Worst Music Moments of All Time

This is a list of the worst music moments of all time. Although musician deaths are eligible for this list, this list mainly focuses on the most disgraceful moments in music history.
The Top Ten
Murder of John Lennon

On the evening of December 8, 1980, Lennon was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman, who was incensed by Lennon's "more popular than Jesus" remark.

The worst loss and greatest heartbreak of all time. Still miss him.

A former Beatle had a successful solo career, and then his life was cut too short.

Dimebag Darrell gets shot and killed onstage

He was shot and killed by an audience member while performing onstage with Damageplan on December 8, 2004.

Woodstock 1999 riots

Four particularly horrible incidents happened during Woodstock '99. They are:

1. During Limp Bizkit's performance, violent actions occurred with fans tearing plywood from the walls during a performance of the song "Break Stuff."
2. During the Red Hot Chili Peppers' performance of Jimi Hendrix's "Fire," audience members began to light candles, and some also used the candles and lighters to start bonfires. Hundreds of empty plastic water bottles that littered the lawn area were used as fuel for the fire, which had spread to both stages by the end of the performances. Eventually, the audio tower caught fire, and the fire department was called in to extinguish it.
3. During Metallica's performance, a man was injured after collapsing in a mosh pit, not dying as some reports incorrectly stated.
4. The band "Tragically Hip" was booed, reportedly due to dissatisfaction with their performance rather than their nationality.

In addition, there were reports of sexual assault, widespread destruction, and burglary of vendor booths.

Audience gets trampled during The Who concert resulting in the death of 11 people

This was very sad. All these people wanted to do was go to a concert and have some fun, and then this happened.

The world has been a horrible place for a very long time, and it's so heartbreaking.

Michael Jackson accused of child molestation

In the summer of 1993, Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse by a 13-year-old boy, Jordan Chandler, and his father, Evan Chandler, a dentist. Jackson eventually settled the case with the Chandlers out of court for $22 million.

Ten years later, in 2003, Jackson was indicted on charges including four counts of molesting a minor, four counts of intoxicating a minor to molest him, one count of attempted child molestation, and one count of conspiring to hold the boy and his family captive at his 2,700-acre Neverland Ranch, as well as conspiring to commit extortion and child abduction.

Audience gets trampled during Pearl Jam concert resulting in the death of 9 people

On June 3, 2000, nine fans were crushed underfoot and suffocated to death as the crowd rushed to the front. After numerous requests for the crowd to step back, the band stopped playing and tried to calm the situation when they realized what was happening. Unfortunately, it was already too late.

The two remaining dates of the tour were canceled, and members of the band even contemplated retiring after this tragic event.

Drive-by murder of Tupac Shakur
Kurt Cobain's suicide

I won't be listing all the deaths of musicians, just the ones that were extremely notorious. There are already many lists that focus on musician deaths. This list mainly focuses on the many disgraceful moments in music history.

On April 8, 1994, Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of the grunge band Nirvana, was found dead at his home in Seattle, Washington. Cobain was found with a gunshot wound, with a shotgun across his body, and had a visible head wound and a suicide note. After his death, many conspiracy theories emerged, suggesting that his then-wife Courtney Love had murdered him.

The Newcomers

? U2 give away their album Songs of Innocence for free on everyone's iPhones
? Jerry Lee Lewis marries his underage cousin

When Jerry Lee Lewis traveled to England in 1958 for his first overseas tour, he brought his wife Myra. The tabloids quickly found out about Myra's true identity, revealing that she was 13 and actually Jerry's cousin. The tour was subsequently canceled, he was unable to book another tour or make more hits, and the scandal followed him until the end of his life.

The Contenders
Kanye West interrupts Taylor Swift's award acceptance speech to announce that Beyoncé deserved that award

This happened during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. While Taylor Swift was accepting her award for Best Female Video for "You Belong with Me," West went on stage and grabbed the microphone to proclaim that Beyoncé's video for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)," nominated for the same award, was "one of the best videos of all time."

The murder of The Notorious B.I.G.
Rumors that Paul McCartney was dead

Not one of the worst music moments, but it is pretty annoying and hilarious at the same time.

Conspiracy theories are just stupid most of the time.

John Lennon says the Beatles were more popular than Jesus

He made this comment during an interview with the London newspaper "Evening Standard." This remark created enormous controversy in the U.S., especially among Christian communities. Extensive protests broke out, some radio stations stopped playing Beatles songs, their records were publicly burned, press conferences were canceled, and threats were made.

Finally, he was murdered in December 1980 by Mark David Chapman, who was reportedly influenced by Lennon's "more popular than Jesus" remark.

Rolling Stones at Altamont incident

In 1969, The Rolling Stones were at the height of their fame and decided to end their American tour by giving a free concert at Altamont Speedway. This concert is a laundry list of mistakes no artist should make when planning an open-air concert, such as moving the location at the last minute after failing to have enough time and manpower for the initial location, not having enough basic accommodations for the crowd, such as toilets, food, and drinks, building a stage that was less than 40 inches off the ground, and, most importantly, hiring the Hells Angels as security guards. This horrid mistake resulted in the Hells Angels killing fan Meredith Hunter and multiple incidents. This infamous event is largely credited with ending the hippie era.

Marilyn Manson gets falsely blamed for Columbine shootings

On April 20, 1999, two students of Columbine High School, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, shot and killed 12 students and one teacher. Early reports linked Manson to the tragedy after some speculated that Harris and Klebold were fans, though this was later proven false. Some early headlines read, "Killers Worshipped Rock Freak Manson" and "Devil-Worshipping Maniac Told Kids To Kill."

Manson later stated that being blamed for Columbine nearly ruined his career. He claimed that he had to pursue legal action against those associating his name with the shooting. He says that he has been blamed for more deaths than any musical artist in history.
