Top 10 Best British Comedy Shows of All Time
-
The IT Crowd
Ah yes, this is great! Lost to Friday Night Dinner in the end, but this is still a very hilarious show. Maurice Moss just makes this show.
Anyone who calls this show unfunny should be turned off, then back on again.

Monty Python's Flying Circus
Does nobody here see that the show is Monty Python's Flying Circus, not just Monty Python? I mean, Monty Python could refer to any of their live shows or their films, but since this is a list of British comedy shows, just Monty Python should not be on the list.
The best Brits around! The troupe Monty Python are surely the greatest comedy act of all time, without a doubt. Their jokes are clever, witty, and just silly! (I agree. Silly, silly, silly!)
This should be number 1. All these shows on the list wouldn't be the same without Monty Python.

The Inbetweeners
The Inbetweeners is a British coming-of-age sitcom that aired from 2008 to 2010. Created by Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, the show follows four socially awkward teenage boys as they navigate school life, friendships, and the awkward transition to adulthood. The series is known for its realistic portrayal... read more
This and Only Fools and Horses should be at the top. The Inbetweeners is just so hilarious and rude - it's amazing. Will, Jay, and Neil are so funny. Loads of new words have been invented from this show, and it's the funniest show of this century.
Rude, but we all admit it's hilarious!

Red Dwarf
Red Dwarf is a British science fiction comedy franchise that primarily consists of a television sitcom. It originally aired on BBC Two from 1988 to 1999 and was revived on the channel Dave starting in 2009. The show has gained a significant cult following.
The only show that ever managed to get sci-fi plus comedy right! The plots were equally brilliant and hilarious. Not to mention an amazing cast with perfect chemistry!
The true cult classic. It never ages.
-
Fawlty Towers
Fawlty Towers is a British television sitcom created by John Cleese and Connie Booth. It aired on BBC2 in 1975 and 1979, with two series consisting of six episodes each. The show is widely regarded as one of the greatest British sitcoms of all time due to its sharp writing and iconic performances.
I've watched all 12 episodes, and they still make me laugh every time I watch them! That's the sign of a truly great series. Best Britcom ever!
One of the funniest shows of all time. Everyone in the cast is outstanding.
Way better than Blackadder. John Cleese is amazing, and every episode is very funny.

Blackadder
Blackadder is a series of four BBC1 pseudohistorical British sitcoms, plus several one-off installments, which originally aired in the 1980s. Each series stars Rowan Atkinson as a member of the Blackadder dynasty in different historical periods. The show is known for its sharp wit, satirical humor, and... read more
Best comedy ever. "As cunning as a fox who's just been appointed professor of cunning at Oxford University" gives it away!
Blackadder is at number 9? This is easily the best sitcom of all time, let alone the best British comedy. Awful list.
I just love every instance where Baldrick gets up and says, I have a cunning plan!
-
Mr. Bean
I was first introduced to Mr. Bean on VHS when I was a kid. Now it's 2017, and I have started to rewatch it on YouTube. I couldn't believe seeing Mr. Bean again - I was so excited! Some of the episodes made me laugh so hard, some left me dreaming about them, and others left me speechless, especially when he used Teddy as a paintbrush.
Overall, what a hilarious man-child he is! Highly intelligent but sometimes arrogant and mean. But hey, hands down, he is the best TV character and the best show from the UK!
Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean is one of the funniest things in the world. He is such an amazing actor, and this show of only 13 episodes has often been named one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. It's my seventh favorite show and my favorite British show. I also like Fawlty Towers (#9) and Monty Python's Flying Circus (#13).
-
Peep Show
Mark and Jeremy are the funniest comedy characters ever. Johnson and Super Hans are great too.
This is really the only modern sitcom alongside The Office that should be in the top ten.

Horrible Histories

The Goes Wrong Show
I added this item. It's so funny that I laugh all the way through episodes, and my sides end up aching as a result!
You can watch it on the BBC iPlayer (at the time of writing), and you can purchase Series 1 on DVD.
Series 2 is on the way. It can't come quickly enough!

Bottom
Adrian Edmondson and Rik Mayall together make this a laugh-filled series about two guys who just want to "do it." It is a ridiculous, hilarious series that belongs at least in the top ten. Eddie and Richie are a violent, drunken pair who know how to make people laugh! Go Bottom!

Friday Night Dinner
If you don't know this show, you HAVE to see it! The characters, humor, scenarios - EVERYTHING is just done so brilliantly! Definitely one of the best comedies on TV today!
Funniest show on TV. The characters are great, and the casting is perfect. Martin is just hilarious, as is Jim. The humor is so funny and will get you in hysterics every episode, guaranteed.
Just discovered it recently. It's brilliant. The neighbor, Jim, is absolutely hilarious.
And the Martins' mother is really rude!

Dad's Army
This should be first because it's a great comedy. My dad showed it to me and my brother, and we loved it more than Fawlty Towers, Mr. Bean, and 'Allo 'Allo!
Godfrey, Jones, Mainwaring, Wilson, Pike, Fraser, Walker. Your actors make this the greatest comedy of all time. Go Dad's Army!
So funny. It should be much higher. Some of the funniest moments in classic comedy.
-
The Mighty Boosh
The absolute best show in the world! I highly recommend it (you most likely will fall in love with Noel Fielding). I've been a fan for most of my life and have been to both live shows! Impeccable. (My sisters saw more shows than me because they are older and were... y'know... actually alive.) Ooh, plus Noel Fielding is the nicest celebrity ever - don't @ me. I've met him 6 times, and he's lovely.
This show is highly entertaining. To be honest, it's never really made me die of laughter (well, it has sometimes), but it's addicting, very interesting, and fun. You'll love it. "So come with us now on a journey through time and space to the world of The Mighty Boosh" - you won't regret it (unless you don't like surreal humor, because in that case, you're stuffed).

Mrs. Brown's Boys
Honestly, you can't think that anything is funnier than Mrs. Brown's Boys.
It is hilarious. Bad as.
