Best Debut Albums From Heavy Metal Bands

The Top Ten
1 Kill Em All - Metallica

Just the best debut album ever! Even better than Appetite for Destruction

No compiteter can't even stand against this album.. They just kill em all man...

Metallica did a great on job on this one. For a debut album.

Anesthesia(pulling teeth), Cliff Burton... enough said

2 Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath

It's not a metal album, only metal song on the album is the self-titled song.

Deserves to be no. 1 because this album has started heavy Metal journey

As awesome as kill em all is this should still be number one

The first metal album and the best metal debut

3 Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden

C'mom! This album sounds fresh and it is very eclectic! Phantom of the opera looks like a Queen song, Prowler has (to my ears) A. Very punkish riff, Runnin' Free is Hard Rock, Remember Tomorrow is a ballad... And I could go on...

Not to tall the songs are great. ¿Who can resist Prowler or Phantom of the Opera?
And I think it's different to everything Iron Maiden was going to do. With Dickinson, the band was epic and with lots of progressive influences. But here, even when they still got prog influences here and there, the songs are very raw. That should make it a gem on its own!

Well, I think it's enough. Listen to this album today. You won't be disappointed.

While it's not as popular as their later album, it still rocks.

The most important NWOBHM album. Deserve to be higher than Kill 'Em All

4 Holy Diver - Dio

Okay first the sickness is defiantly number one why it's not I don't know. Kill em all isn't even that great, just because it's Metallica doesn't mean it needs to be number one people.

The first Metallica album isn't even that great, yet this album had me addicted to Dio and I now love the whole band

My first heavy metal album... DIO NEEDS TO BE NUMBER 1!

5 Blizzard of Ozz - Ozzy Osbourne

Awesome album has 2 songs that are treated as some of the greatest metal songs ever and the solos are played by the god Randy Rhoads R.I.P Randy Rhoads

Metallica is so overrated. Obvious Ozzy should win this battle, we're talking about classic-ass metal here!

First Heavy Metal album that started by solo artist (Ozzy Osbourne). It's should be deserve more higher

Randy Rhoads played on this Album! End of Story...

6 Bonded by Blood - Exodus

This debut absolutely slaughters every other thrash metal debut out there. Tight riffing, fast solos, and chaotic vocals. This album is a classic. It's a shame the band never matched this album in quality.

Definitely the best debut album, came at a time (1985) when the "Big 4" were all making their mark with their debuts (1983-1985), and while the Big 4 have carved out more deserving careers, this kicks all of their asses!

Kill em all is not a touch on this album. Overall I like Metallica better but this debut is miles better. Metallica fans I challenge you to listen to Exodus

Deserve to be higher than Kill 'Em All because this album has more technical and chaotic music also the band was the first thrash metal band

7 Slipknot

They changed the whole metal scene back to a more metal based sound at a time when metal was being represented by bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit which are more rap then metal. They opened the door for almost every band since '99

Listen to it come back vote for slipknot

HELL YEAH!

Actually, Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat and Crows are both just demos, and the former was recorded without corey.

8 Scream Bloody Gore - Death

This record it's amazing, yes it's 87 but this record define the death metal, not as ghastly as 7 Churches of Possessed in the 85, not as brutal as Torment in fire of Sacrifice in 85 or the raw of Hellhammer in eraly 80's but the sound and the quality of the songs it's for to be in the first place!

And thus Death Metal became official. Built on the harsh thrashing of Possessed's debut Seven Churches.

9 Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good - Megadeth

Why is it that linkin park is higher than this. I like linkin park but they are not even heavy metal

The heavier more technical Metallica, without sellouts, with Dave on the guitar and vocals nothing can go wrong with this album, thrash at its finest

Killing is my business is thrash at its finest

Mechanix, first thrash metal song ever created.

10 Alice In Hell - Annihilator

Brilliant start to finish. A surprisingly mature album from young thrashers. It's heavy and intelligent at the same time - technical thrash at its best. Extremely fast technical riffs and solos, remarkable bass lines, meaningful lyrics. A true metal masterpiece.
'Alison Hell' is the most popular song from this album but 'Human Insecticide' and 'Schizos Are Never Alone' (both parts) are masterpieces, too. Do yourself a favor and check out at least those 3 songs.

Canadian thrashers Annihilator debut with a fantastic late-game thrash metal album. Honestly contains some of the best guitar work in all of music. The riffs and solos are mind-blowing. Check out Ligeia, Human Insecticide, and Schizos for some examples of thrash metal mastery.

First alice is wonderland, then she's in chains, now she's in hell? Where's Alice! Make up your mind!

The Contenders
11 The Legacy - Testament

Their best album. One of the best of all thrash.

12 Korn - Korn

Brilliant album a real pioneer of the nu-metal genre

The first nu metal album.

Scary but so cool also

13 Altars of Madness - Morbid Angel
14 Hybrid Theory - Linkin Park

Was good tell they gave Chester more singing parts... Really do not like his voice but really like mike :3

They are not heavy metal the are nu-metal and they are amazing

This should be more higher, Linkin Park 4 Life!

It's not heavy metal, it's alt/nu metal

15 Remission - Mastodon

This album should be at least in the top 10, the first time I heard it I wasn't expecting a masterpiece, but it really blew me away, it is a masterpiece. Amazing debut.

16 Show No Mercy - Slayer

Seriously. Disturbed is above slayer. Get your facts straight, people.

Better than Kill 'Em All...

17 Orchid - Opeth
18 Kiss - Kiss
19 Morbid Tales - Celtic Frost
20 Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow - Rainbow
21 Appetite for Destruction - Guns N' Roses

Not only one of the best debut albums, but one of the best albums altogether. Kill Em' All, Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good, and Iron Maiden are great albums, but certainly not the best albums by those bands and not classics like Appetite for Destruction.

Definitely #1. Best selling debut album of all time and has many classic Guns N' Roses songs like sweet child o mine welcome to the jungle and paradise city. Not to mention underrated songs like my Michelle think about you and rocket queen

One of the best debut albums for any genre of music

One of the best hard rock albums of all time!

22 The Sickness - Disturbed

Down with the Sickness, Stupify, The Game, Voices, Fear... This entire album brought an impactful arsenal of songs. They were distinctively their own sound at the time and it was huge!

23 Facelift - Alice In Chains
24 Slowly We Rot - Obituary
25 Melissa - Mercyful Fate

This is best metal album category material.

Best metal album of all time.
