Greatest Metal Epics of All Time
Everything is epic here: epic drum intro, epic vocals, epic solo and that epic riff. The groove in the riff makes it sound like The Bolero of metal music. And Ritchie Blackmore played it like the metal Maurice Ravel.
Oh yes, an epic outro, too. This song is an epic metal masterpiece start to finish.
I will never understand why this song gets so much attention and credits - it's several notes repeated, Ozzy’s bad throaty singing is contained within a single octave only, and his throat is so tight that hurts my ears.
And it's not even a metal song in the strict sense - it's heavy blues rock mixed with psychedelic rock, jazz and funk.
I know that many people will thumb me down but I told the truth - this is one of the most overrated songs ever.
Impressive symphonic metal - can't get more epic than this. Outstanding music, vocals and performance in general - one of the most beautiful and powerful pieces I've ever heard.
Should be top
This is my fave epic song by Maiden. Love both versions (Paul and Bruce) but maybe prefer Bruce's rendition from the Live After Death album - because it's faster.
This is really epic!
A hidden gem - all preconditions for being unnoticed: the band is underrated in general, and this awesome piece came out in 2001, which was way after their relative peak in 1990-1992.
The intro riff is so powerful that can open your 3rd eye, especially the live version from California Jamming 1974. Coverdale vox - remarkable, too.
