South Park
South Park is an American adult animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone for the Comedy Central television network. The show centers on four boys: Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick, and their adventures in the fictional town of South Park, Colorado. It's known... read more
I'm glad that this show is number one. It makes me laugh all the time and, unlike The Simpsons or Family Guy, it has been consistently funny over the past 20 years. Everyone knows that those two shows have pretty much lost their spark, but meanwhile, South Park is still fantastic and creative.
I mean, heck, it only takes the creators six days to make an entire episode that manages to be hilarious and clever. Yet it takes other show creators a year to make an episode that usually doesn't match up with South Park's quality and humor.
I like the first top 3, but I have to say the most hilarious of them is South Park. Of course, The Simpsons and Family Guy have limitations because they go on national broadcast, and South Park has almost no limits. But to me, head to head, comparing all characters and the issues touched, South Park wins by far.
South Park has a wider list of funny characters than The Simpsons and Family Guy.

The Simpsons
The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening. It originally aired as shorts on The Tracey Ullman Show starting April 19, 1987, and debuted as a standalone series on December 17, 1989.
As of 2026, it remains the longest-running animated sitcom. The show follows Homer Simpson... read more
The Simpsons is one of the greatest shows of all time. It has a memorable cast, even though it boasts about ten times more characters than most other sitcoms. It can address societal topics without being preachy. In its prime, the show was the funniest, or at least one of the funniest shows in history.
Though The Simpsons may not be as humorous as it used to be, there are far less funny and less imaginative shows on TV. It can still deliver a good joke a few times in an episode without resorting to cutaway gags and other jokes that have no relevance to the plot or anything going on. A show that often resorts to this is Family Guy.
Even now, The Simpsons still has better writing than Family Guy, primarily because Family Guy has always had very undeveloped characters and subpar writing. I will admit that Family Guy is funny, but it's not a clever kind of funny. The Simpsons remains one of the best sitcoms and TV shows of all time.

Futurama
Futurama is an American animated science fiction sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The show follows Philip J. Fry, a pizza delivery boy who's cryogenically frozen and wakes up 1,000 years in the future. It blends satire, science fiction, and social commentary.
Do you know that feeling where you feel like you've found something that gives you all the joy you've ever wanted? Well then, welcome to Futurama. This show had everything that a good show needed, from legendary characters to creative plots. Not only that, but it provided the audience with practically everything it wanted, from a ship that became canon (Fry and Leela for the two who don't know) to the possibility of it coming back.
While a few people here and there think it started going downhill as time went on, I think all ten seasons were equally phenomenal. Unfortunately, Netflix recently removed the first six seasons. But going back to what I said before, all ten were amazing.
So please, just please, please, PLEASE check out Futurama. You will LOVE IT. And if you don't, then you probably don't have a soul.
-
Family Guy
Family Guy is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series centers on the Griffins, a family consisting of Peter, Lois, their children Meg, Chris, and Stewie, and their anthropomorphic dog, Brian. The show is set in the fictional city of Quahog... read more
I have a lot of respect for this show. The early seasons were its finest. The early seasons redefined adult cartoons. But sadly, now it is a spite-filled, hateful shell of its amazing old self. Some late-season episodes are good, but the new ones are offensive and mean-spirited. I recommend the early seasons, as the early seasons of Family Guy deserve to be on this list.
I can understand the top two, but why is Rick and Morty above this? Family Guy is a pop culture phenomenon and is way better than Rick and Morty. It is hilarious and has tons of great jokes. It and South Park are the best adult cartoons.
-
Rick & Morty
Rick and Morty is an American adult animated science fiction sitcom created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon for Adult Swim. The series premiered in 2013 and follows the misadventures of an eccentric scientist, Rick Sanchez, and his good-hearted but easily influenced grandson Morty. The show is known... read more
If I made a top 10 list of my favorite shows, this would be in the top 5! This is my absolute favorite cartoon and one of my favorite shows! It's hilarious, the animation is awesome, the voices are good, and there isn't a single episode I hate.
The only problems I have are that there isn't enough Rick and Morty, and the ending of the last episode of season 3 had me angry yet really upset. Overall, though, it is a must-see!
This show is ridiculously funny! It is the best adult cartoon I have seen so far, and it even managed to make its way to my top three favorite cartoons.
-
American Dad!
American Dad! is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker, and Matt Weitzman for the Fox Broadcasting Company and currently airs on TBS. It was the first television series to premiere on the network's Animation Domination block. The series premiered on February 6, 2005... read more
A lot better and more tolerable than Family Guy. There are no annoying cutaway gag jokes, and the jokes are actually funny despite the political overtones some episodes have.
It is fun, fun, fun. And not in a Rebecca Black sense. Really, a great TV show. It is made by the creators of Family Guy and The Cleveland Show, but the humor and plot are way better done than those.
What I like about this show is that it's not all about the humor like Family Guy.
-
Beavis and Butt-Head
Beavis and Butt-Head is an American animated sitcom created and designed by Mike Judge. The series originated from Frog Baseball, a 1992 short film by Judge that originally aired on Liquid Television. The show became a cultural phenomenon in the 1990s and was revived for new seasons in the 2010s and... read more
I would not have expected a show about two underachieving high school students doing stupid things to work so well, but it does. Mike Judge is a genius, and Beavis and Butt-Head is, in my opinion, the first show since Tom and Jerry to execute a simple plot so well.
Many times, their mischievous acts cause a complex series of events that they don't even notice taking place. Best of all, what could be better than hearing their commentary about all those music videos?
The show makes me sleepy just because they are just reacting to music videos, but the plot made me laugh.
-
King of the Hill
King of the Hill is an American animated sitcom created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels that ran from January 12, 1997, to May 6, 2010, on Fox. Great show because it's different from other adult cartoons. It focuses more on drama rather than just comedy.
The best, so many great episodes. Never gets old.
KOTH and Beavis and Butt-Head are two of my favorite shows ever!

Come on, King of the Hill above this? Once I watched this show and laughed so hard my mom asked if I needed to go to the doctor.
This show is hilarious! The best parts of it are its amazing characters and phenomenal jokes.
Bob's Burgers is a hell of a lot better TV show than anything Seth MacFarlane has or will ever make. It's just common sense.
-

One of the best shows in existence! It manages to combine surreal, sardonic, and satirical humor bursting at the seams with pop-culture references while also maintaining a deep, dark, and realistic feel. Many people here are saying that it isn't as funny. The humor is different and more refined. You'll know what I mean if you've seen the show. No gross-out humor, no toilet gags, real comedy.
This show is really underrated. Though it might not be the funniest one, it's still the most relatable. The first season wasn't really good, but it got better and better. Season 4 was incredibly deep, emotional, and dark.
The characters are incredibly complex and realistic, and it's a shame that it's so low on this list.

Should be at least number three behind South Park and The Simpsons. No offense, but I hate Family Guy and American Dad. I am so sad this is the last season.
Do you remember Wiggle Jiggle?
This is very underrated with all the meatballs and the sodas walking down the street like gangsters.
-
The Cleveland Show
The Cleveland Show is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane, Richard Appel, and Mike Henry for the Fox Broadcasting Company. It's a spin-off of Family Guy and centers on Cleveland Brown, one of the characters from the original series. The show aired from 2009 to 2013.
Come on, tenth? This is much better than King of the Hill or Beavis and Butt-Head.
This show is so overlooked. I don't get why people hate it so much.
This show made Family Guy a good show.

The Ren & Stimpy Show
The Ren & Stimpy Show, often referred to simply as Ren & Stimpy, is an American animated television series created by John Kricfalusi for Nickelodeon. It originally aired from 1991 to 1995 and is known for its surreal humor and controversial content. The series centers on Ren, an emotionally unstable... read more
Even though it aired on Nickelodeon, I sometimes find it hard to believe that this show was meant for kids. Despite that, however, I enjoy Ren and Stimpy for all the hilarious lines, insane animation, and clever writing.
In closing, if you didn't like this show... then you're an EEDIOT! (No offense to the people who take it seriously. I was just trying to quote Ren's catchphrase.)
Yes, kids, this is an adult cartoon. There's a reason it aired on SNICK more often than regular Nick and often aired on Nick back in the day during school and church hours. Quite gross on look back.
-
The Boondocks
The Boondocks is an American animated sitcom created by Aaron McGruder for Cartoon Network's late-night programming block, Adult Swim. It is based on his comic strip of the same name. The series premiered on November 6, 2005, and is known for its sharp political and social commentary.
I just watched the first episode, and I loved it. I don't know if I will continue the series like I did with PPG and Death Note, but it's a good show. It has a good blend of comedy and speaks up about real issues like racism and government corruption. The art is nice too. The characters are interesting. It's way better than Family Guy (I saw an episode of that, and it's not that funny, just stupid). I have a friend who loves this show and introduced me to it.
The Boondocks was a great show. I loved how they mocked racial stereotyping.
-
Archer
Archer is an American adult animated spy sitcom created by Adam Reed. The series premiered in 2009 on FX and later moved to FXX. It follows the misadventures of Sterling Archer and his dysfunctional coworkers at a fictional intelligence agency.
How could Sterling Mallory Archer be overlooked? Racism, gay, alcoholism, sexist, sexual, drugs, and sodomy jokes galore. Great voice acting and characters. Archer should be top ten.
Finally, a list that Archer's on. This is hilarious. How the hell is Robot Chicken higher than this? RC is TERRIBLE.
This show is perfect and should at least be in the top five! So funny and awesome characters!

Regular Show
Regular Show is an American animated television series created by J. G. Quintel for Cartoon Network that premiered on September 6, 2010. The series follows the lives of two friends, Mordecai, a blue jay, and Rigby, a raccoon. They work as groundskeepers at a local park and often find themselves in surreal... read more
Okay, how do I explain this:
Regular Show is the best cartoon I have ever watched in the history of cartoons, right next to Rick and Morty. It's all about two guys, a blue jay named Mordecai and a raccoon named Rigby, who work at a park and inadvertently cause chaos.
For example, there's an episode where a warlock with a fanny pack tries to suck the whole park in (Season 3, Episode 13: Fortune Cookie). Another episode revolves around Mordecai's struggle to delete his profile on a dating website called Couple Corral, leading to a situation where a guy wants to kill his girlfriend CJ so he can be single and receive more hits (Season 5, Episode 40: Real Date).
I find it more suitable for teens than kids because some episodes may not make sense to younger audiences, like Cruisin' or Caffeinated Concert Tickets, among others. So, Regular Show is currently my favorite show. It's way better than that dumb Adventure Time show.
-
Happy Tree Friends

It may be for kids, but as an adult, I don't see why we can't enjoy it as well. It's got good jokes, great writing, clever setups, likable (and hilarious) characters, spot-on voice acting, creative designs, and an amazing amount of innuendos.
In other words, this show is awesome!
This show is awesome! But I don't like sleeping in front of the TV when it comes on late at night.
Fun fact: The Chokey Chicken was changed to the Chewy Chicken because the name was very inappropriate.
