I like to look at things positively.
Enjoy life, and especially the years. Get happy by remembering some of the best years of the 2000s.

2007
In 2007, the first iPhone was released by Apple, revolutionizing the smartphone industry. The United Nations adopted the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Bulgaria and Romania officially joined the European Union.
My favorite year of the 2000s and also my favorite year of all time. I have such a big box full of memories from 2007 that sometimes I wish I could go back!
I remember the summer, the greatest summer I've experienced (I was born in 1999, by the way). Jeez! I had a better life when I was a kid. At least everyone respected each other back then!
I was born in 1999. My favorite years were 2007-2012, except for 2009.
By 2013, I noticed things were starting to suck. 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 were crap, and this year has nothing really exciting going on. I don't have much hope yet for 2019 and 2020.

2005
YouTube was founded in 2005, transforming how people share and consume video content. The Kyoto Protocol officially became effective, marking a global effort to combat climate change. Angela Merkel became the first female Chancellor of Germany.
This year was the best year and had the most active hurricane season of all time. In contrast, 1983 was awful and had the least active hurricane season ever.
By that logic, it's time to make a math theorem: The more active the hurricane season is, the better the year is. It's not foolproof, but it should work for most years.
Started high school that year and left primary school. MTV still had a fair amount of music videos at the time. Kids TV had presenters. CBBC and CITV had something to watch on Saturday mornings.
WWE kicked ass along with TNA that year, in my humble opinion, before Disney was all about Hannah Montana, High School Musical, Jonas Brothers, etc. So many good songs, films, and events happening.
Good times.

2006
In 2006, NASA launched the New Horizons spacecraft, which would later provide detailed images of Pluto. Montenegro declared independence from Serbia, becoming a new sovereign state. The International Astronomical Union also redefined the status of Pluto, classifying it as a dwarf planet.
Great year. I was 8 at the time. Back then, YouTube was amazing. I would spend hours watching funny videos about cats, people falling, and weird animations on my mom's old computer.
I would mess around with my mom's Facebook even though I had no idea how to use it, and I loved watching TV. I also liked 2000-2005 and 2007, but in my opinion, 2006 was the golden year of the 2000s.
My favorite year of all time, 2006. New Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo was made in that year. Also, Superman Returns, which came out, I saw back in 2014 but I think it was in 2010.
I really want to go back to that year. 2006 was a great year, which is like 2010.

2002
The African Union was officially launched in 2002, aiming to promote unity and development across Africa. East Timor became an independent nation after years of conflict. Euro banknotes and coins entered circulation for the first time in 12 European Union countries, simplifying trade and economic policy in the region.
I was born in 2002. As I was only a small child that year, I don't know too much except for stuff like top children's shows, movies, books, etc.
I'm glad this was my birth year. It was close, but I can say I was born in good old 2002. P.S. I was born on December 10th, 2002.
I was born in this year, and it's amazing to think that Sam Raimi's Spider-Man came out a month after I was born.

2009
In 2009, the Lisbon Treaty came into effect, reforming the European Union's governance structure. Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th President of the United States and the first African American to hold the office. The Large Hadron Collider achieved its first high-energy collisions, advancing particle physics research.
I was four in 2009, just before I started school in January 2010. Everything was blissfully easy, and my biggest worry was if I would be allowed on the Wii. Had many friends that I would play with, all day, every day. Of course, I was unaware of bad world events such as the economic crash, which I can understand makes it not so good for some people, but for me personally, 2009 was the best year of the 2000s.
This is the year when two of my all-time favorite songs came out (Poker Face and LoveGame, both by Lady Gaga), even though I was only five. It was just a really good year for me.
Fast forward a bit, and we get to 2017, where things took a left turn.

2008
In 2008, CERN's Large Hadron Collider was inaugurated as the world's largest and most powerful particle accelerator. The Beijing Olympics took place, showcasing China's development on the global stage. SpaceX successfully launched the Falcon 1, becoming the first privately developed liquid-fueled rocket to reach orbit.
2008 was the best year in the 2000s because it was the best year for video games and sports. I also loved 2008 because I had so much fun that year. 2008 is an unforgettable year for me.
For video games: My favorite Mario Kart game ever, Mario Kart Wii, was released in 2008, and Grand Theft Auto IV, a game that I played so much, was also released in 2008.
For sports: One of my favorite soccer clubs, Manchester United, won the UEFA Champions League. My favorite soccer player, Cristiano Ronaldo, won the Ballon d'Or in 2008, and one of my favorite NHL teams, the Detroit Red Wings, won the Stanley Cup.
I was only 16 this year, but it was better than other years, slightly even better than 2009. This was the last year for good music (especially rock) in the decade!
Although 2009 had better movies, this year was just way more fun and exciting, and I was just more curious about life. Also, it was the year I started to do something that changed my life forever. It had its ups and downs, but nonetheless, it was the best year ever!
Most memorable film: The Dark Knight
Most memorable album: Appeal to Reason by Rise Against

2000
In 2000, the Human Genome Project produced its first working draft of the human genome. The Millennium Development Goals were established by the United Nations, targeting global development and poverty reduction. The International Space Station received its first long-term crew, marking a new era in international space collaboration.
2000 is the #1 Best Year of all time. Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Capcom vs. SNK, Tatsunoko Fight, Paper Mario, Kirby 64, Power Stone 2, Sonic Shuffle, Tech Romancer, and Project Justice are awesome video games.
My brother got Super Smash Bros for Christmas. That was an N64 game. I played Sin and Punishment for N64. We played Dragonball Z Legends for the PlayStation, the greatest DBZ game ever made. Dragonball Z anime and Japanese culture dominated television and made pop culture in the 2000s. I graduated from high school.
Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats aired on Toon Disney U.K. in 2000. That year was mind-blowing. 2000 is a unique, dazzling, stunning, most lovable, popular year of all time, and it's #1 of the 2000s and always #1. The year 2000 is forever the king of the modern and nostalgia and anime era.

2004
Facebook was launched in 2004, starting as a social networking site for college students. The European Union saw its largest expansion, welcoming ten new member states. NASA successfully landed the Spirit and Opportunity rovers on Mars, advancing exploration of the planet.
Honestly, this year should at least be in the top 3. Outside the Indian Ocean Tsunami, the election, and Florida hurricanes, '04 kind of felt like we were pulling back together. We decided to end the pointless wars with Iraq and Afghanistan.
Television and entertainment were doing pretty good with lots of variety. The economy as well started getting a lot more on track.
I was young, but 2004 was a lot of fun. People were happier, socializing more, and social media/tech was not as advanced. That's a big reason things were not super political. It was fun to be a kid during these times. Fashion wasn't too good though.

2003
In 2003, the Human Genome Project was completed, mapping the entire sequence of human DNA. The Concorde made its final flight, marking the end of the era of commercial supersonic travel. The year also included the successful launch of Mars Exploration Rover Spirit, which began a long period of scientific discovery on the planet.
This was an amazing year in my memory. When I recall the music of that year that I was listening to, or that had been released in the 5 prior that I was listening to, the events of the year, me turning 18 at the end of it, and just getting into the rhythm of adulthood off to college, overall, it was a good year. I have the fondest memories of this year.
2003 was a blast for me because it was when I was in high school and everything was going good for me. It's when I met my first girlfriend and had a great summer.
The music that was a hit for me was Trapt, Saliva, and Metallica's St. Anger release that year. MTV had awesome videos and WWE was in the Ruthless Aggression era.

2001
In 2001, Apple introduced the iPod, revolutionizing how people listened to music. Wikipedia, a free and open online encyclopedia, was launched and quickly grew into a major information resource. The year also saw the release of the first version of Mac OS X, which marked a major shift in Apple's operating system.
I find it intriguing how a lot of people say that 2001, my birth year, was one of the best years of the 2000s. But with 9/11, all of the amazing things it had to offer immediately get overshadowed because of how impactful that event was.
2001 would be much more highly rated otherwise, is what I'm trying to say.
Being the person I am, I just have to add the fact that Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance formed this year. They're bands, if you don't know.
This year is at the bottom of the list for an obvious reason. But besides 9/11, 2001 was a pretty kickass year. Great music, video games, movies, and television. Mt. Dew Code Red was released that year, need I say more?
