Dopesmoker, that's all
Why is Slipknot at the number
Nine spot? Slayer does not deserve the top spot on this list. I mean, they are heavy, but just, really, they are a repeat of bands that came before them with Satanic album names and stuff. That does not make a band heavy. Just loud.
But People= Sh*t is much louder than Hell Awaits. And heavier, also with better vocals. Slipknot's music actually has a meaning, unlike Slayer's senseless Satanism inspired singing. That is pointless, and, if a song has no meaning, it cannot be heavy. Heaviness is the result of lyrics and music that has a dark meaning. Slayer has no meaning, and, is just noise. To qualify as heavy, you ave to have a brutal MEANING, not just sound effects without a meaning. Slayer has no purpose, and therefore, is without meaning. Meaning is the key to heaviness, because heaviness is not just loudness, Slayer has no heaviness. IF heaviness was merely loudness, Slipknot would (still) be heavier because it is also usually louder.
Listen to Surfacing, Eyeless, (Sic), Purity, Pulse of the Maggots, Three Nil, AOV, Skeptic, Lech, and every song on the Iowa album. Try to tell me they are not heavy then!
I love slipknot and when I get older I will show my children this band. When I first heard of slipknot I was already addicted to it... I found after slipknot, betraying the martyrs and I love them too. Then after them I found dead by April... Their music sounds a little like dubstep n the beginning and I love them. The first song I heard by slipknot-psychosocial
Betraying the martyrs- let it go
Dead by april-beautiful nightmare
Also I like black veil brides and the first song I heard by them was in the end... Mine and my girlfriends song by them is rebel love song but ita not really metal
Who ever put them on is a metal poser, they are not heavy, listen to songs like snuff, dead memories, duality, I love slipknot but they are not heavy enough and do not deserve the number 9 spotV 61 Comments
Go back 38 years to the beginnings of Heavy as we know it now. The legendary Jerusalem (1972) managed and produced by Ian Gillan were years before their time. Listen to the official remastered reissue just released by Rockadrome Records, even heavier. 'Primitive Man ' has got to be amongst the heavist songs ever written
This is definitely the heaviest band on this list. It looks like people completely mistook what the question was. These guys are ridiculously heavy and brutal and should definitely be #1 heaviest. I like most of the bands in the Top Ten better than these guys, but Sadistik Exekution is much heavier than any of my favorite bands (Metallica, Iron Maiden, Avenged Sevenfold, etc.)V 1 Comment
Unfortunately, this list is people voting for what is most comfortable in their realm. They're not going out and exploring what is truly heavy; it's merely people who aren't really into the genre voting for what is most prominent and mainstream. When put up against Job For A Cowboy, Behemoth, Thy Art Is Murder, etc., Metallica simply does not compare in terms of heaviness. And yet they remain at the top. Why? Because people recognize it. It's the "safe" part of metal. I will cede that Metallica was revolutionary. They brought a niche genre to a wider audience. However, that was 25 years ago. They are just not relevant to metal anymore.
You guys have no idea what metal is until you've heard these guys. Metallica's okay and Slipknot's okay, but this band is super ' heavy.
I don't really enjoy brutal death metal unless it has more of a grind edge and pig squeals less prominent. (i.e. I like cattle decapitation and brutal truth but not this). But obviously this is top 20 heavy
I love them there sound is just so different but in a good way
Whole song is screamo! M/
The way they keep the heaviness mixing with that punk type of sound is unbelievable.
While most other bands just play for the fun of it, these guys put their heart into it. They're heavy and sound like they've been playing for ages.
Come on! It is a christian band but at least put it higher on this list
I'm gonna be honest here I love Linkin Park, but I don't think they can be considered a "metal band"
Great band, don't belong anywhere on this list.
Is this a joke?
This should be above infant annihilator, behemoth, and last days of humanity for overall heaviness. dying fetus whooo? These guys are pure original headbanger stuff, only the most brutal, desensitized soul is really able to handle it's overall crushing speed, power, and lyrical brutality. also, Devourment is just a Linkin Park rip offV 2 Comments
They are one word awesome!
^ laugh out loud not even bro there were still way heavier bands than Metallica and maiden in both the 80's and 90's
ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Bring me the horizon has way heavier breakdowns and greater vocal ranger than any other band on this list the only band that could ever compete would be Asking Alexandria and
Parkway drive both of which are also way heavier than these other bands like Metallica and iron maiden now if this was heaviest 80's 90's bands then I would totally agree with this chart but for this there is no way that Metallica motorhead or iron maiden compete with some of the modern day metal bands out there
Lmao bmth is way heavier than bands on this list. I listen to slayer then bmth and definitely found bmth more heavier...
5fdp should be way higher on this list. They are pretty damn heavy
