1 "To my ears, it sounds like, "bdLOOP, bdLoop, bdLOOP, bdLoop," - Marty Friedman (Sweep Picking)

He's the only guitarist I have ever head saying sweep picking doesn't sound good to him.

Childish comment, but sweep picking is the best thing about guitar, so...

Thanks for your detailed explanation, zxm. Now everything is clear.

I don't know the context of this quote but are you sure he also wanted to say he doesn't like it?
I can say, to my ears djent guitar sounds like, "djent djent djent" but it doesn't mean I hate this sound.
Also, Marty often worked with Jason Becker who is a sweep picker...

2 "You can go back and watch the tape and ugh laugh" - Jason Becker (Sweep Picking)

His quote at the end of his sweep picking arpeggios explanation. We can't laugh but wonder we never got another better sweep picker than a teenager.

3 "When I was first learning this technique, I often heard it referred to as raking, as the movement is not unlike pulling a rake along the ground in one unbroken movement and direction" - Michael Angelo Batio (Sweep Picking)
4 "And it's something that's overdone a lot, so you have to be careful with it. I actually stopped using it very early on in my career. But, it's fun to play around with it once in a while" - Alex Skolnick (Whammy Bar)

Don't overdo it. Otherwise you'll end up breaking something of your guitar.

5 "You can't tell me which fingers I am using, this hand or that hand. You tell me, right hand or left hand? I'm using both" - Eddie Van Halen (Tapping)
6 "That's on a rough morning, you can still do that" - Frank Gambale (Sweep Picking)
7 "I remember looking up the word in dictionary and said notes to the chords played separately, then uh, it just didn't hit in there" - Paul Gilbert (Sweep Picking Arpeggios)

Arpeggio isn't any technique, that's why I added sweep picking to it. Anyways, but actually people makes the term arpeggio difficult. Its very simple term. You just pick your notes each at a time rather then playing it simultaneously. That's it.

8 "It's just a little twist, twist this way, that way" - B.B. King (Vibrato)
9 "It's really a pretty difficult technique" - Paul Gilbert (Sweep Picking)
10 "I thought "What the hell is he doing?" - Ritchie Blackmore (Tapping)
