It is a very beautiful song, but the music sounds so sad.
Beautiful, Carey shows her sadness
Sad but very beautiful lyrics and sound. One of the greatest songs ever..V 1 Comment
Through the whole 7 minutes, you hear in every part of the song, lots of sadness. Starting out with the guitar riff that forebodes a feeling of loneliness to it. Myles vocals kick in, and they are low (in terms of pitch) to complement the sadness. When it picks up at the chorus, its lyrics ask for the titular blackbird to fly away, biding farewell. The song's guitar solo creates a sad embrace as well. At the end, the same guitar riff as the beginning plays, closing the song just how it started. Very sad song indeed, and actually dedicated to a man named Mark Morse. - NuMetalManiak
It's about a kid who committed suicide. This is an extremely sad song.
My Aunty had leukemia and this was played at her funeral. I've never cried so hard, and every time I hear this it makes me ball.
I hate how great songs slip through the cracks on lists like this. This absolutely deserves more recognition.
Makes me cry every time I here it.V 3 Comments
It is the song of doing what you hate one last time before fnishing horror. - AnonymousChickV 2 Comments
The person that wrote before me is tone deaf I think this song is great
Honestly, this song is SO overplayed, and its annoying. Just saying.
This song starts out with some faint guitar sound, slowly crescendoing and then Maynard's vocals kick in. His lyrics are very meaningful in a way. The last part of the song where the guitar sound gets bigger is complemented by the "halo slippin down" lyrics, which convey a sad, deadly feeling. - NuMetalManiakV 1 Comment
This is one of my favorite songs of all time, I cannot believe it's not on the top 10!
I can't believe this isn't here, this song brought me to tears, because of its meaning and how I relate to it, it is about someone who is depressed, and just wants to go to sleep, to escape from all the harms that he faces everyday, and he doesn't wants to get up, he doesn't wants to face all those horrors once again, even though he knows he has to, this relates and make me think abaout suicide, (the same happened to myself) and the way he tells his loved ones that if he doesn't wakes up, if he dies, to don't feel bad for him "because in the deep of my hearth thast were I want to go"
Ps: I am not a die hard fan of the smiths, actually that's their only song I like
312... Okay, just listen to the lyrics and then tell me My Immortal is sadder.
Sadder than many of the songs on this list, I'll tell you. - LarkwingFlight
Sentimental duet by Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue about what seems to be a young couple in love having just found each other. Told from alternating points of view, it is revealed in the third verse the young man is a mentally disturbed man who eventually kills the woman he loves. What makes this so sad is that even at the end of the third verse, it is still a lovesong. The act of killing has something inevitable to it, as if the man had to do it despite truly loving the girl. Unkike much of the "Murder Ballads" album, it never gets violent either. The actual killing is more implied then explicitly described. In the end, the man even lays down a rose on her dead body. The beautiful emotional outfit adds much to the atmosphere. - Martin_Canine
