Most Indestructible Comic Book Heroes

The Top Ten
1 Wolverine Wolverine is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly associated with the X-Men. His powers and abilities include a healing factor and his signature adamantium claws and adamantium skeleton.

Did you know Wolverine's head can never be cut off as his whole skeleton is made of adamantium metal, which is known as the strongest metal in the universe? Even if his head is cut off, he can regenerate it. Marvel Comics has proved that even if a single cell of Wolverine's remains undegraded, he can regenerate from it.

Ripped in half by the Hulk and left for two years, alive. No one else can survive that.

Come on, he's definitely the most indestructible hero. True, my research has shown that the guy can be killed, but I don't think anyone could burn the skin off him or decapitate him without him killing them first.

2 Deadpool Deadpool is a fictional antihero created by Marvel who appears in their comics. Deadpool's first appearance was in New Mutants #98 by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza in February of 1991. His powers include self-healing and super strength. He is regarded as one of the funniest characters in comics due... read more

He survived getting liquefied by the Hulk and ripped into shreds by the Hulk. He's regenerated from only his right arm. He's been gutted, decapitated, chopped, eaten, blasted, and so much more, yet he still lives. Wolverine's healing factor is affected by his nutrition, while Deadpool's isn't, so Wolverine's healing can be drastically reduced, while Deadpool's will continue no matter what. Deadpool can survive longer without oxygen, water, or food than Wolverine, making him practically immortal. Also, (this is something I heard, not 100% sure) Wolverine cannot regenerate his head, so if he is decapitated and his head is kept away from its body long enough, he will die. Deadpool, on the other hand, even without his immortality curse, can regenerate his head if he can regenerate from only his right arm.

3 Hulk Robert Bruce Banner, also known as The Hulk or Bruce Banner, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and was portrayed by Edward Norton and Mark Ruffalo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Nuclear explosions are said to be hotter than the sun, and Gladiator's heat vision is said to be hotter than the core of a star. Hulk has survived both. Banner tried to kill himself, and "the other guy" just spat out the bullet, so good luck trying to kill him in "Banner form."

Having so many layers of skin means that most attacks bounce off of him. Put that with a healing ability, and you can only beat the Hulk when he's human.

Hulk wins hands down because the Hulk always comes out when Banner is in danger, which makes the whole kill Banner plan impossible.

4 Silver Surfer The Silver Surfer is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Born Norrin Radd, the Silver Surfer's abilities are given to him through the Power Cosmic. His first appearance was in Fantastic Four #48 in 1966 and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. He was... read more

The Surfer can survive being in a star. In fact, that just makes him stronger. A nuke has almost killed or has killed all the other heroes above the Surfer on this list. A nuke would just make the Surfer stronger. Anyone who doesn't vote for the Surfer doesn't know their comics very well.

Being able to heal doesn't equal indestructible! Indestructible means not being able to get damaged in the first place, not getting hurt then healing from it. That's why I vote for the Surfer.

Has the ability to absorb and manipulate the universe's ambient energy, making him extremely invulnerable.

5 Superman Superman is a comic character. And probably the first powerful superhero in the fictional world. The character was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, high school students living in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1933. It was published by DC comics. The first animated superhero movie was superman... read more

Superman should be #1. Wolverine and Deadpool shouldn't be on the list since they can heal but are not as durable.

Talking about Superman's durability, it surpasses the Hulk since the Hulk can regenerate. People think that the Hulk is more durable than Superman, but that's not true because the Hulk heals himself from blasts or bullets that hit him. Superman only heals when he gets solar-charged. If you watch "Superman Returns," you'll see that a bullet bounces off Superman's eye. Also, in "Batman v Superman," there was an explosion in the court, and Superman withstood it without even a scratch. It's stated and seen in many movies that if a person tries to punch Superman, they will eventually hurt themselves.

6 Thor Thor Odinson is a fictional superhero appearing in the American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character, based on the Norse mythological deity of the same name, is the Asgardian god of thunder and possesses the enchanted hammer Mjolnir, which grants him the ability of flight and weather... read more

Thor is not immortal, but being the son of Odin makes him hard to hurt.

7 Hercules

Truly immortal and very durable. Not a guy you want to mess with.

If he is immortal, that means he cannot die no matter what. If he can't die, then he is indestructible. In his latest film, Wolverine can have his healing abilities stripped from him and can be damaged by attacks, making Wolverine very much mortal and vulnerable. So Hercules beats Wolverine by a long shot.

8 Captain Marvel

Physical and magical invulnerability. Very hard guy to take down.

9 The Thing

Rock-like skin, very durable, and has an enhanced lung capacity.

10 Sentry

There are a couple of truly invincible characters in comics, and Sentry is one of those very few.

The Contenders
11 Martian Manhunter The Martian Manhunter is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer Joseph Samachson and designed by artist Joe Certa, the character first appeared in the story "The Manhunter from Mars" in Detective Comics #225.

Everything can go right through him if he chooses. He could be the last Martian standing in any battle.

Invulnerability, intangibility, and advanced healing factor... Who's Wolverine next to him?

12 The Vision

He can control his body density. He knocked off Ultron's head.

13 Luke Cage (Power Man) Luke Cage, also known as Power Man, is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Luke Cage first appeared in Luke Cage, Hero for Hire #1 and was created by Archie Goodwin, John Romita, Sr. and George Tuska.
14 Squirrel Girl
15 The Flash The Flash is the name of several superheroes appearing in comic books published by DC Comics. Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert, the original Flash first appeared in Flash Comics #1.
16 Deathstroke Deathstroke is a fictional supervillain appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. He is a mercenary and assassin who first appeared in The New Teen Titans #2.
17 Doctor Manhattan Doctor Manhattan is a fictional character who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. He debuted in the graphic novel miniseries Watchmen, published in 1986 and 1987. Doctor Manhattan was created by writer Alan Moore with artist Dave Gibbons.

Really, he should be in first place.

18 Phoenix/Dark Jean Grey
19 Colossus Colossus is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly associated with the X-Men.

Organic steel body, extremely powerful, invulnerability to physical and even energy blast damage, Class 100 strength, highly enhanced durability, and highly resistant to electric and psionic attacks. He can withstand temperatures as high as 9000 degrees Celsius to as low as -300 degrees Celsius. He is proficient in judo, jiu-jitsu, and MMA. He has gone toe to toe with some of the heavy hitters of the Marvel Universe like World War Hulk, Gladiator, Vision, Thing, Juggernaut, Thor, Hyperion, and some Inhumans too. He also possessed the powers of the Juggernaut and Phoenix Force.

If Colossus is not high on this list, then this is bull!

20 Drax the Destroyer Drax the Destroyer is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he is portrayed by Dave Bautista.
21 Hyperion
22 Captain America Captain Steven Grant Rogers, most known as Steve Rogers or Captain America, is a fictional superhero appearing in the American comic books published by Marvel Comics.
