Top 10 Best Steven Universe Songs
I don't think I need to explain why it's my favorite, but I'll do it anyway.
First of all, it's sung by Pearl, AKA my favorite character in the whole cartoon, with beautiful animation, outfit, expressions, and dancing. What makes this song so amazing is the work of Deedee Magno Hall, who put so much emotion in her voice that they had to change the animation of the scene to match the voice. This song gives me chills every time. We don't talk about it enough, but the piano chords behind it are just incredible. The voice... I can't even say how much I love it.
In addition, this song greatly increased Pearl's popularity. People understood her better from this episode. Even though I already liked her from the beginning, I liked her even more after.
Some of the Crystal Gems' main songs are based on sad events. For example, It's Over, Isn't It? is about Pearl being sad and upset about Greg being with Rose, while she couldn't be with her. Tower of Mistakes features Amethyst singing about missing fusing with Garnet and feeling that Garnet thinks less of her than Pearl. Full Disclosure has Steven worried about Connie's safety because of his experiences with other Gems, leading him to want to stop hanging out with her, even though they are each other's only friends.
But Stronger Than You is different. Garnet is fused again and is faced with Jasper, but she has no doubts whatsoever about losing the battle. The love of Ruby and Sapphire gives her confidence. Her song is a battle song, a victory song, and a love song all in one. It's also very catchy, and I always find myself singing it for days.
I LOVE Connie's voice! She NEEDS more songs. Come on, people! Pearl (as usual) puts in a STUNNING performance! This song is just packed with emotion. It's truly one of the best songs in this show!
How is this not number 1? There's so much emotion in one song: confidence, pride, determination, and mystery. It's such an elegant song that really fits Pearl and Connie!
I love this song. It fit perfectly with the context (great episode too, by the way). It's just a catchy song that also relays some of Pearl's past experiences.
This song is great because of its strategic placement. It was put between the introduction of a new gem fusion and the dismay of the gem fusion. Also, this song is multi-purposed, due to Pearl's longing to be Steven's role model and Steven wanting to be strong. The up-tempo beat is the final element that drives this to be one of the best Steven Universe songs.
"I can show you how to be strong in the real way. I know that we can be strong in the real way. I want to inspire you. I want to be your rock. When I talk, it lights a fire in you..." This song is beautiful.
I absolutely love this song! Right next to "Let Me Drive My Van Into Your Heart," this song is my favorite song by Mr. Universe.
I love Greg's songs! I can see why Rose fell for Greg after this...
Heck, I fell for him after this.
Like a Comet is definitely my favorite song of the series. Stronger Than You is okay, but I really love this song. It's the only Steven Universe song I can hear on loop.
A lighthearted song, and it has a great extended version.
The extended version sounds amazing.
Which version? Season 1, 2, or extended theme? I like the extended theme.
Where do I even start with this lovely song? It expresses how to deal with stress and anxiety in a healthy and mindful way. It's calming and delightful to listen to, especially for someone who is dealing with anxiety. This song, and Mindful Education, sends a very insightful message about how to deal with bad thoughts and help those who are going through stressful times.
As in Stronger Than You, Garnet gives us an awesome performance while singing, but now she sings together with Stevonnie, giving us a much bigger perspective on how a fusion works, flexibility, love, and trust. When Garnet starts singing, you see how deep a fusion can go. When Stevonnie sings, you see someone trying to help his friend through a bad time.
After you hear this song, you will never stop listening to it.
This is one of my favorites because it just gets stuck in my head but in a good way. This song has a nice beat and good lyrics.
Definitely one of my favorites. So amazing.
One of the best. The only reason I voted for this is because it needs to be higher! Don't get me wrong, I love It's Over, Isn't It more than any of them.
What am I going to tell you? You're better off not knowing the trouble I'm in. This lyric is stuck in my head.
It's such a creative, beautiful, and emotion-packed song.
This was the first song that I learned on the ukulele, and it got me into Steven Universe. One song can do that.
This song is just amazing. Everything about it I love!
I'm so glad that this song made it into the top 10!
This is amazing! Why is it at no. 14 when it's in my top 3 SU songs? The original cheerful verse and the second darker verse give you an excellent insight into how Lapis feels about herself. Come on, people, we need to get this higher on the list!
I really love this song. It shows how Lapis felt on Earth and how she misses it but is afraid to go back. It is such a powerful song, and I think Lapis should get more songs.
YES! This song sounds like something from a Disney movie! Lapis' voice is so beautiful! Too bad this episode was overshadowed by the huge reveal in A Single Pale Rose.
It is heard during the ending credits of Jailbreak, sung by Rebecca Sugar herself.
It's beautiful when you hear the whole thing, and not just clips of it.
I think of Jasper having a redemption arc whenever I hear this.
Even though all the songs on this show are incredible, I can relate most to this song (also, Yellow Diamond is my wife #noshame). Yellow Diamond is trying to tell Blue Diamond through song that she should forget about Pink Diamond since it's been so long, as she says, "It's been thousands of years, Blue..."
However, at the end of this song, she has her own emotional breakdown. Unlike Blue Diamond, Yellow Diamond holds in her emotions and rarely shows how she feels. Therefore, we get a taste that the Diamonds do feel, and the death of Pink Diamond has made an impact on everybody.
Like a Comet and Both of You are my two favorites, but if I HAD to choose one, it's Both of You. Honestly, I didn't like Pearl not liking Greg, and this realization song was very well done. It's one of the few filler episodes I really liked.
Even though it was short, it was so beautiful to see Steven (and possibly Rose, if you listen closely) sing a song that eventually helps Pearl and Greg reconcile.
Pearl and Greg finally set aside their differences. So rewarding to see!
Amazing sing-along, catchy, and I love Steven's voice!
This is the first Steven Universe song that I heard, and I thought it was great.
It only came out 2 episodes ago, but I still love this one. This will probably be Peridot's equivalent to "On the Run" for Amethyst, "Strong in the Real Way" for Pearl, and "Stronger than You" for Garnet. It's catchy, it's an ironic fit for her character, and it just works well overall. Thumbs up, you little teched-out space leprechaun.
I laugh so hard when Peridot says, "I think all of you are insane!" The reaction was priceless.
Is there anything that's worth more than peace and love on the planet Earth?
My personal favorite song. It's a shame we don't get to see Amethyst sing very much.
It tells you a little bit about how Amethyst feels deep down. She REALLY just wanted to get away from the Gems, while Steven was just pretending.
This song is personally my absolute favorite!
This was one of the first SU songs I ever heard and was also the first I ever learned on the ukulele. It makes me so happy listening to the song. It's just a fun, upbeat song about one of my favorite fusions.
I love Giant Woman. Whenever I get home, I listen to it. I just love it for what it is.
This song is awesome, and I really don't know why.
This song is so fun! I love when the Steven Universe cast sang it at Comic-Con!
This song is so cool! Love it, my fave.
This song is so awesome I almost want to do it at my school's talent show!
I learned to stay true to myself by watching myself die...
If you liked the idea of this episode, you should search for the Steven Universe pilot.
This one was another favorite of mine. Just the way it went was amazing and left me with tears. It was the final song to close off the season and also about accepting yourself despite what others say. To this day, I still love it.
Love this song. It is simple but beautiful.
Best song in the movie and a contender for best of all time in my opinion. It's not as emotionally powerful on the surface as some other songs on the list, but it is still great. Spinel's character arc was also amazing. This and Drift Away are some of my favorites.
Great song, really captures how betrayed Spinel is feeling when she sings this.
The best song in the movie, especially the "Who am I?!" I can feel some betrayal in her voice.
This song came out in the most recent episode, The Answer. A lovely little duet between Ruby and Sapphire, both expressing their feelings about their first time fusing.
This song is so cute. I love Ruby and Sapphire. They are two of my favorite characters on the whole show!
"Now you're here forever!"
"What about you?"
"What about me?"
"Well, you're here too... we're here together."
