Top 10 Most Disappointing Movies in the First Half of 2019
-
Hellboy
It's Hellboy. All you have to do is add a bunch of bloody action and you're guaranteed to make a good Hellboy movie, but the director decided to save all the good stuff until the last 30 minutes. It was too little too late at that point.
Not to mention, they made a terrible choice replacing the actor who played the titular character.
This was really disappointing. I like Hellboy a lot, but this movie is a huge step down from everything before it. Not as bad as everyone said it was, but it definitely needs a lot of improvement.

Glass
How in God's name could they butcher such an awesome concept?

Us
Expected something along the lines of the great Get Out, but instead got a boring movie with a pretty simple plot. Don't watch it if you're looking for something like Get Out.
-
Men in Black: International
What's the point of this movie again? The original Men in Black had cool and memorable characters, while this movie, though entertaining, didn't offer much in terms of character personality or plot.
Not horrible, but I wish I liked it more.
It was fun to watch, but I expected the plot to be better.
-
Aladdin
This movie actually wasn't bad. It was just okay.
-
The Curse of La Llorona
This movie had scares but is literally one of the most predictable things of this year.
-
Brightburn
-
The Secret Life of Pets 2
-
Dark Phoenix
Jean Grey's acting was horrible in the movie. She's a slog in this film, and everything feels slow.
Jean Grey is a terrible character to begin with, so I was expecting this to suck.
I think everybody expected this to be bad.

Captain Marvel
The most disappointing movie, they had made nothing but praised movies during the 3rd phase then this movie came out, it wasn't bad it just wasn't good like you had come to expect from the MCU
It's not bad but it should've been better.
-
Toy Story 4
It wasn't. I enjoyed it very much.
-
Pet Sematary
-
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
My main problem with these "giant monster" movies nowadays is that they focus too much on (A) being taken seriously and (B) human characters with the personality of a wet piece of cardboard.
Just embrace the sheer insanity of the concept and focus more on the action. In other words, make them more like the older "giant monster" movies.
Here's a rule: if you have a large and great ensemble cast, make sure they're interesting human characters. Otherwise, they become uninteresting and wooden when poorly written, perhaps.

Five Feet Apart
This movie trailer made it seem like it would be an emotional experience, but the movie is boring and full of overacting.
