The Woodstock 1999 riots
Four particularly horrible incidents happened during Woodstock '99. They are:
1. During Limp Bizkit's performance, violent actions occurred with fans tearing plywood from the walls during a performance of the song "Break Stuff."
2. During the Red Hot Chili Peppers' performance of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire," audience members began to light candles, and some also used the candles and lighters to start bonfires. Hundreds of empty plastic water bottles that littered the lawn area were used as fuel for the fire, which had spread to both stages by the end of the performances. Eventually, the audio tower caught fire, and the fire department was called in to extinguish it.
3. During Metallica's performance, a man was injured after collapsing in a mosh pit, not dying as some reports incorrectly stated.
4. The band "Tragically Hip" was booed, reportedly due to dissatisfaction with their performance rather than their nationality.
In addition, there were reports of sexual assault, widespread destruction, and burglary of vendor booths.

Trampling deaths of nine fans at Pearl Jam's Roskilde Festival concert
On June 3, 2000, nine fans were crushed underfoot and suffocated to death as the crowd rushed to the front. After numerous requests for the crowd to step back, the band stopped playing and tried to calm the situation when they realized what was happening. Unfortunately, it was already too late.
The two remaining dates of the tour were canceled, and members of the band even contemplated retiring after this tragic event.

Michael Jackson's child molestation accusations
In the summer of 1993, Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse by a 13-year-old boy, Jordan Chandler, and his father, Evan Chandler, a dentist. Jackson eventually settled the case with the Chandlers out of court for $22 million.
Ten years later, in 2003, Jackson was indicted on charges including four counts of molesting a minor, four counts of intoxicating a minor to molest him, one count of attempted child molestation, and one count of conspiring to hold the boy and his family captive at his 2,700-acre Neverland Ranch, as well as conspiring to commit extortion and child abduction.
And now that that documentary is out, more people would believe this. Please, just let the man rest!

Finally, he was murdered in December 1980 by Mark David Chapman, who was reportedly influenced by Lennon's "more popular than Jesus" remark.

The Altamont Speedway Free Festival disaster
In 1969, The Rolling Stones were at the height of their fame and decided to end their American tour by giving a free concert at Altamont Speedway. This concert is a laundry list of mistakes no artist should make when planning an open-air concert, such as moving the location at the last minute after failing to have enough time and manpower for the initial location, not having enough basic accommodations for the crowd, such as toilets, food, and drinks, building a stage that was less than 40 inches off the ground, and, most importantly, hiring the Hells Angels as security guards. This horrid mistake resulted in the Hells Angels killing fan Meredith Hunter and multiple incidents. This infamous event is largely credited with ending the hippie era.

Marilyn Manson being falsely blamed for the Columbine High School massacre
On April 20, 1999, two students of Columbine High School, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, shot and killed 12 students and one teacher. Early reports linked Manson to the tragedy after some speculated that Harris and Klebold were fans, though this was later proven false. Some early headlines read, "Killers Worshipped Rock Freak Manson" and "Devil-Worshipping Maniac Told Kids To Kill."
Manson later stated that being blamed for Columbine nearly ruined his career. He claimed that he had to pursue legal action against those associating his name with the shooting. He says that he has been blamed for more deaths than any musical artist in history.
