Top 10 Best BABYMETAL Songs

BABYMETAL is a Japanese pop/metal vocal and dance group, created as a subunit of the idol group Sakura Gakuin. The group originally consisted of three teenage members: Su-metal (lead vocals, dancing), Yuimetal (backing vocals, screaming, dancing), and Moametal (backing vocals, screaming, dancing).

They gained popularity due to their highly unique and catchy sound, which blends J-pop with heavy and extreme metal. BABYMETAL has managed to make their music both intense and "cute" simultaneously, creating a distinctive style that stands out in the music industry.

Their success has attracted the attention of prominent metal artists, including Matt Heafy (Trivium), Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth), Kirk Hammett (Metallica), and Michael Amott (Arch Enemy, Carcass, Spiritual Beggars). Photos of the group with each of these musicians have circulated widely, further cementing their reputation within the metal community.

BABYMETAL released their self-titled debut album in 2014. This album includes singles released between 2011 and 2013, along with their B-sides and three new songs. Their innovative sound won me over, and I'm here to share my list of their top 10 best songs.
The Top Ten
Megitsune

The singing in this song is just amazing! The instrumental work is really catchy. In the middle of the song, there's a great breakdown that would make you want to bang your head until it falls off!

The song is awesome and better than Justin Bieber's Baby. Hmm, I wonder how the song would sound when Justin Bieber sings it. Oh, why do I need to start? It will suck anyway. The song was totally epic.

Agreed! Indeed, this is their album's very best single. Headbanger is the second best. In my opinion, this is their best song of all time! Their first album is the best, and there are numerous favorite singles. This is the song that defines what Babymetal is.

Ijime, Dame, Zettai

IDZ is a perfect demonstration of everything that makes BABYMETAL awesome. Incredible vocals, outstanding choreography, mind-blowing instrumentals, and extremely meaningful lyrics with an important message (No More Bullying Forever). Throw in the fact that it opens with a Wall of Death, and this is easily their best song in my opinion.

The thing about this song that won me over was the instrumental work. Very power metal/melodic death metal-esque music. The singing, again, is amazing.

I really don't think you could beat this song. Seriously, it's too epic. Song of the year even, maybe.

Head Bangya!!

Catchy, but stays true to the metal genre. Watch the live video. The ending is actually pretty neat. Even if you're against the cute dancing aspect, it's still a great song.

I love the melody, especially in the middle where it gets really brutal but abruptly turns calmer.

As the title suggests, it's a real headbanger of a song. The music is very reminiscent of Children of Bodom in my opinion, and the vocal performance is, dare I say, kawaii as hell!

Road of Resistance

This song is powerful and uplifting while at the same time being insanely fun to listen to. It's one of the few songs I would give a perfect ten out of ten to, and that's completely disregarding the fact that it also introduced me to DragonForce.

Awesome guitars. Most heavy than any other Babymetal song.

Karate

The opening riff is godly. I swear, the Kami band does not get enough credit. Then the chorus is incredible. This song really is a masterpiece.

Not as hyper as Gimme Chocolate!!, but with a good strong set of drawn vocals and backing guitars. Definitely a song that makes me want to slow roll.

This is the only song I like by them. It's an interesting song, that's for sure.

Gimme Chocolate!!

This is better than everything else on this list, in my opinion.

This is so catchy and fun. I love it!

Akatsuki

This is a truly majestic power metal song. The guitar work in the song is amazing, the drumming is on point, and Su-metal's voice is absolutely mesmerizing. She's just 16, and she's already a better singer than the majority of female singers today. Incredible song.

Suzuka Nakamoto. Wow! Such a beautiful, pure, and haunting voice. This solo shows her true talent. I had the privilege of hearing it and seeing it live in The Forum, London, on BM's world tour. It was stunning.

Awesome song. Su's vocals are beautiful and amazing. Truly one of their best.

Iine!

This one is a lot more poppy and techy than their other songs. It shifts from techno to a cute little hip-hop section, and immediately into a brutal breakdown!

No Rain, No Rainbow
Awadama Fever

Accompanied by the most mesmerizing dance moves in the history of dance.

The Newcomers

? Mirror Mirror

Words do not describe my love for this song.

? Divine Attack - Shingeki -

This song has made me cry multiple times.

The Contenders
Doki Doki ☆ Morning

"Doki Doki Morning" is the best song Babymetal has offered.

Another kawaii metal masterpiece! And I believe this was their first single ever.

Catch Me If You Can

Awesome melody in the chorus. Really nice nu metal sound with a very good homage to classic Slipknot. It's a super fun and catchy song with their best dance routine of all their songs, and it represents all the members well. Like a BABYMETAL song should do, it has the perfect mix of kawaii and metal. My favorite BABYMETAL song and one of my favorite songs of all time!

This riff reminds us metalheads of old school Slipknot. Pretty good song.

Tales of the Destinies

I love how they put a little of The One in here to make it sound a little peppier, and then a techno piece in the middle. The piano at the end is the most beautiful part, though.

The One

One of the most perfect songs to encapsulate the band.

Babymetal Death

The opener to their album and a b-side to the Ijime Dame Zettai single, this is basically their "theme" song. The only vocal performance consists of the chanting of "Hey!" and the three girls each saying their stage name followed by a unanimous "Babymetal desu!" I like it because it really gets a crowd pumped for the rest of the live set, and the music sounds very Arch Enemy/old In Flames-esque. Great song!

My mistake. The chanting in the song is actually the band's name being spelled out. It took literally forever for me to get that.

Amore
Distortion
Rondo of Nightmare

Really heavy and dark song. Almost sounds like Periphery.

Onedari Daisakusen
Kagerou

My favorite song by them of all time. This song pulled me out of the BM fog when things got weird (Chosen 7) after Yui left.

Monochrome
Uki Uki ★ Midnight
Syncopation
GJ!
Sis. Anger
