Top 10 Best Adventure Time Characters
Adventure Time is packed with unique and unforgettable characters. From heroes and villains to quirky sidekicks, the characters are what make the Land of Ooo such a fun and unpredictable place. Every fan has their favorites - whether it's the iconic duo of Finn and Jake, the mysterious and musically-gifted Marceline, or even some of the lesser-known but equally weird and wonderful inhabitants. This list is all about celebrating the best characters from the show, and now it's your turn to weigh in! Who stands out as the funniest, the bravest, or just the most fun to watch?
Marceline is my favorite character. The first episode I saw her in was "What Was Missing." When I saw her, I thought she was really pretty. Then I heard her singing and knew she was my favorite character. Plus, she's just like me. I sort of have issues with my dad and can sing really well. I feel like I have no friends (in the episode, she says, "let's talk about my feelings about my friends, oh wait I don't have friends") because they don't talk to me or invite me anywhere.
I have long hair, but it's dark brown, so when I get older, I'm going to dye it black. I don't want to dye it black now because people will think I'm turning emo or goth, you know? My favorite color is red. I love music so much that I have to listen to it every single day, or I go crazy. I'm going to try to learn how to play basketball (Yeah, I know. I'm stupid, okay?) and learn how to play the bass.
My cousin is sort of like her. She knows how to play the bass and basketball and loves the color red. I'm not sure if she can sing, though. I guess when she gets older, she'll be able to sing. Maybe that's why I don't have that many friends. Maybe it's because I can't play basketball. Well, I'm sort of like her anyway. No matter what, Marceline will still be my favorite character.
Also, I'm a big fan, even though she's a character. You say that you're the biggest fan, but guess who was the one who dressed up like her two times on Halloween (and I'm 13 already)? Please don't hate me for that. Team Marceline.
The second main character in the series, Jake the Dog, is the brother and adventure companion of Finn the Human. With his special ability to grow and stretch however he wants, Jake comes in handy many times throughout the series, even if he does get distracted easily. Even though he is technically older than Finn, at least in dog years, he can still be the more immature one of the two, often opting to eat a sandwich or sleep rather than do too much work. By the end of the series, however, Jake is happily married to Lady Rainicorn, along with having a few hybrid children.
He is a character who will slay any evil beast and protect anyone in trouble. He rages if anyone is beating up his friends (respect), and he may be one of the most righteous characters.
At first, Finn could sometimes be boring, but now Finn is not your average do-good person, no! Now he has a personality, knows about his family, and heck, he killed his sort-of-brother Fern. This show may be ending, but it had an amazing run.
Finn's awesome and heroic. He'll fight anything evil, and he's also very brave. The best memories of him are probably the first few seasons of Adventure Time, where he was a funny, adventurous hero who's also an innocent, sweet kid.
Simon has the saddest backstory, and I wish they would delve more into his story. He was driven insane by the crown, and he did not deserve this fate. In the No-Lich alternate reality, he sacrificed himself to save the world, which is totally selfless. But in the normal reality, his sacrifices for Marceline really show him to be a wonderful person and exceptional character after all.
Ice King himself, after becoming insane, is quite funny despite being completely the opposite of Simon in many ways, which is sad. But you gotta love his craziness, as it really adds humor to the show. "Gunter!" Haha.
How could BMO possibly be only 4? I love BMO. He's a skateboarding gaming system that tries to act human, and plus, he's hilarious.
"No, I do not play such games... with Jake!" "BMO chop! If this were a real attack... You'd be dead." "If anyone tries to hurt Finn, I will kill them." Enough said.
I have a BMO plush, and you all know very well why. He/She is by far the cutest thing in cartoons, and every time he/she speaks, I want to give him/her a hug. Which I do, with my BMO plush.
BMO is awesome! BMO's voice is awesome and brings a whole new element to Finn and Jake's adventures! BMO is also protective, and is just all-around awesome!
Ah... Bonnibel Bubblegum. Such an intriguing and complex character. She's one of the most morally gray leaders I've seen in animation, which makes her very human, in my eyes.
This girl has so much character that I could honestly write an essay about her. Despite all her flaws and mistakes, I will always love PB for how genuinely well-written she is.
Princess Bubblegum has been my favorite since the beginning. Although her latest appearances have gained her a lot of hate, they've actually made me like her more. The best thing about AT is the characters, and PB is one of the most interesting and developed characters on television.
The amazing thing about PB (and Ice King too) is the realistic balance of her personality. The ridiculous portrayal of good and evil in other shows has always bothered me, so it's great to have a character that actually has so much gray area. Is PB good? Is she evil? She's neither, but nobody is. PB is an example of how people actually work: she can be selfish, she can make mistakes, but she's human. Well, half-human. Nobody's perfect, and PB is the perfect example.
This is the kind of interesting character that shows today need more of! So PB gets all the hate just because she isn't as black and white as, say, Finn? Do you guys want to encourage the creation of boring characters? Give PB a little respect, because she's the most interesting character on the show.
I like how Finn and Flame Princess had a thing for each other in Season 4, Episode 1. When Finn starts to cry, a tear drips onto Flame Princess, and she yells in pain. She looks back just to see Finn crying. This catches her attention and also stops her rampage in the Goblin Kingdom. Right there, after touching his face filled with tears, she thinks he is a water elemental.
After that, Finn wakes up to see Flame Princess sitting next to him with big anime eyes. I could already tell she was falling in love, just like Finn was after she slapped him at the end of Season 4. Even though FP said if they like each other, they are going to hurt each other, Finn didn't care. He said he was willing to defy nature just to be with her.
Perhaps the funniest character in the history of television. Every appearance she makes is epic, but the highlight of her illustrious lumping career has to be the season three episode, "The Creeps."
If you haven't seen it, the premise is that Finn, Jake, Cinnamon Bun, BMO, Princess Bubblegum, and Lumpy Space Princess are invited to a masquerade birthday party by an unnamed host, and it turns into a murder mystery (think "Clue: The Movie"). All the characters are assigned aliases, and from the moment that LSP announces hers as, "My name is... Duchess... Gummybuns," it is just one non-stop LSP roller-coaster ride of hilarity. Everything that comes out of her mouth is hilarious in that episode.
Even though he is really funny, I mainly feel bad for him because of how he was made. He seems delusional and crazy, but it's not his fault. Princess Bubblegum made him like that by accident. He was a failed experiment.
I also get scared of him because he's one of the most unpredictable characters.
He is a psychopathic lemon bent on power, and it was nice to see him grow as a ruler in the series until he had a respectable kingdom. Some might say Lemongrab has no personal problems, making his character boring.
Well, he does (such as being messed up during his creation). He just decides to ignore them and be himself no matter how insane his real self is.
Ok, so, spoiler alert: Gunter is a huge evil demon that was turned into a penguin and has been on Earth for thousands of years. When Ice King took him to the hospital, the doctor said that she was pregnant (if she is a she, I don't know if Gunter has a gender).
But out of the egg comes a kitten goddess. So that's when I became suspicious. Quack!
Gunter looks so cute, and the noises he makes are adorable, but he's pure evil inside, which I think represents the true characteristics of mankind.
Gunter is super cool, super evil, and super cute! I love the episode where Hunson Abadeer called him the most evil being known, which he is! Apparently, he is an evil space alien called Orgalorg who has destroyed countless planets.
Behind his backstory, he is actually a very incredible character. He used to be friends with Death, he is a vampire addict, and he knows how to summon rituals.
I like him a lot because he's very relatable. Hey, I love creepypastas, just like how he loves dark stuff! There's something more to his character than just being a candy butler for Princess Bubblegum!
I think the friendship between Peppermint Butler and Death is the most interesting on the show, after Finn and Jake's. I hope the show eventually gives us background on how that relationship came to be!
His narration at the end of the Christmas episode is one of my absolute favorite scenes! His voice is so cool, up there with Christopher Lee and James Earl Jones.
He is one of the most perceptive characters in the whole program. His one-liners are the best!
One of my favorite characters.
"You are alone, child. There is only darkness for you, and only death for your people. These ancients are only the beginning. I will command a great and terrible army. We will sail to a billion worlds. We will sail until every light has been extinguished. You are strong, child. But I am beyond strength. I am the end. AND I HAVE COME FOR YOU, FINN."
Just, wow. All those words he said in "Wake Up/Escape From The Citadel" were enough to give people chills. As the series went on, The Lich just became stronger until GOLB surpassed him. In this instance, he casts off his own skin to reveal just a skeleton. The Lich is pretty much one of the greatest villains in a modern animated series, period.
Lady Rainicorn is adorable! She has a very pretty rainbow theme all over her, and she is always very happy and sweet to others! It breaks your heart when she cries because she's always around, smiling!
Even though most of us can't understand her, she is still very interesting to listen to!
I just love the fact that she's also a violist. It makes her and Jake such an adorable couple!
Do you know what language Lady Rainicorn speaks? She actually speaks Korean.
Whoa! How is Fionna at 15? She's in my top 5! She's basically a girl version of Finn, and Finn's at 3, so... People! Way to be a buzzkill for girls!
Fionna, like Finn, rules. Thank you, Ice King, for creating her. I want her to meet Finn and get married!
Fionna is awesome, and she is just like me! She and Cake rule the show!
The best cat. I really wish she was my best friend.
I find Cake to be totally similar to me.
Good girl. Have some spaghetti.
Marshall rocks! He and Marceline are the coolest characters that ever existed in the history of cartoon characters. He is so damn awesome. He is like the cartoon version of Justin Bieber (I am just talking about the popularity and his ability to sing and play his bass like a boss). I mean, he only shows up in a few episodes, but he already has more fans than PG. So, yeah, I am with him on this one.
I love Marshall Lee. Like Marceline, he is my favorite character, but I like him. I wish he was real, though, because he is so hot. I wish he was my boyfriend. I mean, who doesn't want a boyfriend who's hot, badass, and who sings and raps? You'd be crazy.
Why is he so low on the list? He is a great guy. He took care of a child who is not his while being in an apocalypse and nearing insanity. He really deserves more.
Why is the insane version of Simon above Simon? It does not make sense!
He has one of the most tragic stories of all cartoons. Need I say more?
Really underrated character, it seems. She was one of my favorite female characters in the show!
For some reason, I love him for being annoying. Plus, I like him and Flame Princess together, since he's the only guy calm and nonchalant enough to be with her.
He's silly sometimes, but he's not actually a complete screw-up like most people think. Who delivered the tarts safely for everyone to eat, especially when the Princess was at risk of being paralyzed after Finn and Jake poisoned the food?
I think CB is underrated. In the first episode, he does a backflip and falls, hitting his head. Then he acts all weird and stuff. Fun fact: It's confirmed that he got brain damage from that fall.
You laughed when you saw him fall. You laughed at someone getting brain damage in his debut. Think about that!
He has some of the best one-liners in the series, at least in the three episodes he speaks, mostly in Joshua and Margaret. Still love him.
Jake Jr. is so adorable and powerful. Even if she misbehaves sometimes, I still love her.
"And this little lady is Jake Jr." She's a girl, duh!
Tree Trunks is one of the best characters on Adventure Time. She is one of the only motherly figures on the show!
She is so cute! I love her so much!
She is a cute and funny elephant.
He's creepy but kind of cool. I mean, since we like Marceline, why don't we like her dad? He has feelings too!
If you read the Adventure Time Encyclopedia, you'll see he actually has a sense of humor.
Whoa, is this the family axe? Did you turn it into some kind of lute?!
She is a lady who would do anything to save her fiancé. Also, she is part of the cutest nerd couple in history.
