Top 10 Cities with the Best Sports Fans
Chicago is obviously the best sports city, from Wrigley to U.S. Cellular/Comiskey. Cubs fans consistently attend games and support their team no matter how bad they are. White Sox fans are very passionate, especially when they see a Cubs fan. Bulls games are very exciting. With the Madhouse on Madison rocking, you can't hear yourself think.
Even though the Chicago Stadium isn't around anymore, it was arguably one of the loudest and best atmospheres to be in as a fan. Hawks games are killer, with the signature national anthem that gets loud cheers throughout. Bears fans are easily some of the best, as they brave the freezing weather to support their team every game. All Chicago athletes will tell you that the fans are amazing since we are always loud and present. The Hawks have had 200+ sellouts in a row.
Not to mention that at most games on the road, the other team's stadium contains mostly Chicago fans. Need I say that a few years ago the Bulls received MVP chants at away stadiums as well? Chicago fans aren't confined to Chicago. They are all over the U.S., making the most hostile environments more welcoming to our teams.
In no other city are fans as hard on their players because we want them to do well so badly. The Yankees have spoiled us for the last 17/18 years, but man, the day the Knicks win their first championship in 40 years will be a day I never forget.
The Rangers have won one Stanley Cup in the last 73 years, but we still stick with them every year because they're our team. No city cares more about sports than we do... and I'd bet on that.
LET'S GO YANKEES, KNICKS, RANGERS!
We have the best fan base. If you go to a Giants, Jets, Yankees, or Knicks game, you can see that we want our team to win. I went to a Knicks game a few months ago, and they sucked this year, but you could see that we wanted them to win. They lost.
Denver and Cleveland are my two favorite cities, but Cleveland fans are some of the most loyal you'll find. I have family in Ohio, and they are always wearing their Indians or Browns jerseys. It doesn't matter if they go 0-16 or lose the World Series, they won't leave Cleveland.
When you have places like Detroit, New York, and Green Bay over Cleveland, it's hard to take this list seriously. In my opinion, Cleveland fans are top 3, at least top 5.
Great fan turnout despite poor team results. Owners and management should be ashamed of how they've treated Cleveland fans.
Detroit fans are the best in the world! We're blue-collar, hardworking people, and we expect our sports teams to be the same. We're extremely loyal and dedicated to our teams! If you haven't been to a game in Detroit, surrounded by all the fans, you haven't been to a real game.
Should be number one, honestly. Four major sports, three competitive. (Hockeytown) Biggest college football stadium (Ann Arbor).
All four teams have experienced success (Lions: before the Super Bowl era), and our fans have always been there to root them on, especially in hockey (Hockeytown).
Boston has true fans, as does Chicago. Whenever the Celtics play the Bulls, it is an intense rivalry, but it is respected. Speaking of true fans brings me to mention New York. There are too many bandwagon fans who know nothing about the Yankees but still represent the team by wearing their hats.
If you hate New England fans, think first. In baseball, we hate the Yankees. In basketball, we hate the Lakers (and the Heat because of Ray... smh). In hockey, we hate the Canadiens. And in football... well, we don't like many teams, but mostly the Giants.
Passion. You want passionate fans? This is Philly. Hated by others for the exact reason that makes them the best sports fans in the world. Philadelphia fans will be there for their teams regardless of their record. When they're good, they'll cheer. When they're bad, they'll boo. These fans are an extension of their team. They're real.
Boston sucks, New York sucks, Chicago sucks, and the other cities aren't even worth mentioning (i.e., Pittsburgh). Philly fans rule! Most intense, loyal, loudest, and dedicated fans in the world!
Packers fans are amazing. They're the only team in all of major North American sports to be owned by the fans. The Packers have sold out every single home game since 1960. That's 80,000 fans per game from a city with a population of only 100,000. Additionally, their season ticket waiting list is over 110,000 people. If you get on the list, you likely won't get season tickets in your lifetime.
The Green Bay Packers are simply the best sports franchise on the face of the Earth. Owned by its fans. No other organization can say this. How much closer can you get to your team?
Royals: 800,000 people at a parade! Chiefs! Sporting KC! Even something for the NASCAR enthusiasts. Great college basketball in and around town, not to mention the Big 12 and NAIA tournaments and the College Basketball Hall of Fame. The amazing Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
Next year, the National Championships of skating and probably another World Series championship. We could go on and on...
The Chiefs and Royals fanbases are some of the most passionate around. Just imagine waiting so long for a Super Bowl and World Series, supporting the Chiefs and Royals through thick and thin. It's been rough at times, but we remain loyal.
Avalanche! Rapids! Broncos! The other teams aren't performing as well at the moment, but they still receive great fan support.
Broncos fans are the best! The stadium has been sold out for years. It's always a fun place to go.
The English are fanatics like no other. Minus one to Philly. Their fans are just plain disrespectful.
Granted, it's one of the smallest markets in all of sports, but anybody who grew up with the Sabres or the Bills will tell you that it's more than just a part of our culture. Those teams are a part of our soul.
Gritty, tough, and never give up after all these years.
No other city has fans as dedicated as Buffalo.
Steelers, Pens, Bucs! I could talk about how awesome they are, but this is about the fans of Pittsburgh. Being a Pitt guy that lives in the South, I do not get to go to many home games like when I was young. I have seen my teams on the road, though, and I've got to say Pittsburgh fans travel well, especially the Steelers.
I went to a Steelers-Titans game in Nashville last year, and it was easily 2 to 1 in favor of Steelers fans. It felt like a home game. The game in Jerry World two years ago was almost 50/50, even in the heart of Cowboy country. AMAZING! Pens fans travel really well too. The Bucs have been bad for a while, but the fans have been loyal and well-deserving of last year's success. Finally!
Here we go, Steelers!
Let's go, Bucs!
Let's go, Pens!
Saint Louis has the best sports fans in the nation, no doubt. What you find here, you won't find anywhere else. We take pride in all our teams, no matter what. Where else can you go that does the same?
We live and breathe sports and we don't buy our way to the top. We have some of the greatest players of all time, thanks to all the amazing support they get from us fans!
It's easy to root for your team when they're winning, but much harder when the chips are down. Seattle fans pass the loyalty test! Seahawks, Mariners, Sounders, Storm - plus all the transplants who remain classy when their home teams come to town!
With the fields so close to downtown and Husky Stadium within walking distance, Seattle is the best!
If you're basing it on loyalty, Seattle wins by a landslide. The Mariners don't get as much loyalty for some reason. I agree that I'm not that into them, even when they were pretty good. But Sonics, Sounders, Storm, and Seahawks fans have gone through some tough times. Even when they're doing badly, Hawks and all, tickets get sold out quickly.
AND NOW WE WON THE SUPER BOWL! Hahaha! #Winning #HawkDynasty #Finally
Their teams are consistently terrible and never make the postseason. Yet, they are still die-hard to the end and will defend their team's honor.
It's like a bad joke. American sports fans sit throughout the game. Have you ever watched a Beşiktaş match? We have a world record of 131 dB. The English fans were shocked and recording videos. In Istanbul, if you sit, you can't watch the match because 40,000 people are standing and shouting. America thinks being a good fan means waving hands while shooting a free throw.
Come on, we overpower all the other cities in the sports that we can afford. We may not be rich, but we still show amazing support.
Per capita, Baltimore has the most and best sports fans anywhere. We love our Birds!
