Worst Countries to Live In
The Contenders: Page 2
I'm brazilian, and to be honest I hate living here, violence, corruption, poverty and a list of issues that we have here.
I'm Brazilian and like 95% of Brazilians we hate our government, Brazil is the world capital of corruption. Corruption there is everywhere, you have a lot of poverty, there are more than 40000 murders a year. You have to live always taking care about things to avoid to be stolen. You couldn't get out late in some places. You always have a fear about that.
Government charges a lot in everything from citizens and there are many profiteers who charge more expensive to extort money from you.
You have to spend almost a day (8 hours) waiting for public free medical treatment and about 2 hours in private medical institutions.
The politicians just do things thinking in reelection. Parlamentarians are always increasing their own pay.
In biggest cities you spent about 2 hours to go to work and the public transportation sucks.
If you live there every day you will get noticed about new violent crimes and new political scandal about corruption.
Corruption, violence (just in some cities) and all here is expensive.

Living in Russia... What a nightmare. Imagine living in a ugly, gray place that sometimes resembles an industrial complex, sometimes slums, sometimes a Gulag. Imagine living among ugly, drunken, primitive, boorish oafs who have no respect for each other and mostly malevolent intentions toward foreigners. Imagine living in a place, which's corruption and crime rates often surpass the worst African countries. Imagine living life in fear of corrupt, brutal and utterly demoralized government with recent history of atrocities. Imagine that you'd have to restort to petty lies every day, just to survive. And in the end, try to imagine it's 10 times worse than all I typed. Then you'll have a somewhat accurate idea of living in Russia.
Don't get me wrong, Russia is a cool place to visit, to see some historical stuff (something you folks from the US and Canada don't really have). However, living here is a struggle. I'm so envy of my friends who are living in Toronto cause it's such a nice place to be. I saw so many happy people there. And you know, when you're happy and you don't have many serious problems to worry about, you start caring more about other people. In Russia people don't get a about others but it's not because Russians are bad, it's just a context in which everyone would become indifferent and crazy. It's also sucks to be an ugly girl here. You try so hard to keep up with other girls but guys are very superficial here (even though they themselves are ugly). If you see a good-looking Russian guy, he is 99% an ignorant and stupid. Women here have to be pretty in order to survive and we are taught from our early childhood that woman's only true goal is to marry a man. Maybe it will give you an idea why ...more
Deserves to be number 2 behind North Korea. Sure, one of America's main flaws is homophobia, but at least homosexuals usually don't get beaten and killed on the streets, let alone encouraged and endorsed by the government (which is the case in Russia). Even in the Deep South, this form of assault is a criminal offense and the worst thing that happens to gays there is either being forced to repent at Church or leave for more liberal cities in the South where tolerance towards homosexuality is higher, like Atlanta, Charlotte, and Houston. And let's not talk about poverty. Once again, the US has flaws that it needs to work on, but Russia is FAR more regressive than America when it comes to civil rights and human rights in general. I don't see why the USA is number 2 on the list when Russia is not even in the top 20.

WORST COUNTRY TO LIVE IN! If you ever want to come in here for whatever (crazy) reason you have for doing that, I recommend you to think again.. and if you still want to come you better hit your head really hard, coming in here IT'S LIKE GOING TO HELL! I had the bad luck of being born in this place, which is full of: corrupted people, thieves and all worst things you could ever imagine. EVERYTHING is on sale in here, just show some "green" bills and they'll do anything, kill someone, betray their family, betray a friend.. there's no honor in here. All cops/soldiers are bought and do nothing to "defend" what is right. there're no laws in here.. if you get killed, your family get murdered, someone steals something from you.. I don't know whatever there's NOBODY to help you. I can't wait to leave this place, this country is a JOKE. (500 people aprox get killed every single weekend, something you buy today for 5$ might be 10 or even 15$ tomorrow, there's no toilet ...more
Venezuela right now is very messed up. I'm Venezuelan and at a very young age, I moved to the US, and boy, am I glad. My dad has to work there and sometimes he doesn't even get to return home! The protests are crazy, but if it is what it has to do then let it do it. Venezuela is thought to be a very rich country because it has the most oil, but trust me, they only sell THAT. If I were the Venezuelan President, I would have changed things a little bit so I could also get money on three other things that Venezuela should be flourishing with: tourism, food production and fishing. The beaches and natural landmarks should really attract people, a whole bunch of forest really helps it to produce food, and it borders so much water, it should MASTER at fishing! I hope Nicolas Maduro is reading this, because Maduro in Spanish is mature, and he is really not living up to his last name.

Jewish people ran away from persecution from the Nazis, and know Palestinian people ran from Israeli persecution. Did you ever think of that you hopeless Jews?
After the Holocaust during WW2 the Jews said "we must never forget" and "We must never let this happen again" Agree 100%. So why are they doing the exact same thing to another people? Its hypocritical. Israel reminds me of the kid who get bullied so much that they flip out and shoot the school up. I feel for them that they really have been shat upon for most of history but that's not an excuse to turn around and dish it out to others. The Jews have a choice: their history could teach them compassion or vengeance. Up to them to decide.
Just because of religion and independence, Israel and Palestine have been battling for years. There's no ceasefire. Schools have been destroyed, with innocent children being killed/injured. There's always sounds of explosions through the nights, and troops killing people. It is a sad sight to see. It is, however, human nature, and things like this have happened in the past and will continue for ages to come. - ethanmeinster

Cuba is not the worst place to live, but is not a great place either. Let me explain, I was born here and sure, you can't compare the hell in Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, and Sierra Leone to Cuba. However, everybody has dreams, motivations, and wants to get out of the hole he's living in. Now, we do agree that the hole varies depending on your perspective on living standards. But there's a line. You need to have at least clothing, food, and a house or lodging, and a decent job that can pay for that. Not possible here, the only reason Cuba does not collapse is because of our culture: people living in parent's house with grandparents, and so forth which is normal and accepted. It is the family and what's left of it, what has sustained this; otherwise, we would have a much bigger crises than we have today, famines and much worse crime. The other part is freedom, there's none here; you cannot speak out your mind; you see something wrong, you better don't speak about it or denounce it. ...more

To live in Cuba is horrible. I'm so happy I left 15 years ago!
Cuba should be right at the top because of crime rate, corruption, violence, poverty, oppression and no civil rights or liberty.
The place is beautiful, a paradise if you go to visit, but hell for those who stay. Ask people who lived in Cuba and they will agree.

South Africa is a beautiful country to live in. Much freedom here. Black government is seriously corrupt. President support white genocide. More than 90 000 white people murdered from 1994 - 2014. More than 700 million rand embezzled/missing as per Auditor General report. President stole more than ZAR220million to upgrade his homestead, he also has more than 700 corruption charges against him. Seriously if we can get a leader who promotes no racism, and transparent governance this will be the best country in the world
Come on guys, they have the highest HIV/AIDS Rate in the WORLD 1/8 PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY DIE FROM IT EVERY DAY!
And then there's the government full of corruption. Sure, it's the richest country in Africa but this country sucks!
This country is a poverty capital, the police are corrupt and its too damn hot.

Everyone is so anti-intellectual in this country and most people only strive for mediocrity. The gap of rich and poor people is very wide because the constitution itself protects the wealthy few. Everything, even the utility is privatised so the government cannot control the sky-rocketing prices. The Catholic Church (and other religious groups) meddle too much in political matters and they advocate being poor so that they could rake in more desperate supporters. Quality education here is only available to those who can afford it and the education system itself rarely reflects the real working world. Most of the movies and T.V. shows made in this country nowadays makes the people dumb and the T.V. stations only strive to milk their audience without giving quality entertainment. No freedom to divorce an abusive marriage because there is no divorce law. There is no sex education too so yes, teens fall into stupidity.

As a Filipino (no joke)...
Are you kidding me?! Life here in Philippines is very simple and not too modern. As long as you have a happy life, it is okay. Beautiful sceneries, great location and etc.
You would not list it high on the list ONLY if you did not venture in Mindanao (ARMM). (this was posted just before I signed up; I posted this)
Everyone else loves this country. This country is great to live in; you have not visited there yet. Filipinos, like me, are very hospitable and hardworking. Try to imagine the rice your country imports. Chances that they can be Filipino-made. The cuisine here is just delicious, even foreigner kids love the Filipino foods and snacks too!
We, Filipinos, just are as great as all of you. The OFWs and the farmers here strive for their salary no matter how much. You should thank them. Note that the offensive comments you did were offending 1.4% of the world.
We love Philippines as much as if you were born here.

I am a Libyan citizen but quite frankly it's a very hostile environment for anyone who isn't Libyan and also some what hostile to their own kind. Ever since the beginning of the war things went south. Now there is occasional power outages, water outages and almost daily murders but the worst thing of it is their is no longer a proper police or military and the country is practically full of these Militia who have no experience with fire arms other than that they obtained from the rebellion. However despite all that Libya has potential and can be made a great place in some decades or so.
Country is full of Islamist - selfish, double faced inhuman ignorant, unprofessional, uneducated, immigrants with no sense of national duty superstitious uncommitted unhelpful thieves and exploiters.
NO NATIONAL DUTY, NO IDENTITY, NO SENSE OF RIGHT, AND FULL OF SHOW OFF HYPOCRITES.
This country needs to be dismantled, and all the immigrants since 1960 should be EXPELLED back to whatever poverty stricken hole they came from.
This is the only way to fix this country to what it used to be, or supposed to be.
Now its infested with degenerate criminals who kidnap and steal, who cut electricity, rapists, exploiters and destroyers of anything good.
Much better with Gaddafi in power=Free education and much more.

How is the UAE the 29th worst country in the world? The GDP per capita of 2015 is 67,000 one of the top ten national average wages in the world. I have never actually visited the country so I don't know what life inside is like but everyone who is writing comments seems biased to me.

Yes that is true, there in Italy, people are very racist.
It's so hard as a black or Arabic to find a good job, homes and it seems that because you are not Italian, you have to struggle for anything.
Italians don't hesitate to show their hates, specially when you are foreigner. I was tired of the racism in Italy.
I call all migrants to come here in Italy to make change things.
We will succeed, because there is a lot to do here anywhere Italians are so lazy and inefficient.

How to live in a Country where there is no women?
I think (but this is just my opinion) that Vatican is the worst country ever. For me, there's nothing to do in there, I'm an atheist. I don't have anything against Christians (or any other religions) but I think it's a very bad idea to have a country focused only on a religion. How is the economy going to be good, if there's only religion? And Vatican is so small, if you want to go out and have fun, you will have to go in another country, that must be a huge problem for the people that live there. And I personaly can't understand why would anyone want to live there. But, again, I don't have anything against religion or people living in Vatican, this is just my personal opinion.

South Sudan is the least developed country in the world. The government could care less about its citizens and the leader of the country got into some useless dispute with the deputy prime minister making the situation worse. If you go to this country you will literally see nothing destroyed from the war. Why? Because there was literally nothing to destroy. There is hardly any infrastructure. Crime rates are sky high and people are so desperately poor and hungry they will eat dirt. If you go out at night you can't see anything because there are no city lights for miles around. Even if there was lights you still couldn't see any people because the people there are so black that any African American would be jealous.
Do not give any money or reject providing assistance to either North or South Sudan. Both Countries are corrupt with too many needy people. They are rude, aggressive, liars, racists, uncivilized and barbaric. They export terror, violence, too many children (whom they neglect), and bring down the standard of living of any first world nation into a third world state.
The same applies to Congo, Nigeria, Somalia, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Kenya, and Uganda.
I've said it a few times, you're telling everyone that all of Sudan and South Sudan's people are awful. Wow. How stereotypical are you? That may be the 3 percent or something of the people committing genocide, but the other 97 percent are not awful people. Don't judge everyone in a country because it's got a few bad apples. All countries do. - Turkeyasylum

Sorry to say but before I travelled to Argentina I thought it was a really cool country but now that I've been here I've realized that they are the worlds most unfriendliest country. I grew up thinking Buenos Aires was an amazing place but the truth is... Don't be fooled by the sun.
I lived there for three years and I had lot of fun.. argentineans are outgoing and kind. I could travel to some provinces and I loved it, specially the waterfalls in the north east of the country.
If you're planning to visit the country, them it's one of the best. Specially the Patagonia, we have beautiful landscapes here.
However, if you are considering living here, it's not a bad idea, but there are better choices, everything is getting even more expensive (1 dollar is worth 18 pesos and they are considering raising it to 20), taxes are very high, you will need at least 20.000 pesos monthly to properly survive and you might be lucky if you can find a job where you earn more than that per month. Actually, argentinian companies tend to hire foreigners rather than locals because they are willing to work in order to make any money, even if theirs salary is lower than normal.
You are forced to vote here, and you have to choose the political party that "might screw you less than the others". Government here is very unreliable.
