Kyrgyzstan, officially the Kyrgyz Republic, formerly known as Kirghizia, is a landlocked country located in Central Asia. ...read more.
Yes, so few people know the Central Asian countries. Some of the more nerdy ones like me ;) will know Kazakhstan, the economically best country there, and Turkmenistan because of their really insane rulers. Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are forgotten a lot. Uzbekistan is known a lot because of world history though (Samarkand is located in it), and so that leaves us with these two. Some people on the internet even made a joke which referred to Kyrgyzstan as "WTFstan" to most people.
I knew for sure that: 1. It was part of the Soviet Union, 2. It's in Central Asia.
Not sure but maybe: 1. People are Muslims, 2. There are many mountains, 3. The country is kinda underdeveloped, mostly rural (sheeps? ).
Their flag looks like a communist Xbox logo.
No...I don't think so.
Might be for those who are weak in GK or geography.
Timor is an island at the southern end of Maritime Southeast Asia, in the north of the Timor Sea. The island is divided between the sovereign states of East Timor on the eastern part and Indonesia on the western part. The Indonesian part, also known as West Timor, constitutes part of the province of East Nusa Tenggara. Within West Timor lies an exclave of East Timor called Oecusse District. The island covers an area of 30,777 square kilometres (11,883 square miles). The name is a variant of timur, Malay for "east"; it is so called because it lies at the eastern end of the Lesser Sunda Islands. Mainland Australia is less than 500 km away, separated by the Timor Sea.
This list is very good - most of the countries are really obscure.
I've never heard of anything like it.
This will be on the top of list because I am from Asia and never heard of for at least 22years

Somebody good at geography like me even though I'm 9,could mix this up with Vanuatu because of the simalar names.

If you knew what Sao Tome and Principe was before reading this list, you don't stop lying. I know people who have heard of NAURA and not STP

Last year I read an adventure fiction book - two Brits were looking for a buried treasure in Ethiopia and Sudan, and the civil war in South Sudan played an important role in this book.
So that's all I know - it's in northeastern Africa, close to Ethiopia. Underdeveloped and poor country.
Main reason that no one knows about South Sudan is because it became a country in 2012 and all the maps are still outdated. I guess that could work the other way around as well, but my television in America use said 'oh there is a new country in Africa' and nothing more
Its kinda famous other than less known but the reason people don't know this country is because 1.it's the newest country and un member as it gained independence from sudan in 2011. 2. some maps are outdated and still have south sudan in ''north'' sudan. 3. medias don't really report on the country but there's ongoing war there. It's a very poor, and underdeveloped country
Come on, a civil war is going on here and almost no media reports on it...

Not only a lot of people don't know what this country is but a lot of people also get the name wrong. Although it's spelled Kiribati it's actually pronounced Kiribas because in the country they speak a language called gilbertese which is a language where the letter ''S'' does not exist but the word ''ti'' is spelled as an ''S''. And since the word Kiribati is a gilbertes word and has ''ti'' at the end the name is pronounced Kiribas.
Not a lot of people know this so this is good.
