Top 10 Best Things that Have Happened in 2021

It seemed sad that there was a list for "worst things that have happened in 2021" over halfway through the month and not a best things one, so I have made this list. And yes, I know using numbers instead of letters for this one list is strange for me, but this makes it almost identical to the "worst things 2021" one. Enjoy!
The Top Ten
1 COVID-19 vaccine productions boost

The productions of COVID-19 vaccines continue to boost, and more and more people are getting vaccinated every day.

Update: Been vaccinated for a while now, looking to get my next shot as soon as possible! Things are looking good!

This was a really good moment but sadly not enough people in my country Hong Kong are getting vaccinated enough and there are still lots of cases even with vaccinated people so we still have to stay in masks for the time being.

If you're in America, you can easily get a vaccine now. I just got vaccinated most recently on my first dose, and I have a very mild sore left arm, which I feel very little.

Get vaccinated, America.

2 Biden gets inaugurated

Okay, Trump supporters on this website. I respect you. Just because I think Trump is super despicable and a sociopath like the rest of the world outside the US, doesn't mean I don't like you. There. That's done. But yeah, today, 4 hours and 8 minutes, wait, scratch that, 4 hours and 9 minutes ago Trump officially left the white house, and Biden got inaugurated. Hooray!
Edit: wow, he's doing better than I thought so far, I'm impressed! I thought he would be a decent but boring president but nope. He's already made some great decisions I support, though it's too early to have a strong opinion.

I'm glad that we elected a man who is appropriate for this moment, and urged every American to come together with challenges ahead.
He told us to bring America together, don't get disagreements into tribal fights, have our leaders speak out against lies, and wish a silent prayer on the four hundred thousand dead from the virus.

3 Donald Trump is impeached for the second time

There was a time where I, wouldn't say stood up for Trump, but at least played Devil's Advocate, in that yeah he's bad, but he's not THAT bad. However, with his mishandling of a global pandemic, and his desperate attempts to cling on to power by any means necessary, he's shown that he's not fit to be in office.
And frankly I hope America learns from their lesson, and never elects anyone this mad with power again.

Donald Trump was without a doubt one of the most racist and egoistical world leaders of all time. Good job US for finally getting rid of this idiot.

I really do hope that it's successful this time. He needs to be stopped before something really bad happens. The attack on the Capitol was terrorism, and if they can stop him, his supporters will follow.

4 Donald Trump banned from Twitter

Banning him was a good thing. Maybe a bit extreme, but it was still good. Maybe a better approach would have been to have people review his tweets before officially posting them, because then anything horribly offensive and degrading to all the minorities and people he detests, usually unfairly, would not be posted and the few ok things he said would be.

What was the point of this? He was funny to look at..., now we can't do that anymore. Besides I'm pretty sure this is infringement of freedom of speech, and I don't even like Trump

glad that terrorist got banned. he is narcisictic, a bully, stupid, mentally challenged, small brain, xenophobic, racist (He invented racism). Prices were so high he ruind economy he also ruined climate I used to have lots of rain here but because of trump all the rain is gone Portland and the pacific northwest will turn into a desert.

5 The African Continental Free Trade Area comes into effect

This does have some negative benefits as well as positive ones, but it should still go on here. For those of you who don't know, the African Continental Free Trade Area is a free trade area that was founded in 2018 but didn't come into effect until January 1, 2021.

6 United Nations declares 2021 the International Year of Peace and Trust

It's true! They're obviously just trying to lift our spirits during this sad time, but whatever. It's still a pretty great thing that not many people know. Now you know.

Peace should be the future. Otherwise, war would lead us to death of humanity. (Via nuclear and biological weapons)

Even though, there's still going to be issues in the world!

7 The United Nations declares 2021 the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables

Hooray! Now all the carrots and broccoli and kale are going to form by the masses and help us fight covid-19! Or not. This might have been put into effect to help moms and dads feed their kids veggies, but it does seem odd.

Weird, but congrats to those strict parents.

8 BLM gets nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize

Your message is good. Do yourself a favor BLM and try not to get associated with actually bad groups that hurt your image though.

Thankfully it's the normal part of the BLM.

Toxic/radical BLM supporters have no place in the movement.

There's the regular BLM inc, which does peaceful protests and then there's the Black Panther Trojans.

9 Derek Chauvin found guilty on all 3 charges related to George Floyd's death

His guilty verdict is a blatant example of being a masterclass of severe police misconduct. While there wasn't justice being served, there was accountability for committing murder.

I don't think there was ever any doubt he was guilty. Thank god it wasn't a not guilty verdict, or there would have been more unneeded riots.

Now he's being sent to 22.5 years to prison. That's what he gets for mindlessly murdering an innocent man as well as attempting to kill a 14 year old teen back in 2017. Yep, he tried to hurt a child.

10 Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip are vaccinated

Many other celebrities have already been vaccinated, including these two, Steve Martin, Ian McKellen, Martha Stewart, Joe Biden, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kamala Harris, and much more.

I mean prince Philip dies anyway. And what's so good about this everyone should be treated the same. Why don't I say I got vaccinated and it's one of the best things that has happened to everyone

It's good to see that vaccinations have been taking place.

The Newcomers

? Taliban takes over Kabul, capital of Afghanistan
The Contenders
11 Kamala Harris becomes the first female and black Vice-President of the United States

This is a milestone because of representation. Now young girls and non white individuals can look up to the white house and see its possible to run a country.

It warms my heart that she is the first colored and woman vice president in American history.

Maybe she isn't the best candidate but it's a big milestone for the United States.

12 The border between Saudi Arabia and Qatar reopens

There's not much else to say about this one, but maybe it will inspire peace between the two countries.

13 The United States rejoins the Paris Climate Accord and the World Health Organization

Yay! Trump was really making it obvious that he's fine with the world burning by stopping the fight against climate change as much as he could, and there was actually a noticeable decrease in the environment while he was president, but hopefully now that they're back in those two organisations, the damage Trump has indirectly done and been a big part of will be repaired.

14 The number of COVID-19 vaccinations administered worldwide exceeds 100 million

The sheer scientific triumph of the COVID vaccines is a giant leap forward.

I am pleasantly surprised at how fast that number has grown.

I added this to the list because, I mean, big milestone!

15 Joe Biden cancels Keystone XL pipeline

I don't have a very strong opinion on this decision, because there are some quite good things about it and quite bad things. Alberta depends on their oil as a province, and this is a big lost to their economy, which is a bad thing, but this is good because it really is going to help the environment, and it shows Biden is all for the environment, which is really important after the damage to our environment that ensued while Trump was in office.

16 The United Nations declares 2021 the international year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development

I'm sorry that I had to put in all these things that the UN said, but like I said I had to fill in the space here.

17 Keeping Up With the Kardashians is cancelled

You know this was the most popular reality TV show of all time for a reason. The finale aired on June 10th, ending the series after nearly 14 years & 20 seasons.

Finally! After brainwashing young girls for 14 years, this sickening show is being cancelled. Good riddance!

A TV Show being cancelled isn't as good as other stuff, but 14 years was too long for this rubbish.

18 Caillou gets removed from PBS Kids

I was excited when I heard this, until Cartoonito decided to bring this piece of crap back (and what's even worse is that they're airing the Classic Caillou episodes from the 1990s). If you think yellow shirt Caillou was bad enough, gray shirt Caillou is even worse.

I want to know why so many "best things" on this list are actually just spiteful crap. Seriously teens, it's a kids show. Unless someone is forcing you to watch the show you should just not care about it instead of hating this stuff.

You guys celebrated then but now he's back with a vengeance. If you're wondering what channel he's going to be on, he's set to air on Cartoon Network (thanks to Cartoonito, which may or may not be the start of the dark ages).

19 Derek Chauvin sentenced to 22.5 years in prison

Well, looks like justice has been served to the Floyd family (for now). Not only that, but Derek has even attempted to kill a 14-year old boy back in 2017. You know someone is an abusive cop when they flat-out hurt actual children under 18.

Killers deserve to be punished, whatever clothing (uniform) they are wearing.

20 Over 480 million people fully vaccinated against Coronavirus

Vaccines won't save the world from corona, even if they were helpful. The government shouldn't have to force communist actions anyway.

That's great but I don't know if 480 million is really a milestone we really don't need separate items for 470 million 490 million etc.

Honestly, we really need a lot more. However, this is a pretty good milestone!

21 The Maple Leafs beat the Canadiens 5-4 in overtime in the first game of the season

Take that, Canadiens! Okay, I had to put this on here. I'm a Torontonian, what do you expect. Also, sadly almost nothing good has happened yet in 2021 so I had to put in a few space-fillers. This was a very intense game, and had everyone on the edge of their seats.

Well, congrats to your team, I guess.

22 The number of COVID-19 vaccinations administered worldwide exceeds 2 billion
23 Rush Limbaugh's death
24 Jeff Bezos announces that he will step down as CEO of Amazon and names Andy Jassy as his replacement

I never liked that guy.

25 Reddit Users lead a Revolt Against Wall Street Hedge Funds

Also can we get this higher than some dumb TV shows getting cancelled? Come on this is one of the few events this year that could actually be described as changing the world for the better.

Yes this is absolutely amazing. All of those rich billionaires deserve it.

Eat the rich. Wall Street, trading and the pursuit of infinite growth are the cause of most of the world's ills (unfettered capitalism = climate change, oil & diamonds = war...)
