Top 10 Best Comic Strip Characters

Each comic strip that is famous and popular has a character that reaches out to millions of people. What are the top 10 best?
The Top Ten
Garfield (Garfield) Garfield is a comic strip cat, created by Jim Davis in 1978. Garfield is well-known in many countries and has appeared in over 2.500 newspapers. He has also had 2 live-action movies, 3 CGI-movies and two animated TV shows, Garfield and Friends (1988-1994) and The Garfield Show (2008-2014)... read more

I LOVE Garfield! He is the most hilarious cartoon in the world! Sometimes I wish I had Garfield as my cat!

I love how he kicks Odie! Just saying, if you go to the Garfield official site, there is a game where you can kick Odie!

Garfield, in his Garfield: The Movie appearance, is one of the cutest cats ever!

P.S. In a life-sized costume, he is tall.

He's cool. I don't really think of him as fat, and I saw two posters featuring him in my math class.

Odie (Garfield) Odie is a fictional dog who appears in the comic strip Garfield by Jim Davis. He has also appeared in the animated television series Garfield and Friends and The Garfield Show.

Most hilarious dog ever!

Garfield is his best friend, but from Garfield's point of view, they are the worst of enemies!

Jon Arbuckle (Garfield) Jonathan Quentin "Jon" Arbuckle is a fictional character from the Garfield comic strip by Jim Davis. He has also appeared in the animated television series Garfield and Friends, the computer-animated The Garfield Show, and two live-action/computer-animated feature films.

Nobody cares about Jon. It's all about Garfield and Odie.

Snoopy (Peanuts) Snoopy is a character in comic strip Peanuts. He first appears in the strip from October 4 1950. He often sleeps on the top of his dog house. He belongs to Charlie Brown. He was created by Charles M. Schulz. He also appears in all the specials and the 2015 Peanuts Movie.

Garfield's in the top ten, but Snoopy isn't?

OHHH, there's about to be a beatdown here!

It should be simple, seeing as how Snoopy is always dancing, playing baseball, and doing all kinds of active activities while Garfield just lies around and does absolutely nothing!

Seriously! How does a cat, who does nothing but eat and sleep, get in the top ten while Snoopy doesn't?

Snoopy has captured my heart for decades!

He is the Number 1!

He's not even in the top ten?

What's going on here?

Calvin (Calvin & Hobbes)

You can relate to Calvin like no other fictional character in any book or movie.

He is subtly funny, yet at the same time expresses ideas far beyond his age.

I can honestly say that Calvin has influenced me like nobody else.

Calvin is literally one of the main role models in my life.

He is not afraid to speak his mind and stands up for what he believes is right. He has a plethora of imagination and spunk.

Who doesn't want to be an awesome 6-year-old with a talking pet tiger?

Um, this doesn't make sense. How is Garfield number one when a comic strip relies solely on its characters to be amazing?

If Calvin and Hobbes is considered the top comic strip of all time (because it is), Calvin automatically wins.

Sorry, Kitty, time to step down.

Lieutenant Fuzz (Beetle Bailey)
Hobbes (Calvin & Hobbes) Hobbes is one of the two main characters in the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson. He is Calvin's stuffed tiger and best friend, being depicted with two distinct identities.

Calvin and Hobbes is the best comic strip out there by miles, and Hobbes is always basically the center of attention.

Not in a bad way because he earns that spotlight and keeps proving he deserves it time and time again.

He is so memorable and makes a great tuba player.

He could sound like Benatar in the Y.F.M.T.S. episodes of Your Favorite Martian, voiced by Ray William Johnson.

I think Hobbes should be ahead of Calvin.

I think Hobbes is much funnier, and his animal jokes are the best!

Charlie Brown (Peanuts)

I wish he could win for once. He's been through enough.

Beetle Baily (Beetle Baily)
Dagwood (Blondie)

The Newcomers

? Lyman (Garfield)
? Dilbert (Dilbert)
The Contenders
Jason Fox (Foxtrot)

Lots of great characters, but I'm voting for Jason because he deserves to be higher!

As much as I love Hobbes, this should be number one, not ten.

I mean, Garfield?!?!? Really?

Jason is interesting, but I don't know how to explain him.

Rat (Pearls Before Swine)

Machiavellian, dark, theatrical, short fuse, subtly homophobic. We can all relate to Rat and his unwillingness to cast his pearls before swine.

Liz Wilson (Garfield)
Nate Wright (Big Nate) The Big Nate comic strip's main character. Nate is 11 years old, he is an aspiring cartoonist, drummer, underachiever, and plays funny yet overdone pranks on Prank Day (the last day or 2nd last day of school). He is somewhat self-absorbed, believing himself to be irresistible to women despite repeated... read more
Arlene (Garfield) Arlene is Garfield's girlfriend. She is a pink, slim, beautiful stray cat with big red lips. Arlene and Garfield doesn't always get along, but she knows that he cares about her. And she cares about him as well... read more
Linus (Peanuts)

I felt really bad for him in the Great Pumpkin special.

Crocodiles (Pearls Before Swine)

The crocodiles are very, very funny. I can't even tell you how great they are.

Francis Pope (Big Nate)
Teddy Ortiz (Big Nate)
Archie Andrews (Archie)

An icon! However, I hate Riverdale and prefer the Filmation and DIC versions.

Schroeder (Peanuts)
Dennis (Dennis the Menace)

Yes, Dennis the Menace from the Beano is funny, cool, epic, and a good comic character.

I like both versions!

They both have their own charm, and why can't we just like both?

Bucky (Get Fuzzy)
Lucy (Peanuts)
Pig (Pearls Before Swine)
