1 Captain Nathan Algren (The Last Samurai)
A beautiful film. A highly courageous character who first must defeat some personal demons, only to find the truly courageous and honorable are his adversaries and captors.
2 Mulan (Mulan)
Fa Mulan, a character inspired by an actual historic figure is a character who appears in Walt Disney Pictures' 36th animated feature film Mulan, as well as its sequel Mulan II. She is one of the bravest characters I know. She was brave enough to disguise herself as a boy and join the war.
She fought against huge odds for the honor of her family.
3 Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars)
Obi-Wan Kenobi is a fictional character in the Star Wars universe, played by Sir Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor. Kill an unbeatable foe who has just killed your master? Check. Take on Grievous and his minions singlehandedly? Child's play. Cripple and seemingly destroy his beloved apprentice? Heartbreaking, but done. Later, die at the hands of Darth Vader so that others might escape? Easy peasy. Bravery was never an issue with ole' Ben.
It's over, Anakin. I have the high ground.
He fought General Grievous and killed him with no fear whatsoever, and he fought Anakin and beat him even though he knew Anakin was stronger than him.
4 Harry Potter (Harry Potter)
Harry James Potter is the title character of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. The majority of the books' plot covers seven years in the life of the orphan Potter, who, on his eleventh birthday, learns he is a wizard. I wondered if I should add him, seeing I'm far from an expert on the franchise, but come on, even I know this guy faced an incredible amount of pure evil. Thank you for adding.
5 Ellen Ripley (Alien Series)
Ellen Louise Ripley is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Alien film series played by American actress Sigourney Weaver.
6 William Wallace (Braveheart)
Although this film has quite a few historical inaccuracies, there can be no doubt that the real William Wallace and the character in this film were both exceedingly brave.
Kinda why the movie is called Braveheart.
7 John McClane (Die Hard)
John McClane is a fictional character and the protagonist of the Die Hard film series. He is portrayed by Bruce Willis. Highly skilled, well-armed international thieves are nothing for McClane. Just give him the right size shoes and a machine gun. Ho ho ho.
8 Dutch (Predator)
Basically Schwarzenegger's equivalent to John Rambo, Dutch defeated an alien that killed a bunch of his friends.
9 Ofelia (Pan's Labyrinth)
This character lived through an unspeakably violent and inhumane time, and that is focused on in great detail in the film. A child's incredible brave journey, although the film is certainly not for younger children.
10 Lucas McCain (The Rifleman)
Most of these guys, from what I can tell, are fairly recent, but Lucas McCain puts Clint Eastwood to shame (almost).
The Contenders
11 Frodo Baggins (The Lord of the Rings)
Frodo Baggins is a fictional character and is the main protagonist of J. R. R. Tolkien's novel The Lord of the Rings. He was a Hobbit of the Shire during the Third Age. John James Rambo is a fictional character in the Rambo saga. He first appeared in the 1972 novel First Blood by David Morrell, but later became more famous as the protagonist of the film series, in which he was played by Sylvester Stallone. Tearing apart a town's police force is more than insanely unrealistic. You have to be very gutsy to do that. Later, he almost saves his niece from being forced into prostitution, which gives that same "all Hell is breaking loose" feel from First Blood.
13 Luke Skywalker (Star Wars)
Luke Skywalker is a fictional character appearing as the central protagonist of the original film trilogy, and as a supporting character in the sequel trilogy of the Star Wars universe created by George Lucas. He is portrayed by Mark Hamill.
14 Boo (Monster Inc.)
15 Katsumoto (The Last Samurai)
On second thought, I'd place him above Nathan Algren. I think maybe Tom Cruise would place him above Nathan Algren. No fear.
16 Captain America (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
Captain Steven Grant Rogers, most known as Steve Rogers or Captain America, is a fictional superhero appearing in the American comic books published by Marvel Comics. 17 Dobby (Harry Potter)
18 Rocky Balboa (Rocky)
Robert "Rocky" Balboa is the title character of the Rocky film series. The character was created by Sylvester Stallone, who also portrayed him in all six Rocky films and two Creed movies. Especially in Rocky IV, since he faced almost certain death. He also has pearls of wisdom.
19 Sam (The Lord of the Rings)
Samwise Gamgee, known as Sam, was a Hobbit of the Shire. He was Frodo Baggins' gardener and best friend. Sam proved himself to be Frodo's closest and most dependable companion, the most loyal of the Fellowship of the Ring, and also played a necessary role in protecting Frodo and destroying the One Ring... read more In my opinion, Sam is braver than Frodo. Sam was by Frodo's side the whole way, even when Frodo wasn't by his.
Simply ridiculously brave. He continued to follow Frodo even though he had the choice not to.
Sam vs. Shelob. That took some serious intestinal fortitude, Samwise Gamgee.
20 Raylan Givens (Justified)
Raylan plays dirty, no doubt, but his conviction to clean up his home county from its deep-rooted domestic and foreign criminal elements is nothing short of heroic.
21 Dr. Alan Grant (Jurassic Park)
22 Hermione Granger (Harry Potter)
23 Barney Fife (The Andy Griffith Show)
Sure, he's kind of goofy, to put it mildly, but in a few episodes, he shows his serious and brave side.
24 Han Solo (Star Wars)
Han Solo is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise. In the original film trilogy, Han and his co-pilot, Chewbacca, become involved in the Rebel Alliance which opposes the Galactic Empire.
