The first heavy metal album.
... And so heavy metal was born
The one who started it all
Deserves to be no. 1 because this album has started heavy Metal journey - AlcortV 5 Comments
Okay first the sickness is defiantly number one why it's not I don't know. Kill em all isn't even that great, just because it's Metallica doesn't mean it needs to be number one people.
My first heavy metal album... DIO NEEDS TO BE NUMBER 1! - LadyBanshee
The first Metallica album isn't even that great, yet this album had me addicted to Dio and I now love the whole band - metalwillneverdie
You've been down too long in the midnight sea
Oh what's becoming of me?
Ride the tiger
You can see his stripes but you know he's clean
Oh don't you see what I mean?
Definitely the best debut album, came at a time (1985) when the "Big 4" were all making their mark with their debuts (1983-1985), and while the Big 4 have carved out more deserving careers, this kicks all of their asses!
Kill em all is not a touch on this album. Overall I like Metallica better but this debut is miles better. Metallica fans I challenge you to listen to Exodus
This debut absolutely slaughters every other thrash metal debut out there. Tight riffing, fast solos, and chaotic vocals. This album is a classic. It's a shame the band never matched this album in quality.
Deserve to be higher than Kill 'Em All because this album has more technical and chaotic music also the band was the first thrash metal band - AlcortV 3 Comments
C'mom! This album sounds fresh and it is very eclectic! Phantom of the opera looks like a Queen song, Prowler has (to my ears) A. Very punkish riff, Runnin' Free is Hard Rock, Remember Tomorrow is a ballad... And I could go on...
Not to tall the songs are great. ¿Who can resist Prowler or Phantom of the Opera?
And I think it's different to everything Iron Maiden was going to do. With Dickinson, the band was epic and with lots of progressive influences. But here, even when they still got prog influences here and there, the songs are very raw. That should make it a gem on its own!
Well, I think it's enough. Listen to this album today. You won't be disappointed.
While it's not as popular as their later album, it still rocks.
Gotta love Phantom of the Opera.
That solo... M/
The most important NWOBHM album. Deserve to be higher than Kill 'Em All - AlcortV 1 Comment
Randy Rhoads played on this Album! End of Story... - Nirmal1991USA
Metallica is so overrated. Obvious Ozzy should win this battle, we're talking about classic-ass metal here!
First Heavy Metal album that started by solo artist (Ozzy Osbourne). It's should be deserve more higher - Alcort
Awesome album has 2 songs that are treated as some of the greatest metal songs ever and the solos are played by the god Randy Rhoads R.I.P Randy Rhoads
Brilliant start to finish. A surprisingly mature album from young thrashers. It's heavy and intelligent at the same time - technical thrash at its best. Extremely fast technical riffs and solos, remarkable bass lines, meaningful lyrics. A true metal masterpiece.
'Alison Hell' is the most popular song from this album but 'Human Insecticide' and 'Schizos Are Never Alone' (both parts) are masterpieces, too. Do yourself a favor and check out at least those 3 songs. - Metal_Treasure
Canadian thrashers Annihilator debut with a fantastic late-game thrash metal album. Honestly contains some of the best guitar work in all of music. The riffs and solos are mind-blowing. Check out Ligeia, Human Insecticide, and Schizos for some examples of thrash metal mastery.
First alice is wonderland, then she's in chains, now she's in hell? Where's Alice! Make up your mind!
1. Blizzard of Ozz - Ozzy Osbourne
2. Kill 'em All - Metallica
3. Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
4. Alice In Hell - Annihilator
5. Holy Diver - Dio
6. Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good - Megadeth
7. Fallen - Evanescence
8. Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine
9. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
10. Show No Mercy - Slayer
Their best album. One of the best of all thrash.
They changed the whole metal scene back to a more metal based sound at a time when metal was being represented by bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit which are more rap then metal. They opened the door for almost every band since '99
Listen to it come back vote for slipknot
Actually, Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat and Crows are both just demos, and the former was recorded without corey.V 1 Comment
Why is it that linkin park is higher than this. I like linkin park but they are not even heavy metal
The heavier more technical Metallica, without sellouts, with Dave on the guitar and vocals nothing can go wrong with this album, thrash at its finest
Killing is my business is thrash at its finest
The Real Top 5
5 Sounding The Seventh Trumpet :Avenged Sevenfold
4 Show No Mercy :Slayer
3 Kill Em All :Metallica
2 Bonded by Blood :Exodus
1 KILLING IS MY BUSINESS... AND BUSINESS IS GOD! MEGADETH! MEGADETH! MEGADETH!
ROCK ON DAVE!
This is best metal album category material.
Best metal album of all time.
Seriously. Disturbed is above slayer. Get your facts straight, people.
Better than Kill 'Em All...
That's right, even the sound quality doesn't better as Kill 'Em All, but the lyrics and the music are incredibly awesome than Kill 'Em All - Alcort
Slayer is silly for silly gooses
raining blood is ok - Metalfan2112
This record it's amazing, yes it's 87 but this record define the death metal, not as ghastly as 7 Churches of Possessed in the 85, not as brutal as Torment in fire of Sacrifice in 85 or the raw of Hellhammer in eraly 80's but the sound and the quality of the songs it's for to be in the first place!
And thus Death Metal became official. Built on the harsh thrashing of Possessed's debut Seven Churches.
To whose wrote the first thing atop the commentary:
Sacrifice is thrash metal"NOT death metal
INTO CRYPTS OF RAYS
This album or any other by Linkin was NOT HEAVY METAL. Drill that into your heads!
Was good tell they gave Chester more singing parts... Really do not like his voice but really like mike :3
It's not heavy metal, it's alt/nu metal - CabadePartyhunter
Not metal but a beast albumV 3 Comments
Down with the Sickness, Stupify, The Game, Voices, Fear... This entire album brought an impactful arsenal of songs. They were distinctively their own sound at the time and it was huge!
This album should be at least in the top 10, the first time I heard it I wasn't expecting a masterpiece, but it really blew me away, it is a masterpiece. Amazing debut.
Are you people serious half the Albums on this list isn't even metal. I'm going with Metal Church if you haven't herd the first album then stop reading. From beyond the black To battalions this album kicks ass.
Too fast for love has a great punk type of feel to it, it's so great
It was one of the best albums of 2013. These guys were teens in 2013, aged 17-19 but blew everybody's mind.
Kill (Those Who Oppose Me) is a crazy fast thrash song, one of the fastest ever. The video to this track is one of the coolest I've ever seen. - Metal_Treasure
Other songs: Thrash all over you, Braindead metalhead. - Metal_Treasure
Not only one of the best debut albums, but one of the best albums altogether. Kill Em' All, Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good, and Iron Maiden are great albums, but certainly not the best albums by those bands and not classics like Appetite for Destruction.
One of the best debut albums for any genre of music
One of the best hard rock albums of all time!
Definitely #1. Best selling debut album of all time and has many classic Guns N' Roses songs like sweet child o mine welcome to the jungle and paradise city. Not to mention underrated songs like my Michelle think about you and rocket queen
The first nu metal album.
Brilliant album a real pioneer of the nu-metal genre
Scary but so cool also
Why is this 15
Perfect the guitars had no solos and still managed to be insanely awesome what more could you want? The drums are just crazy and Matt's screams are among his best
Very underrated album and Linkin Park is not heavy metal
Most people voting for this album have probably never even listened to it. They're just voting cause its Avenged Sevenfold.
This is metalcore you posersV 2 Comments
Come on...it changed the whole dynamics of metal in the early 90s. this album should be higher
Majesty is one of the best and most epic speed metal songs in the business. Guardian Of The Blind is one of the fastest songs, too.
This BEHEMOTH being the 1st release of a band is something beyond belief... Masterpiece.
It has some good hard rock and some sweet metal playing. It has some good guitar and real metal and hard rock.
If Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath made a album together, this would be it.
Pretty surprised to see this on here, and really this is more thrash metal not heavy metal, I think it's deserving of a higher place. Really underrated. This is a fantastic album. My personal favourite on this list is 'Black Sabbath' though.
... why so low - Disasterpiece
This wasn't a metal album actually. - Sabbath
