Best Cover Songs by Northern Kings
Northern Kings are a Finnish metal cover supergroup, made up of four singers you probably already know:Jarkko Ahola (Teräsbetoni, Ahola)
Marco Hietala (Nightwish, Tarot)
Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica)
Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto (Charon, Harmaja).
They released two albums - in 2007 and 2008. Most of their covers use symphonic metal style but not only. These guys were really very creative - their new arrangements changed significantly the originals but I like most of these changes. They turned fast songs into slow songs and vice versa.
Tina Turner symphonic metal cover. Vox - all singers.
One of the most impressive and crafted metal covers I've ever heard.
Cutting Crew cover. Vox and new arrangement - Jarkko Ahola.
He turned this fast rock song into a beautiful and epic ballad. This guy is an amazing singer and musician with great music instincts.
Jarkko's voice is just amazing in this one!
Electric Light Orchestra cover. Vox and new arrangement - Jarkko Ahola.
His vocals are oh my god from start to finish, esp. the intro and 2:55-3:05!
Seal symphonic metal cover. Vox - all singers. Nice video to this song.
Billy Idol cover. Vox and new arrangement - Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto.
This singer's got one of the lowest voices in metal. The orignal song is relatively fast but this guy used slow doom style to make the cover sound different. Awesome cover version.
Frank Sinatra cover. Vox - Jarkko Ahola.
Note from the band: Instrumentals incorporate elements of Queen's "The Show Must Go On".
Depeche Mode cover. Vox - all singers.
Duran Duran cover. Vox - all singers.
Lionel Richie cover. Vox - Jarkko Ahola. This ballad isn’t a ballad anymore...
Peter Gabriel cover. Vox - Tony Kakko
Journey cover. Vox - Marco Hietala.
