Best Marlon Brando Movies

The Top Ten
The Godfather

Number one on my list of best movies ever. I could watch this classic repeatedly and never tire of it. I read the book beforehand and saw the movie when it first premiered in theaters.

Brando's portrayal of Don Corleone is inspiring, showcasing his brilliant characterization.

In films, very few actors have reached that level of performance with such ease and control. Even the great Robert De Niro couldn't quite match the aura Brando created.

There are no words to express my feelings for this movie. Every time I watch it, I'm unsure whether to laugh or cry! All I can say is, "Watch it," and you won't regret it.

On the Waterfront

This is Marlon Brando at his best. You can feel the emotion that Brando brings to the role of Terry Malloy as he reacts to the world around him and seeks redemption for a life mired in corruption.

Without a doubt, this is one of the greatest movies ever made. The contrast between the black and white film and the superb cast under Elia Kazan's direction make it a timeless classic. Not to be missed by any film lover, Brando changes the world of acting with this astonishing picture.

A Streetcar Named Desire

Masterpiece. The Godfather doesn't give viewers the depth, sensitivity, and powerful quality that A Streetcar Named Desire offers.

I wonder why so many people are impressed by gangster movies. How do they speak to their lives? Are we serious right now?

Marlon Brando is a fantastic actor. I love him in most of his movies. I hesitated about picking A Streetcar Named Desire or On the Waterfront, but I finally decided he's absolutely hilarious in A Streetcar Named Desire.

Breathtaking performance. Hey, Stella!

Apocalypse Now

How is this not number one? It should be in the first place. Great movie, soundtrack, and performances. Brilliant and haunting.

The surreal take on war is brilliant and haunting. Sheen and Brando's performances elevated the film to another level.

Last Tango in Paris

This is Brando's finest performance, in my opinion. I like The Godfather better as a film, but this one captures Brando's darkest two hours on screen. The final scene, where he talks to his dead wife, was mostly improvised, which is astonishing.

Julius Caesar

This is the very best movie version of Shakespeare's play.

Watch his speech in this movie.

The Freshman
Superman

Best family-friendly movie so far.

The finesse-laden yet powerful nuances of Brando's acting are on display as he dominates the first 10-15 minutes of the best comic book movie ever made.

The Wild One

"The Wild One" is a landmark in many ways. It was one of the most important movies for a new generation of youngsters in the 1950s. Marlon Brando's style - wearing raw denim jeans, a white tee, and a biker jacket - is one of the most iconic looks in pop culture.

His rebellious performance as the motorcycle gang leader in "The Wild One" embodies the modern cowboy, an outsider who finds freedom riding highways across the USA. His peers established motorcycle clubs like the Hells Angels and Bandidos.

This is not only a top acting performance but also one of today's most iconic looks for rebellious youth.

The Island of Dr. Moreau

The Newcomers

? Superman II
? Candy (1968)
The Contenders
Reflections In a Golden Eye
The Young Lions

Totally underrated in this film. Better than A Streetcar Named Desire and The Godfather combined.

Best film by far. One of the best films about the Second World War.
Laclu

The Fugitive Kind
Christopher Columbus: The Discovery
Sayonara
One-Eyed Jacks

This was a spaghetti western before that genre even existed. The story was ahead of its time, once again showcasing Brando's versatility, vision, and daring.

A Countess from Hong Kong
Mutiny on the Bounty

Great from start to finish. Brando was the greatest.

One of the best films of all time, and Brando delivered a brilliant performance.

The Teahouse of the August Moon

Very funny movie. I love it, and Marlon was a genius. I like Japanese people, and this movie is really good.

The Chase
Burn!
The Men
A Dry White Season
The Missouri Breaks

The Missouri Breaks was one of Jack Nicholson's early movies.

Viva Zapata!
