Top 10 Best Songs from Kollegah's & Farid Bang's "Jung Brutal Gutaussehend 2"

"Jung Brutal Gutaussehend 2" is the second collaborative album between the popular German rappers Kollegah and Farid Bang, released in 2013. Since both are among the most loved and acclaimed figures in modern hip-hop, as well as personal friends, the album was highly anticipated. It topped the charts in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. Like its predecessor, it was later indexed for its violent lyrics, which means it cannot be sold openly in stores. However, this is not the same as a ban. The album can still be sold but not in regular online stores or displayed openly in physical shops. Typically, albums that are indexed are no longer produced afterward, making them sought-after rarities.

As a result, the album wasn't widely available for some time. Recently, however, Farid Bang, who owned the rights to the album, found a clever workaround to temporarily make it widely available for download again. Since it would have legal consequences for Farid Bang to sell the album directly online, he transferred the rights to a 12-year-old boy, who then sold the album in the iTunes Store. This explains why, instead of the original artwork featuring the two rappers, the album displayed a cheap-looking montage of photos of this boy. Because legal actions cannot be taken against anyone under the age of 14 in this context, authorities were unable to effectively block this release. Although the album will likely be taken down eventually, several fans, including me, were able to purchase it during this window. Time will tell if this move will have any legal consequences for Farid Bang.

Despite being a fan of both rappers - especially Kollegah - I hadn't listened to this album until now because it was indexed shortly before I became a fan. Finally getting the chance to hear it was incredible. The album is exactly what I love in hip-hop: multisyllabic rhyming, hard-hitting punchlines (sometimes literally), heavy beats, and clever wordplay. The synergy between these two talented MCs creates a striking force that makes this album truly special. I only wish they had re-released the first "Jung Brutal Gutaussehend" as well.

Looking ahead, "Jung Brutal Gutaussehend 3" is set to release this month. I swear, this time I will make sure to get the physical album on time!
