The Top Ten
Forrest Gump
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

What's this doing at number 3? This should be number 1! It is colossal! It also has great themes about love, friendship, and life, which are executed perfectly.

The best one of the books and the movies. I cried after finishing the book when Frodo sits in his chair and says, "Well. I'm back."

The Godfather

Well, this one gets my vote. It's well filmed, well acted, dramatic, and violent. What more could you want?

This movie is an offer we can't refuse. It should be higher on this list.

Gone with the Wind
Jaws

There is a book, and it's garbage.

There's a book? I did not realize.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The Shining

I love you, Shining. Because it has snow in it, I told a director at a play audition it was my favorite Christmas movie. He hasn't called me back.

This is my all-time favorite movie. Basically, it is hugely different from the book, but they're both fantastic.

It's actually a lot more different from the book. Kubrick made a lot of changes to it.

The Shawshank Redemption

Why isn't this number 1? If you haven't seen this movie, you can't claim to know movies. If you have and don't think it's number 1, you just have bad taste.

Psycho

Based on a book that was based on a true story.

I didn't even know this was a book.

The Godfather Part II

The Newcomers

? The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Captures the innocence and wonder of the timeless children's classic.

? Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events

Its storytelling, visuals, and music perfectly capture the book.

The Contenders
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The Wizard of Oz
Die Hard
The Hunger Games

This was a great book series that was turned into an even better movie series.

Shouldn't even be in the top 30. Better than Psycho, Forrest Gump, and Gone with the Wind? Unbelievable.

I read the sequel and watched the films also in one month.

Goodfellas
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

This movie was amazing! I used to not care about it and thought it was overrated, but now I see why people like it. The first movie and the sequel were good, but as the actors matured over time, it started to get boring like an average British movie.

Why is this not number 1? These books will always be better than any other books on this list.

That was the best one out of the series, and they look so adorable as children!

Jurassic Park

My personal third favorite movie of all time.

People, please! How is this not on the list!

The Outsiders

This should be in the top ten! One of my favorite movies and books!

It's a Wonderful Life
The Lion King
Fight Club
The Fox and the Hound
Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2
