Most Underrated Metal Bands

The Top Ten

1 Annihilator Annihilator is a Canadian thrash metal band founded in 1984 by vocalist, guitarist, bassist, songwriter, engineer, producer, mixer and mastering engineer Jeff Waters and former vocalist John Bates.

I totally agree that Annihilator should be the most underrated band on this list. They are extremely talented and sound like they should have been a lot more famous than they are. Never, never land is seriously one of the most complexed and greatest albums I have ever purchased, with amazingly underrated songs like "the fun palace", "stonewall", and the title track "never never land", which brought me to tears. Don't even get me started on the album "Alice In Hell." Jeff Waters is truly one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and annihilator has been full of musicians for whom the same can be said about. And the solo in "the fun palace" is absolutely eargasmic. It is their #1 greatest song in my opinion. Next would be alison hell. They also have many other honorable albums with amazing songs, such as "Set the world on fire", and "king of the kill", and many more. I don't know how I ever discovered annihilator, but this band has been a gift from God to my ears.

The best band I've experienced. They have so many good songs. And some are the best you'll ever hear. Jeff waters the best guitarist and most underrated. And the concert they perform is just too awesome and jeff never miss a note.

Obviously this entire list is silly and useless. Many of these bands had a lot of success. Also, the definition of underrated are Voivod and they are nowhere to be found. I guess metal fans are just as dumb and tone-deaf as pop fans.

The Fun Palace is probably the most underrated metal solo ever. Alison Hell is also a very underrated thrash song and is on par with many of the popular ones.

2 Iced Earth Iced Earth is an American heavy metal band from Tampa, Florida. It was formed in 1985 under the name Purgatory by guitarist and main songwriter Jon Schaffer and original drummer Greg Seymour.

Like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Jon Schaffer had a baby. Listen to their cover songs, listen the Blessed and the Damned double album to get a near perfect mix of what is Iced Earth. You can't not love the SUPER tight heavy riffs ands amazing vocals.

The most underrated band I know. They have many awesome songs. - IronSabbathPriest

They're one of those bands whose songs mostly sound similar, but they're all great, so I don't mind that much. - Songsta41

I agree - a very underrated band. It's sad because they have very good songs - well written and well executed. Songs with very well balanced doses of heavy and melodic, with great vocals. - Metal_Treasure

Matt Barlow has definitely one of the top 3 best voices. What a scream he can deliver and will be missed as he and Schaffer are the band.

3 Savatage Savatage is an American heavy metal band founded by the brothers Jon and Criss Oliva in 1978 at Astro Skate in Tarpon Springs, Florida.

The most musically powerful band I have ever heard, their music is truly breathtaking and atmosphere is purely incredible. EXTREMELY underrated

Savatage OF COURSE is the most underrated band ever. Have you heard Criss Oliva? There are so many respectuful musicians out there, people who made an impact and gave something to the world. Oliva is that something but never ever gets mentioned. His brother Jon. Great vocalist, composer. Even after Jon really talented guys took the helm of the Savatage ship and brush a masterpiece with their talents. Savatage is one gem of a band, it sadeness me that they are not more popular because they definitely worth it.

Hall of the mountain king should be used to resurrection.

Musically, one of the most unique and talented bands...ever. No other bands have had the ability to blend metal and classical themes to their music and have it sound so natural.

4 Dream Theater Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band from Boston, Massachusetts. The band was formed in 1985 under the name of "Majesty", only to change its name to Dream Theater later. more.

Dream Theater gets lots of recognition, they aren't underrated. - ryanrimmel

They are essentially a combination of Rush and Iron Maiden. What's not to love?!?!?!

This band is the epitome of talent in metal, people should support good music by dedicated musicians and that is exactly what these guys are.

Not much to say, their songs are extremely well written, and amazing work on each of the instruments, and no one gives them the credit they deserve

That's not true - in 2013 they were nominated for a Grammy Award and lost out to Black Sabbath. They are not underrated anymore. - Metal_Treasure

5 Metal Church Metal Church is an American heavy metal band. They originally formed in San Francisco, California in 1980 before relocating to Aberdeen, Washington the following year and briefly using the name Shrapnel.

Oh I remember these guys. They're the band that invented Thrash Metal!

Listen to beyond the black, just incredible. Don't like the voice? Listen to Watch the children pray. Badlands is amazing, and metal church is a great song as well. Gods of wrath is an absolute masterpiece and merciless onslaught is an underplayed instrumental song. As well as being an incredible band, barely anyone knows them. WHAT. A. SHAME.

This band is definitely underrated. They are known for "Metal Church" and "The Dark". I would highly recommend listening to their last three records. A Light In The Dark, This Present Wasteland, and Generation Nothing. They are great albums!

Even on an underrated band list they are underrated. Excellent Power/Thrash band. If you want to check them out, listen to their debut, easily their best album.

6 Deep Purple Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in Hertford in 1968. They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, although their musical approach changed over the years. Originally formed as a progressive rock band, the band shifted to a heavier sound in 1970. Deep Purple, more.

One of the fathers of Heavy Metal music

Underrated? Probably one of the best rock bands that ever exists! And known or heard (Smoke on the Water) by probably everyone on this planet who's got a radio. Deep Purple on a underrated list? NEVER

This band deserves every credit. - Userguy44

Really underrated, Number 1. While Deep Purple gets credits for their hard rock songs, they don't get enough credits for inventing the pattern of metal music as we know it now (non-bluesy rock music, mostly based on classical). Behind the riffs of Holy Wars and Master of Puppets you can hear classical music.

Their songs "Highway Star", "Hard Lovin' Man" and "Fireball" are widely considered as 'early speed metal' - "Fireball" was the first metal song with double bass drumming (in 1971 !). Without these songs - no speed metal and even thrash (thrash is speed metal mixed with hardcore punk). - Metal_Treasure

7 Tool Tool is an American progressive/alternative/post-metal band, that was formed in 1990. more.

No, they are overrated plus they suck. They are the most boring band of this generation.

If Bach, Beethoven and Mozart were alive, they would be listening to tool, as they make the most complex, yet beautifully compelling music today.

Most underrated band of all time; Stinkfist, sober, lateralus, hooker with a penis, forty six and two, ticks and leeches, etc. so many badass songs!

Tool is a great band, but they are NOT underrated in any way. Tool is an instantly recognizable band by any dedicated metal fan. Tool is, though good, very OVERrated.

8 Anvil Anvil are a Canadian heavy metal band from Toronto, Ontario, formed in 1978. The band consists of Steve "Lips" Kudlow, Robb Reiner and Chris Robertson.

After the movie " Anvil the story of Anvil" I quickly started buying up their records. They are my among my favorite bands now. Anvil are the most real metal you'll ever hear.

I've seen them live three times and I know why big bands didn't let them open for them. Anvil would blow 'em away!

Metal in metal, great album!

Inventors of thrash. Sure, Exodus and Metallica wrote the first pure thrash, but the stuff that influenced them was Anvil.

9 Chimaira Chimaira was an American heavy metal band from Cleveland, Ohio. Formed in 1998, the group was a notable member of the New Wave of American Heavy Metal scene.

The most amazing band on this list! Their riffs are just intense and they are like a modern Pantera with their groove metal/metalcore style.

10 Pro-Pain

Make war not love!

Great metal band should be much bigger

Mexicans are stupid and throw paper on the ground. Trump 2016!

Trump rocks

The Contenders

11 Sevendust Sevendust is an American heavy metal quintet from Atlanta, dating back to 1994. more.

Why are they not number 1? They are easily one of the best metal bands to come out of the 1990s. They are definitely more underrated than Tool. Sevendust is better than similar bands like Godsmack but they don't get half the attention.

Sevendust have about ten albums to their name, but have not gotten the same amount of atttention as other bands around them (like Disturbed). Worth checking out, as they have a wide selection of songs. - NuMetalManiak

100% sevendust is an underrated band

Just listen to them...

12 Diamond Head Diamond Head are an English heavy metal band formed in 1976 in Stourbridge, England. The band is recognised as one of the leading members of the new wave of British heavy metal and is acknowledged by thrash metal bands such as Metallica and Megadeth as an important early influence.

Definitely the most underrated Heavy Metal band off all time. They've got a lot of great musical masterpieces which are still unknown to the public.

I know them for the same reason anyone else does, the big metal bands cover Am I Evil all the time. But they have more than just that, check them out and you'll see they're more than just an old metal band. - Songsta41

They influenced Metallica and Megadeth. They make great music, but aren't even a little popular. They are just underrated

While I ADORE Metallica, no one knows Diamond Head except for covers they think Metallica wrote. - Brobusky

13 Blind Guardian Blind Guardian is a German power metal band formed in the mid-1980s in West Germany. They are often credited as one of the seminal and most influential bands in the power metal and speed metal subgenres. Heavily influenced by Queen, they use the technique of overdubbing. They also incorporate large more.

LMAO... how are they underrated when they're voted the best power metal band on this same site at the same time? - Joeljohns249

They are absolute legends who deserve to be in the top 10 bands of all time. I mean there are bands like metallica or slipknot who get elected into the top 10 but they are barely in top 30, and it makes me so sad. blind guardian and amorphis both deserve to be in the top 10

They are criminally underrated and unfortunately - on this list, too. They should be in the top 10.
They are brilliant, they're perfectionists - studio and live. They don't play some commercial metal or some easy songs. They play really fast and heavy speed metal (almost thrash), prog power metal with tons of complex arrangements, and recently - amazing symphonic metal. - Metal_Treasure

14 Fear Factory Fear Factory is an American heavy metal band that was formed in 1989. During the band's career, it has released nine full-length albums and has evolved through a succession of styles, including industrial metal, death metal, groove metal, and thrash metal.

Definitely underrated, they defined a brand new genre of music combining industrial music with crushing groove and death metal, and the first band who used clean vocals in death metal. Innovative and very underrated.

Listen to demanufracture album it's a kick ass band

15 Queensryche Queensrÿche is an American progressive heavy metal band formed in 1982 in Bellevue, Washington, out of the local band the Mob. They released their self titled EP in 1984, but didn’t gain notoriety until the release of their critically acclaimed album Operation: Mindcrime in 1988. As of now, they more.

This is the band that pioneered Progressive Metal. ‘enough said.

They used to be really popular with albums like Mindcrime and Empire. But after Dream Theater burst onto the scene with Images and Words, they pretty much lost the prog metal crown. - IronSabbathPriest

Nothing about Queensryche? Not many people listen to them ( at least compared to other bands).. - MusicalPony

Early on these guys realeased music that rivaled Maiden and Priest. Geoff Tate had a range that would damage your hearing...None better than he Halford. Check out tunes llike En Force, NM156, Take Hold of the Flame, Neue Regal, The Whisper, and Screaming In Digital...this brand of Metal was in a league of its own. MindCrime was the sleeper of the's an album that you listen start to finish. 90s had great albums too...too many great songs to list.

16 Sepultura Sepultura is a Brazilian heavy metal band from Belo Horizonte. Their first album, Morbid Visions presented a proto-black metal sound with Wagner Lamounier of Sarcófago. Sepultura's sound varies by the album, from thrash metal, groove metal, and even death metal.

Great band, but not underrated.

Their songs are masterpieces, but people dislike Max Cavalera's personal views. - Wopwop

Sepultura Are Hated Because They Are From Brasil.Jeez,Max Are Better Than Metallica.

This is one of my favorite bands because they are so raw and pure Metal m/.
There was a time that I thought of why are they not in the Big Four but now I realize that how more underrated you are the more real Metalheads you get. Haha

17 Death Angel Death Angel is an American thrash metal band from Daly City, California, initially active from 1982 to 1991 and again since 2001. Death Angel has released seven studio albums, two demo tapes, one box set and two live albums.

Listen to their album "The Dream Calls for Blood". Especially their song "Territorial Instinct/Bloodlust". It will blow you away.

One of my all time favourite bands and one of the most underrated in my opinion,I especially love the vocalist, he has a very unique sound which is rare in more modern thrash. I highly advise you check out some of their stuff, I recommend starting with the albums "Act III" or "The Evil Divide" (their most recent album). Some songs I would recommend are "lost", "father of lies" "The Moth", "the ultra violence" and a room with a viewc great alll round thrash band

18 DevilDriver DevilDriver are an American heavy metal band from Santa Barbara, California, formed in 2002, consisting of vocalist Dez Fafara, guitarists Mike Spreitzer and Neal Tiemann, bassist Diego "Ashes" Ibarra and drummer Austin D'Amond.

What the Hell!...
Well that's disappointing it's a great band with great songs and yet so low on this list

19 Black Label Society Black Label Society is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California formed in 1998 by Zakk Wylde.

Everyone knows zakk for his shredding and pinch harmonics.. but not many know him for his amazing song writing ability. Listen to his acoustic material like hangover music or book of shadows. Stuff is great

I think Black Label Society is really underrated, they are not very known even by many metal fans... the Zakk solos are really good and his voice is awesome! - rock2metal

Deserves so much more recognition! Zakk rocks

In This River - R.I. P Dimebag

How can you beat the voice of these guys?

20 Pinkly Smooth

I bet not even all A7X fans have heard of this. Their one album was mind blowing and had a really experimental and creative sound. The Rev was a true musical talent and it is demonstrated not only in A7X's songs, but in Pinkly Smooth's album Unfortunate Snort. A great band overall. - MetalFoREVer1228

RIP Jimmy! I always loved hearing your music, this one album for this band that you did really showed your crazy, but amazing, personality! Thanks for making this Jimmy!

Pinkly Smooth is much more then the band Pinkly Smooth is what happens when you give The Rev and Synyster Gates a pen

Agreed, pinkly smooth is one of my favorites on this list

21 Rainbow Rainbow are a British rock band led by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore from 1975 to 1984 and 1993 to 1997. They were originally established with Ronnie James Dio as the lead singer and lyricist. Rainbow were ranked No. 90 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. The band has sold over 28 million albums more.

Extremely underrated, one of the founding fathers

22 Kalmah Kalmah is a melodic death metal band from Oulu, Finland that formed in 1998. In less than a year after its formation, Kalmah was signed by Spinefarm Records.

There first three albums are absolutely stunning. Even still in 2018.

Very underrated indeed. Just listed to Hades, Heroes To Us or other songs like Defeat.

23 Sacred Reich

Very underrated.

Ignorance, The american way, Surf nicaragua pure thrash, 'nough said

24 Opeth Opeth is a Swedish progressive death metal band from Stockholm, formed in 1990 by David Isberg, who invited Mikael Akerfeldt into the band as a bassist. Isberg ended up leaving the band, which lead to Mikael becoming the band's vocalist, guitarist, principal songwriter, and driving force. Along with more.

One of the most innovative metal bands of all time. There are no bands that sounds anywhere near to Opeth. Their songs are a fine mix between heavy riffs and beautiful clean melodies. They deserve way more credit than they are getting!

Opeth has some of the best music I have ever heard in my life. Can be complex and intricate or simple and straightforward. Can be insanely heavy and brutal or calm and beautiful. It's progressive death metal that oozes with classical influence. They have some amazing guitar riffs and solos and Mikael Åkerfeldt's death growls are the best I've ever heard, and his singing is absolutely beautiful. How the man can be such a talented songwriter, composer, guitarist and vocalist all at once is beyond me. This band is pure TALENT.

The way Opeth mixes Death Metal with Folk & Prog Rock, makes them one of the most unique bands I have ever heard. Fronted by the brilliant Mikael Åkerfeldt, this band definitely deserves a listen.

They don't get the amount of fans they deserve

25 Alestorm Alestorm is a heavy metal band originally from Perth, Scotland. Their music is characterized by a pirate theme, and as a result they have been dubbed a "pirate metal" band by many critics and their fanbase.

Awesome heavy tunes mixed with the non traditional pirate theme. Too underrated.

26 Gojira Gojira is a progressive metal band from Bayonne, France. The band was known as Godzilla until 2001. Gojira is composed of Joe Duplantier on vocals and rhythm guitar, his brother Mario Duplantier on drums, Christian Andreu on lead guitar, and Jean-Michel Labadie on bass.

A growing sickness in the HEART! THE CURE IS SOMEWHERE IN THE SILENCE! That’s my favorite gojira song, Stranded - XxSEVEREDHUMANITYxX

One of the most talented band out there. They sound like no other; It's like you know that it is Gojira when you listen to one of their songs. Their musical lyrics are also so artistic and meaningful unlike another metal bands. Long live Gojira m/

Amazing. One of the only bands that can sound unbelievably heavy, tuned only one step down. And the vocalist plays rhythm guitar! If you listen to the songs you will see how difficult that would be!

This band sounds like no other. They have released five albums and still have had hardly any makmstream success. Each band member is awesome, especially the drummer. There is no shreddy guitar solos, there doesn't need to be. Gojira use the flowing if the actual song to make climaxes within each song. There is no instrument that really stands out as being the best part of a song. These guys are one of the best metal bands out there and deserve more support and sppreciation for their talent as song writers and musicians.

27 Candlemass Candlemass is an influential Swedish doom metal band established in Stockholm 1984 by bassist, songwriter and bandleader Leif Edling and drummer Matz Ekström.

These guys are definitely underrated, they have badass songs - havocmaker096

Yes, Yes, YES! - Doomed_God

28 Between the Buried and Me Between the Buried and Me is an American progressive metal band from Raleigh, North Carolina. Formed in 2000, the band consists of Tommy Giles Rogers, Jr.

Ac/dc? Tool? Stone Sour? Rammstein? A7x? This is a list of UNDERRATED BANDS. Between the buried and me are underrated as hell. They are just as talented as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Meshuggah or any popular progressive metal band. Their mixtures of progressive metal, metalcore and technical death metal are sublime. (by the way - Tool are one of my favorite bands, but they're definitely not underrated. Not at all. )

This band is like the apocalypse: fast, furious, and most of all, CHAOTIC. - ThatoneMetalhead

For all you people out there who don't know btbam or just don't listen to them well you are missing out. This is truly one of the best bands out there today. I listen to A7X slipknot disturbed and all those other mainstream bands but these guys outshine even those bands. They have some of the best talent to come to the metal genre in a long time. Seeing them live backs up everything I'm saying. They sounded better live than on cd which I can't say for A7x, definitely not disturbed slipknot Bullet For My Valentine and a bunch of other bands. If you wanna hear some amazing music and hear some originality then listen to btbam and prepare for your ears to rejoice. songs to listen to
1. selkies
2. the whole colors cd- every song is phenomenal
3. blackened cover
4. bicycle race cover
5. kickstart my heart cover
6. obfuscation
7. fossil genera
8. specular reflection - stone5206

29 Flotsam and Jetsam Flotsam and Jetsam is a thrash metal band that formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1981. The band currently consists of vocalist Eric A.

Well, I'm not sure they're better than Megadeth. I mean, Megadeth has a huge fanbase for a reason. But I believe Flotsam and Jetsam to be in the top ten thrash metal bands, along with the aforementioned Megadeth, Kreator, Metallica, Anthrax, Testament, Sepultura, Death Angel, Coroner, and Annihilator.

Their debut album Doomsday For The Deceiver is better than Peace Sells... But Who's Buying and Kill 'Em All. The lyrics penned by Jason Newsted are also great.

Kings of speed metal. Enough said.

The first album alone should put them in the top 10.

30 Volbeat Volbeat are a Danish heavy metal band formed in Copenhagen in 2001. They play a fusion of rock and roll, heavy metal and rockabilly.

I don't think they're underrated

Their sound it pretty mainstream and most of their stuff is not exactly metal, which made them very popular. I heard of them from a non-metal fan and it's not a good sign. - Metal_Treasure

A non metal fan is not qualified to say whether Volbeat is metal or not. They featured King Diamond in a song. - CostcoHotDogs

They used to be underrated. Now they aren't. But still aren't as recognized as they should. Their music is so good.

Nobody really thinks about these guys much, but the songs they write and amazing and should be checked out.

31 36 Crazyfists

Truly sad that I have to go all the way to page 4 to find this band. Such a unique sound and better than any "top charting" band today.

32 Dark Angel Dark Angel is an American thrash metal band from Los Angeles, California formed in 1981. Their over-the-top style (extremely fast, heavy and lengthy songs with lots of tempo changes, lyrics and extended instrumental parts) earned them the nickname "the L.A. Caffeine Machine". Although Dark Angel had more.

They weren’t around for long, but they made some great music.

33 Machine Head Machine Head is an American heavy metal band from Oakland, California. Formed on October 12, 1991, the group was founded by vocalist and guitarist Robb Flynn and bassist Adam Duce. They have received great critical success especially for their album "The Blackening" which is considered a modern metal more.

Severely underrated. Some people call them the true kings of groove metal and with good reason. Amazing band! - RogerMcBaloney

They're great, despite their two Nu Metal albums. They have serious unnoted tallent.

34 Type O Negative Type O Negative was an American gothic/doom metal band formed in Brooklyn, New York City in 1989. Their lyrical emphasis on themes of romance, depression, and death resulted in the nickname "The Drab Four".

Their melodic range always gets me. Definitely an overly underrated band. I suspect it's due to their self deprecating humor within their music that doesn't sit well with critics. This band is as humble as they are talented. Also, having an imposing gothic 6'6" Fabio as your lead guy wielding a bass strapped to him composed of heavy gauge junk yard chain link doesn't hurt... He truly stands out from the rest.

This is one of the best bands of Gothic metal I've ever heard and it's worth a listen.

Oh hell, it's one of my favourite bands ever!

Easily one of the most underrated bands of all time.
Most people just know Black number 1 & Christian Woman. Some know a couple more songs.
The kings of Gothic Metal did get some recognition in the 90s, but should have gotten a lot more..
Just check out: Gravitational Constant, Paranoid (Sabbath cover), Bloody Kisses, Too Late: Frozen, Suspended In Dusk, Be My Druidess, Red Water, Wolf Moon, Haunted, White Slavery, Everyone I Love Is Dead, All Hallows Eve, 12 Black Rainbows, Life Is Killing Me, Nettie, Anesthesia, September Sun..Hell, just listen to their albums and see for yourself!

35 Exodus Exodus is an American thrash metal band formed in 1979 in Richmond, California. Spanning a career of 37 years, Exodus has gone through numerous lineup changes, two extended hiatuses, and the deaths of two former band members.

Exodus is the second best thrash metal band after Slayer and they should definitely get some more respect for that. They have been around since 1980 and are also part of the pioneers of thrash metal. If any band should join "The Big Four" Exodus would be perfect for that. They have also released one of thrash metals best album, Bonded by Blood wich was released in 1985. - Grouse

Exodus is the Kreator of thrash (see what I did there)?

Yes I think exodus are underrated because we think of Metallica, slayer, megadeth and anthrax but it has been argued for many years that exdous is the first and creator of thrash metal

This band is slow, and heavy as all heck... but they make beautiful music that makes time seem to speed up. Especially their song Aeon.

Meshuggah + Yes = Neurosis. This band is one of my favorite discoveries of the last few months! - ryanrimmel

Neurosis? Jeez

41 Demon Hunter Demon Hunter is an American Christian metal band from Seattle, Washington, started in 2000 by brothers Don Clark and Ryan Clark. Although the brothers created the band together, only Ryan remains, since Don left the band to take care of his family.

42 Stratovarius Stratovarius is a Finnish power metal band that formed in 1984. Since their formation, they have released 16 studio albums, 4 DVD and 3 live albums.

They were even claimed to have progressive related sound... Yup no one knows about them by the way the Timo Tolki was ranked as one of the fastest guitar players, and their keyboard player who's brother is the drummer from hammerfall was ranked Number 1 for best keyboard player... They influenced Sonata Arctica and many Other power metal bands... I been a fan of them but never had the chance to meet someone who likes them or even knows about them! Very under rated everyone else on the list are well known! Specially in the USA

#1 most underrated metal band ever. Period

Most thrash metal bands are underrated.

The Best band ever!

44 Throwdown
45 Nuclear Assault Nuclear Assault is an American thrash metal band from New York City, formed after bassist Dan Lilker left Anthrax in 1984. So good and underrated Thrash - DejanKalinic

46 Primal Fear Primal Fear are a German metal band formed in 1997 by Ralf Scheepers and Mat Sinner. They play heavy metal, power metal and speed metal. Primal Fear remind of Judas Priest but Primal Fear are faster and heavier. They use twin (dual) lead guitars. Ralf Scheepers voice reminds of Rob Halford.

These guys are amazing and terribly underrated. Their sound is the purest form of metal music in 21st century. - Metal_Treasure

Primal Fear is that great example of pure Power Metal (they also stick to their roots, and didn't get off-genre unlike Edguy, who're more pop-rock now) while dabbling in Progressive Metal. Devil's Ground, Seven Seals anyone?

47 Destruction Destruction is a German thrash metal band. They are considered one of the "The Big Four" of the German thrash metal scene, the others being Kreator, Sodom and Tankard.

49 Vaakevandring
50 Mr. Bungle Mr. Bungle was an American experimental rock band from Northern California. Known for a highly eclectic style, the band often cycled through several musical genres within the course of a single song, including heavy metal, avant-garde jazz, ska, disco as well as funk.

The top three on this list are actually quite overrated. This is one of the most underrated bands ever and although their songs are fairly insane, they are masterpieces

People who voted here don't even know the meaning of the word underrated. They think this is a favourite metal band list.

One of the most creative acts of the 20th century

Mr bungle is really good, it need to be more popular
