Top Ten Most Instantly Recognisable Flags
The Union Flag was (and still is) flown all across the globe. It was the symbol of the Empire upon which the sun never set.
The 3 individual flags that make the Union Flag though? Probably not as well recognised around world (though I would find that surprising as a Brit).
Damn straight, numbers one and two. Could argue bout the order, given the similarity to Australia and New Zealand (and on a few other grounds), but what the hell: Rule Brittania! (Just not here)
The Union Jack is instantly recognisable because;
1. Everyone knows what the UK is. Simple. It's up there with US, India, Russia, China, Germany, Australia, and possibly Canada and Japan.
2. It features on the flag of Australia, New Zealand, and many Pacific nations.
3. It featured on the flag of the old British colonial nations (Canada, 13 Colonies, India, South Africa, Rhodesia, etc.)
Yep those Stars and Stripes are a beautiful sight
