Top 10 Best Movies of 2021

The Top Ten
1 Spider-Man: No Way Home Spider-Man: No Way Home Product Image

When the trailers first came out, I thought this movie was going to be pretty mediocre, but wow I was wrong. Usually, MCU films are full of tropes and cliches, that are to be fair, very entertaining. Lots of MCU movies were pretty average superhero flicks for me, but No Way Home is different. I'm not one to stick with the crowd, but I must agree with most other people when they say this movie is really good, and it far exceeded expectations. It's actually amazing how the movie is able to incorporate all these amazing special effects and surprises while still having a great cast of characters and consistent and engaging plot. This movie may be the 2nd best Spiderman movie ever created (I say that because Spider-Verse was created a few years back), and definitely the best movie the MCU has made thus far.

The best Spider-Man movie since Into the Spider-Verse. As a fan of Spider-Man, this gave me everything I wanted and more from a Spider-Man movie. Tense action, character development, and surprises galore (which you seriously have to see to believe) make this the best superhero movie of the year. 10/10

Major spoiler alert;
I really enjoyed watching this movie in cinemas. The action and the suspense in certain parts lived up to it's hype, while also being a real tearjerker at certain points, especially when Aunt May dies and when MJ and Ned no longer know who Peter is because of Dr Strange's spell.
19/10 definitely recommend

I already like the movie and I have not even watched it yet. I mean it has Tom Holland Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.

2 Zack Snyder's Justice League Zack Snyder's Justice League Product Image

This is the movie that should have been given to us in cinemas back in November 2017. And it's a damn shame this was snubbed in favour of a heavily abridged trainwreck that did no justice (pun intended) for the DCEU and everyone who was involved in the project.

To put it to perspective, this version of the film is a love letter to DC fans and it does a great job on that. It does have its issues, that's for sure, but one thing that I will acknowledge is that this may be the most satisfying movie of the year, or at least in terms of the circumstances that led to having this cut finally be a reality.

Best movie of all time better than Citizen Kane and Shawshank Redemption. Zack is the greatest director ever.

This is the best superhero movie I have ever seen. Zack Snyder you absolute genius!

This is one of the greatest movies of all time, would recommend it.

3 Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings Product Image

Excellent use of martial arts choreography. Loved every scene in this movie. The actors were great, the CGI was a bit too animated at times but realistic enough to portray the dramatic transitions and cuts from scene to scene, camera angle to camera angle. Everything was damn near perfect. Felt like a Jackie Chan/Bruce Lee Kung Fu Film from the late 20th century combined with MCU and anime subplots. 5/5 stars. Definitely on the higher tier of MCU Films.

This has wonderful Asian representation (though does there have to be a dragon?) and it is comedic with martial arts and the CGI is amazing! As expected from Marvel!

How is this not higher? Saw it in the theatres recently and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Um... Why isn't this higher...

4 The Suicide Squad The Suicide Squad Product Image

This movie really impressed me. Mainly because it's been a while since I've seen a big-budget Hollywood movie have the guts to be this ridiculous and outright weird. The movie clearly knows how silly and crazy it is, and it doesn't take itself too seriously. At the same time, it does have characters you care about and has plenty of surprisingly touching moments throughout the insanity that it throws at you. The characters in the movie are really what make it great, and I really like how each member of the cast plays off one another. If I were to compare it to any other comic book movies in terms of its tone and sense of humor, I would compare it to the Deadpool movies, but The Suicide Squad still has plenty of unique moments that make it stand out as its own thing. Watching this movie was just a very entertaining experience.

I'm blown away by this. It made a much better job than I expected. This time I actually love the characters and there's actually some emotional moments. James Gunn you genius.

Great movie! So many great characters, very funny, and a few appreciated emotional parts. I really like where DC is going right now with their movies.

Best movie of 2021. Should be 1

5 Dune Dune Product Image

This movie was INCREDIBLE! Everything from the cast, the effects, the sound, music, visuals! The music was so unique and it fit the movie perfectly! This movie took what's I say in my head when I read the book and showed it in a movie. Amazing 10/10

An absolute masterpiece of a movie. The story is phenomenal and faithfully adapted from the book, the cast does a fantastic job, and the visuals are the best I've seen in a sci-fi film since Interstellar and War for the Planet of the Apes. Definitely deserves to be near the top of this list, if not at the top.

Finally, we, the fans of Dune, have got a real film adaptation of this masterpiece.

Dune should easily be in the top 3. The Marvel bias kills rankings like these.

6 Godzilla vs. Kong Godzilla vs. Kong Product Image

This does not deserve to be in second place or higher, but it is a very good movie.

Man I can watch this all day if I had a choice it's so fun watching monsters brawl.

Mechagodzilla is definitely the best part of this film. My only criticism is the music...not as good as KOTM's soundtrack

Best movie of 2021. Would have loved to experience it in theatres.

7 Black Widow Black Widow Product Image

Psychic Jeane Dixon lied about the world ending in 2020. Covid 19 pandemic delayed big budget films to a different release. I made the right choice by not wasting 30 dollars to watch Black Widow on Disney Plus streaming. It looked better watching that Marvel film in cinema during the pandemic. Here is the review.

This took place just before Avengers Endgame. All I can simply say is that Black Widow is a good film. Don't expect this MCU film to win an Oscar for Best Picture. Scarlett Johansson is a great actress who can beat up the bad guys and save the day. The special effects were awesome. There were some scenes that made some references to Robocop and Transformers franchises. Even though Loki and Ultron have been defeated, there is a villain who wants to conquer the world with advanced technology and military weaponry. It felt like WW3 was about to break out. I mean, the plot sounded unrealistic at first. Disney likes to recycle the saving the world in an unrealistic way ...more

I just watched this movie yesterday, and it is a movie. I mean it kind of exists, and you can have a good time with it, but I don't feel that much about it.

Surviving throughout the COVID Pandemic, this film was very entertaining to watch. Acting was great, and I'm glad we got to see Black Widow one last time in her own film. The acting from the "father figure" was a bit ridiculous but still played off well with the rest of the cast. Great MCU film. 4.5/5 stars

Black Widow could've been better, but this is still a must-watch from Marvel Studios! Showing Natasha Romanoff's past, this is humorous, sad, and action-packed all in one film!

8 Free Guy Free Guy Product Image

This was a surprisingly good movie. I went to the theatres expecting something funny but not great, and I came out very impressed. Great acting from Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, and Joe Keery.

Amazing amazing amazing. Best film of the year by far. Hilarious in parts, action packed, what more could anyone ask for.

A perfect mindless movie, but also had depth to it.

Far better than what I've expected.

9 The Mitchells vs. The Machines The Mitchells vs. The Machines Product Image

I made such a deep connection with this movie, not only that I think the plot is bizarre but in a good way, it just has lots of humor and it never failed to make me laugh.
Also the protagonist is also LGBTQ+!

Great movie!
I finallly watched it on Netflix today and it lives up to the hype.
Also how is Cruella higher I thought it was extremely mediocre?

My favorite 2021 movie so far, and I think it will be hard to beat.

I saw this movies on Netflix and it was so funny!

10 Luca Luca Product Image

I'll admit, I came into Luca skeptically. I didn't know how to feel about the new "look" to Pixar's animation or that the film was released exclusively on Disney+ (something I felt that Pixar didn't deserve). But then I watched the movie, and after getting through a relatively dull first act, I fell in love with the story. The characters are beautiful and creative, the Italian Rivera is scenic and the perfect backdrop to this movie, and the coming-of-age story is one I hadn't seen covered in quite this way by Pixar. By the end, so many emotions had welled up inside of me that I lost all ability to think or have an opinion. This is a movie I need to rewatch and would highly recommend to anyone.

A great Pixar movie. The animation is stunning and the characters are sweet and likable. It wonderfully portrays the joys of being a kid. Sure, the movie did not have much of a compelling plot, but that did not make it any less fun to watch. It wasn't the best work Pixar has done, but Pixar definitely is not losing its touch. It's great. Go see it.

This is just a really cute film by Pixar, that doesn't break new ground, is surely a good time, with great animation, great humor, and some cool moments here and there.

I absolutely adored this movie! I loved how Pixar went for a more cartoony animation style, plus, this movie fuels my desire to go to Italy.

12 Don't Look Up

This is my favorite movie of 2021 now! The message is really strong, the story great and emotional, and there is some top tier humor. This movie is just incredible

13 No Time to Die No Time to Die Product Image

How is this so low? Not the best Bond film of all time but it isn't far off. Daniel Craig was exceptional and Ana de Armas' cameo was one of the best in cinema history in my humble opinion, absolutely spectacular and should be higher for this alone

This film has left me with a good note of ending Daniel Craig's role. Not only are the action scenes well done, but it also has a good story. James Bond in this film has a different side character of himself.

14 Encanto Encanto Product Image

Here is an absolute banger from Disney, that I think should be considered one of their best movies. The characters are amazing, the animation is amazing, the songs are masterpieces, and the story is very emotional! Definitely in my top 3 movies from this year!

I've haven't watched any movie for quiet some time now (let alone one by Disney) but after renting it for 2 days I've finally got to see Encanto so here are my 2 dimes.

Encanto is without any doubt one of Disney's bestworks of the current decade (maybe even of ALL TIME!). They manage to make every single character in the movie likable and well developed in personality (particularly Maribel and Abuela). Not a whole lot of movies are able to do this. I didn't cry (on the outside at least but the river scene really did tear me up a bit) but the movie is a rollercoaster of emotions combined with the excellent voice acting and plenty of memorable songs.

Disney is no stranger to magic but this movie nevertheless feels very fresh and unique especially that it's based on Colombian beliefs and culture which is definitely a huge leap for Disney's views on different ethnicities. As I've not seen much films teach a lesson much nowadays (save for MLP:A New Generation) this one hits ...more

OMG this is the best movie ever I have watched it a hundred times and can't stop singing We Don't Talk About Bruno!

It made you want to get up and dance with the characters and even try learning the songs.

15 Last Night in Soho Last Night in Soho Product Image

Literally the best movie. It was creepy and very cool. The performances from Anya and Matt blew me away. People say cinema isn't creative anymore, they just don't watch the right movies. This was *chef's kiss* mwah~!

16 Raya and the Last Dragon Raya and the Last Dragon Product Image

Disney finally has an Asian princess that's not a princess! She's a warrior that fights and looks like Katara from ATLA when she was younger! Badass!

The movie is fine at all, but the dragon looks like a ferret. I feel like it has a lot of potential if they made a sequel, IF RAYA AND BOON FALL IN LOVE, no. Just, no. But I love the animation and details. I think I would like it so much better if it ended when Raya and her friends turn to stone and they saw the Dragon jump flicker, and it ended there. I'm gonna vote this, because the rest of the movies I've like never seen, I've scrolled to 25… And I've seen two. So yeah I voting this.

This is just a really good kid friendly movie coming from a teen with a 2 year old brother and the only thing that Shuts him up is this movie and Go Go Cory Carson, Really a life saver for me! - Teen girl

Now that I finally saw this movie, I can officially say that it is okay. Like it's alright. Nothing impressive, but it's a good time.

17 Venom: Let There Be Carnage Venom: Let There Be Carnage Product Image

Not as good as the first one but still brilliant, hilarious, action filled and a very unique concept. Pure brilliance

18 Jungle Cruise Jungle Cruise Product Image

I was a bit skeptical to watch this at first, but overall, it's incredible and I love the romance, humor, and action.

I saw this in the theaters and the visuals are well done.

19 Nobody Nobody Product Image

The perfect anti-action film. Christopher Lloyd and Bob Odenkirk still kick A.

Best theatrical film of the year, period.

Pretty good movie.

20 F9 F9 Product Image

I've been a fan of the franchise since the first fast and furious so it's no doubt that I liked the unexpected surprises and twists in this one.

Well, it's been a very long time coming. Seriously, the psychic Jeane Dixon was wrong about the apocalypse happening in 2020. COVID-19 pandemic ruined 2020 which was supposed to be another year for Hollywood big budget blockbusters. Yes, movies were delayed due to the lockdown bullcrap which caused a massive shutdown. I finally waited. I'd rather not pay to watch a big budget film on streaming at all. I like cinema. Big screen is the way to go. Here is a review of Fast and Furious 9.

When I first saw the preview for F9, I thought it looked ridiculous. After watching it in a big screen cinema, I loved Fast and Furious 9. The fun part about the movie was the awesome CGI special effects, explosions, fast cars, spaceships, and the flipping truck. I mean Vin Diesel rocked. Chris Bridges and Tyrese Gibson were funny. John Cena from the WWE played a great portrayal of Don's brother. I'm not going put lots of spoilers at all, so guess what? Sung Kang's character Han Lue is back. That's ...more

21 Ghostbusters: Afterlife Ghostbusters: Afterlife Product Image
22 Mortal Kombat Mortal Kombat Product Image
23 Cruella Cruella Product Image

Probably Disney's best reboot. Unlike the others this one didn't tried to be so much it isn't, and it's simplicity helps it.
Emma Stone is Cruella that 101 Dalmatians never had.

Just saw it in theatres and it was the best thing ever. I'm now going to be obsessed with it.

Amazing and fashionable.

It was actually a lot better than I thought it'd be. I'd watch it again.
