Top 10 Best Tony Hawk Games
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland is my favorite because it has some cool new features while also keeping the core gameplay physics and style intact. Also, the soundtrack is awesome! There's something about this game that gives it a mix of both nostalgia and fun!
Yes, on this list, for me, it's right next to Underground, slightly ahead. It's just so fun! It mixes nostalgia with modern gameplay elements, and I think that's what you want in a skating game - or any game.
This was my favorite game because it was my childhood. I used to spend hours every day just playing this and having the time of my life. I love the cartoon aspect of the game, and it is just so much fun.
I really wish you could vote for the whole Underground series to be #1. They had plans for an Underground 3, but Tony Hawk: Ride made them go broke, sadly. The Underground series is so well put together, and it's a nice mix of easy and challenging gameplay. No frustration, no pain, just an amazing game - well, both of them. The controls are fresh and easy. Where can you go wrong?
I have played them all from Pro Skater 1 on PS1 up to Proving Ground on Xbox 360, and this is my favorite. I just love the soundtrack, the levels, the characters, and the story. Being a huge Jackass fan helps, but this one is awesome! If you haven't played it yet, then get it! It's really cheap on eBay or from a charity shop, so just go out and get it. You will never look back!
The PS1 version was the first Tony Hawk game I ever played, and it was the one that got me into these games! Now I'm a huge fan and have all of the Neversoft-developed ones!
The original time-based career was the best! They need to make another game like this again for the fans!
Neverending evenings playing this one!
I borrowed this game once for around a week, and it's still my favorite one. I have Tony Hawk's Underground 2, which is my second favorite Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game. I liked the Vancouver level because I live in Vancouver. I also enjoyed using the Moon Physics cheat to jump up the side of the building in the Vancouver level and other levels!
I really did love this game to death. It truly was the perfect skating game. No skating game will ever beat it. This game was my bible back in high school. If I have a kid, I will make him bring this game into show-and-tell and say, "This is the best skating game of all time."
Good level designs, fun missions, countless hours... This game was my childhood. Everything Pro Skater had, Pro Skater 2 improved on. This is one of the most fun games I have ever played. Why is it below THAW and THUG2?!
I have to say, while I love this whole series, this one was really the most special to me (alongside THUG). Pro Skater 3 is also fantastic, but my heart has to go with 2 here.
Just great and awesome! I loved the secret Skate Heaven level, and the School level was my favorite of all. Unlocking Spider-Man was really fun, and his specials were cool.
This was the game that changed Tony Hawk games forever. It turned the levels into an open world and featured the best levels to date!
I'm currently playing it, and I've been playing it for several years. It has been and will always be a fantastic video game.
Best THPS, although 2 comes very close. Better than the THUG games if you started the series early on and are used to the Pro Skater-style gameplay.
Very good Tony Hawk game! It is actually my favorite! You can skate in an amusement park, factory, down the street, in a capitol, in a school, and even more - all without any load times! There are a ton of goals, including classic goals, spot challenges, and even pro missions where you skate with pro skaters! If you haven't already, give this game a try!
I just voted this #1 so I could get it higher on the list. It's underrated because it came out when the series was in a major decline. But it has the best graphics and control, all in all. My favorite of all time is a tie between THUG2 and THAW.
This was better than Project 8 in every way. I can't even pick up Project 8 anymore because of this game. Huge improvement. Still, it's on the worse side, but it holds a place in my heart.
This and Project 8 are fantastic. I disagree when people say American Wasteland was the last good Tony Hawk game. That's not true. The franchise went downhill when Robomodo got the license to the games.
This game is vastly underrated. I have played every TH game ever, and I've never seen anyone praising this game as much as the others. There are some reasons why it deserves more recognition:
- A more serious plot
- Much bigger and better customization than the lackluster options in THP8
- Finally, free roam without loading screens (like in Pro Skater or Underground), or having to cross a tunnel (like in American Wasteland). The map is three times bigger than Project 8, with truly beautiful locations
- The most realistic locations in the series. You can Google them and see how similar they are to real life
- Great soundtrack (as always), but this one has a more sophisticated playlist
- Improved features: you can customize your own skate park again. The video editor is also fun, and for the first time, you can create ramps or rails in free roam anytime
- The hardest challenge of all to get 100%, especially on Sick difficulty levels
- Graphics still hold up for a 2007 game, and they're still better than Pro Skater 5
- You barely ever see any glitches. I've never encountered a bug in this one
- The game mechanics are outstanding, especially with the Nail the Trick, Nail the Grab, and Nail the Manual features. The controls are well-balanced for both old and new Tony Hawk players
This was the last decent Tony Hawk game, and personally, it's my favorite one. At this time, you could see Neversoft taking the series more seriously and improving it with each release. Unfortunately, Activision shut them down, mostly to focus on Call of Duty development.
R.I.P. Tony Hawk Franchise 1999-2007. We miss you, Neversoft eyeball. :(
..Screw Robomodo.
I absolutely loved this game. The music, the multiplayer, the maps - all of it was close to perfection. I completely lost interest in the series after Underground 1 and 2. They weren't bad games, but the decline in quality was too obvious for me.
The best one to start the series - fun and easy to follow!
