life with Charlie's excellent deadspan humor along with a some adorable quick-wits by the 10 yr old Jake. It continued this way until the end of the 8th season, where Sheen was fired off the set with a great animosity and they killed off the Charlie character. From there the show started going down the rails. While one might think Ashton Kutcher's arrival might save the show, he just wasn't able to replace the old Charlie. From then the show's humor got more evil and mean-spirited rather trying to be just funny. Apparently they thought turning the show's humor more grotesque will buy them new audiences.
Not until Charlie left, then...
It's just Game of Thrones for kids now.
When Saw first hit the screens in 2004, audiences had hardly seen anything like it before. The first installment of the Saw franchise made was praised for its psychological horror elements, with the Jigsaw Killer drawing comparisons to John Doe in Se7en.
The success of the first Saw movie was massive, making over $100 million against its comparatively low million dollar budget. The success of Saw resulted in an onslaught of sequels, with a new movie released annually for the next six years. The pressure of the franchise’s release schedule, however, resulted in steady decline in story quality. Fans and critics began to dismiss the series, no caring for the direcrion the series was taking.
While its self-titled debut was fairly entertaining & its sequel Rise of the Machines took it to another level with a standard blockbuster that had a great ending, Salvation took the 'future war' concept fans wanted to see and executed it terribly, while Genisys was just a mess from top to bottom.
Good news, I just heard that not only has James Cameron got the Terminator franchise back, he has declared Terminator 3 - Genisys non-canon. - SailorSedna
Salvation wasn't bad but definitely the worst of the series
I don't know what happened to Family Guy. Seasons 1-6 were pretty good and it could be an insightful, funny and even intelligent show. But it has gotten really bad since season 7. Family Guy is now one of the worst cartoons you will ever watch, the show is now a disturbing & unfunny shell of it's former self.
Just to point out how different pre-season 7 and post-season 7 Family Guy are, watch Road to Rhode Island, PTV and Airport '07 then (if you really want to) watch Seahorse Seashell Party, Screams of Silence: The Story of Brenda Q and Brian's A Bad Father. It's like watching two different shows but with the same characters and setting.
Want to know how bad it has become? Even Seth MacFarlane thinks the show should have ended by season 8.
While the first six seasons were great, its quality's been fluctuating since then. We have the more mediocre but passable seasons (Seasons 7, 8, 9 and 11), and then the really bad ones (Seasons 10, 12 and 13).
The first one was epic! Too bad there is nothing else to say.
This is one of those classic "the originals were great but the new ones are just okay."
Honestly don't agree, the franchise as gone up and done, the original was great, the prequels were ok, outside of episode three which was great, and the new trilogy was great/good/ok depending on the fan and the episode your talking about
Disney was a mistake for Star Wars, they ended Lucasarts and messed up the canon by removing everything cool. or changing the cool stuff like Thrawn and messing him and his arc beyond recognition.
I am obsessed with Star Wars, but Disney is milking this franchise to DEATH!
Once the third season ended this show got terrible. The new contestants weren't as good as the old ones and when they brought back the old contestants their personalities were changed so much they felt like lesser versions of themselves.
The only good seasons were the first, third and fourth ones. The others were pretty bad.
Many felt the movies were unnecessarily violent and that their storylines often fell apart due to unresolved cliffhanger endings and the complete abandonment of, what audiences assumed were, staple characters to the franchise.
