Weirdest TV Pilots
The TV show did not have to make it into a full seriesThis weird... thing centres on fictionalised versions of Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun, who live next door to a Jewish couple, Arny and Rosa Goldenstein I have never wanted to be a fly on the wall of the creators office more. Still it was pretty funny and the acting is not bad either
When you read that you probably think action, comic books explosions NOT A SITCOM but that's what this is if you want to get angry become a comic book fan and watch this it even skipped out big stars like superman in favour for heroes like the atom and martial man hunter. The only thing funny in this pilot is Flash's awful rubber costume.
Even though it had jack black one of my favourite actors and musicians this thing never made it to air maybe because the plot was stupid basically: The show featured Jack Black as Jack Austin, an astronaut who gains superhuman intelligence from sunlight after being exposed to solar energy. His wisecracking partner is Heat Vision, who also just happens to be a human mind fused with a motorcycle, voiced, of course, by Owen Wilson.
Speaking of dogs the Adventures of Superpup was set in an alternate universe populated entirely by anthropomorphic animals with heads far too big for their frail, human-shaped bodies. I was basically a parody of superman but that did not stop it from being.. weird but I would definitely seek out the pilot out of morbid curiosity.
With a career that ran the gamut from dramatic roles the late actor Peter Boyle had quite the resume. Buried way down is this 1990 ABC pilot where he played a deceased cop who comes back as a talking dog.Poochinski was mostly portrayed by a dead-eyed puppet with severe lip-syncing issues. And yes, there were dog puns, including the essential ‘putting the bite on crime’. YES THIS SOMEHOW GOT AIRED.
Actors who are clearly adults when that was a thing attending a high-school The plot featured two high-school screw ups (James MacDonald and David Arnott) who take up bounty hunting.
The show was rife with shoddy acting, clichéd dialogue and two leads who looked like they should’ve been complaining about the economy and their aching joints rather than calling each other ‘dude’ and one-upping teachers.
This one was actually pretty cool Before Get a Life, Chris Elliott wrote and starred in this one-off spoof for Cinemax in 1986, and you really need to see it. Dan Harmon actually listed it as one of the biggest influences on his work. It’s a hybrid of traditional family sitcom and cheesy action show in a way that feels way ahead of its time 30 years later.
The only thing I could find for this was that it had a funny opening scene. Even though it looks like the devs knew what they were doing from just the trailer No one is really sure why they stopped it.
Before Clerks: The Animated Series, a T.V. version of Kevin Smith’s hit indie comedy was created but mercifully killed before it could become a series. This is good because it had NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MOVIE.
In 1992, Universal Television produced a pilot for a series based on the great Sam Raimi film, intending for it to end up on the Fox schedule. Liam Neeson was replaced by Christopher Bowen, but Larry Drake returned as Robert G. Durant. Fox passed.
