Best Suzanne Vega Songs
American songwriter and singer known for her eclectic folk-inspired music. The song is written as a simple first person vignette of someone stopping at a diner for a cup of coffee, it appeared as the first track of her Solitude Standing album in 1987
Love both the original and the DNA mix. There's also Tom's album which has many variation by others.
This song is SO SAD! I cannot listen to it without crying. I was abused as a child, this is a terrible thing that should never happen to anyone! It makes me cry every time I hear it. But it is also one of the most courageous things I have ever heard! This song is absolutely one of the most important songs ever written. It is a true testament to the abused children of this world.
Great song, brings me back to all the indie artists I was into in college.
The pace of this song is just mesmerizing.
Loved the entire first album and this creates a great imagery.
Joe Jackson on piano, such introspective I don't fit in teen type of song. She also sings on In A Lonely Place by the Smithereens - I like the songs back to back.
Wonderful title track right in there with Solitude Standing title track.
So harsh, yet sweet when Suzanne sings..."I would leave only bones and teeth, we could see what was underneath"
So catchy for such a subject. I think some thinks might go to Mitchell Froom for that.
I heard this song once, six years ago and it's been stuck in my head ever since
Love the story, it's like a Shakespeare tragedy in 5 minutes.
