Top Ten Bravest Characters in Movies and TV Series

Brave characters can carry a film to greatness, and inspire us. Here are some of my favorites. Please add any you feel merit inclusion.
The Top Ten
1 Mulan (Mulan) Fa Mulan, a character inspired by an actual historic figure is a character who appears in Walt Disney Pictures' 36th animated feature film Mulan, as well as its sequel Mulan II.

She is one of the bravest character I know, she was brave enough to disguise as a boy and join the war or army thing.

She fought against huge odds for the honor of her family.

2 Katsumoto (The Last Samurai)

On 2nd thought, I'd place him above Nathan Algren. I think maybe Tom Cruise would place him above Nathan Algren... No fear

3 Sam (The Lord of the Rings) Samwise Gamgee, known as Sam, was a Hobbit of the Shire. He was Frodo Baggins' gardener and best friend. Sam proved himself to be Frodo's closest and most dependable companion, the most loyal of the Fellowship of the Ring, and also played a necessary role in protecting Frodo and destroying the One Ring... read more

In my opinion Sam is braver than Frodo. Sam was by Frodo's side the whole way even when Frodo wasn't by his.

Simply ridiculously brave. He continued to follow Frodo even though he had the choice not to.

4 Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars) Obi-Wan Kenobi is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe, played by Sir Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor.

Kill an unbeatable foe who has just killed your master? Check... Take on Grievious and his minions singlehandedly? Childsplay... Cripple and seemingly destroy his beloved apprentice? Heartbreaking, but done... Later, die at the hands of Darth Vader so that others might escape? Easy peasy... Bravery was never an issue with ole' Ben.

It's over Anakin. I have the high ground

He fought general grevious and killed him with no fear whatsoever, and he fought anakin and beat him even though he knew anakin was stronger than him

5 William Wallace (Braveheart)

Although this film has quite a few historical inaccuracies, there can be no doubt that the real William Wallace and the character in this film were both exceedingly brave.

Shouldn't be here at all. It's not like he's actually BRAVE, or, or has a HEART or anything. Come on people, get real!

Kinda why the movie is called Braveheart.

6 Harry Potter (Harry Potter) Harry James Potter is the title character of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. The majority of the books' plot covers seven years in the life of the orphan Potter, who, on his eleventh birthday, learns he is a wizard.

I wondered if I should add him, seeing I'm far from an expert on the franchise, but come on, even I know this cat faced an incredible amount of pure evil. Thank you for adding.

7 John McClane (Die Hard) John McClane is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Die Hard film series. He is portrayed by Bruce Willis.

Highly skilled, well armed international thieves are nothing for McClane, just give him the right size shoes and a machine gun. Ho ho ho.

8 Frodo Baggins (The Lord of the Rings) Frodo Baggins is a fictional character and is the main protagonist of J. R. R. Tolkien's novel The Lord of the Rings. He was a Hobbit of the Shire during the Third Age. He was also a Ring-bearer, a best friend to Samwise Gamgee, and one of the three Hobbits who sailed from Middle-earth to the Uttermost... read more

Nearly every scene in the film (The Return of the King) including Frodo is a test of his bravery and resolve.

9 Captain Nathan Algren (The Last Samurai)

A beautiful film. A highly courageous character that 1st must defeat some personal demons, only to find the truly courageous and honorable are his adversaries/captors.

10 Ofelia (Pan's Labyrinth)

This character lived through an unspeakably violent and inhumane time, and that is focused on in great detail in the film. A child's incredible brave journey, although the film is certainly not for younger children.

The Contenders
11 Raylan Givens (Justified)

Raylan plays dirty, no doubt, but his conviction to clean up his home county from its deep rooted domestic and foreign criminal element is nothing short of heroic.

13 Leonidas (300)

I mean do I have to explain. Marched into a unwinnable battle just to show Greece that a God King could bleed. Obviously that's not historically accurate, but that's beside the point.

14 Ellen Ripley (Alien Series) Ellen Louise Ripley is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Alien film series played by American actress Sigourney Weaver.
15 Captain America (Marvel Cinematic Universe) Captain Steven Grant Rogers, most known as Steve Rogers or Captain America, is a fictional superhero appearing in the American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Most of these guys, from what I can tell are fairly recent, but Lucas McCain puts Clint Eastwood to shame (almost)

18 Chief Brody (Jaws)

Dude took out two killer sharks despite original being afraid of the water and took at the original shark when two shark experts couldn't.

19 Mufasa (The Lion King) Mufasa is a major character in Disney's 1994 animated feature film, The Lion King. He is Simba's father, Sarabi's mate, Scar's older brother, and was King of the Pride Lands until his death. He is voiced by James Earl Jones.

Um... In Ragnorok and all the Avengers movies, he was brave, but in Thor and Thor: The Dark World, not so much. He wasn't a pushover or in any way unbrave, don't get me wrong, but for most of those movies, the biggest threat to him is humans for a long time. "Oh no! HUMANS!" But he gets his redemption in Ragnorok and the Avengers movies, Infinity War in particular.

21 Dutch (Predator)

Basically Schwarzenegger's equivalent to John Rambo, Dutch defeated an alien that killed a bunch of his friends.
