Top 10 Best Time Travel Movies
While the concept of time travel has been a fantasy and a subject of scientific debate for centuries, it's in the realm of cinema that it truly comes alive.Time travel movies come in all shapes and sizes. Some are rich, romantic tales that span across decades. Others are thrilling action-packed adventures that catapult our heroes back and forth through time. And yet others delve into the intricate, complex web of potential paradoxes that arise when one tinkers with time, offering viewers a mental workout and endless discussions about the "what ifs" and "maybes" of such scenarios. There's a timeless allure to these stories, an enticing mix of fantasy, science, and philosophy that captivates audiences of all ages.
The movie that started my love affair with the DeLorean. When you were a kid, Marty was it. When you get older (I'm 34), you see that Doc had it, man. There is nothing anyone can say about this trilogy that hasn't been said before. All that's left are people's personal experiences with the trilogy. It changed my life.
It's funny, fast-paced, and educational. It states that you can change the past if it will result in a better outcome. Plus, it has a happy ending, unlike some other movies. A must-see for all time travel lovers.
This was the first one I ever saw, and it's also my favorite. Love the part where the train is pushing the time machine. Totally cool.
In the final installment of the trilogy, Marty McFly goes back to 1885 to stop an outlaw from killing Doc Brown in a duel and bring him back home to 1985.
I love number three as much as the other movies, but this one I find the most action-packed and detailed. Also, I like the fact that Marty and Doc Brown kind of switch places.
The first two are just masterpieces. Don't get me wrong, Part III was a great, great movie, but it just doesn't stand up to the originals.
I slightly do prefer Part II to Part I based on a split decision, though.
Marty McFly and Doc Brown go to the year 2015 to prevent Marty's kids from ruining the McFly family's reputation.
My favorite movie of all time! My second favorite: Back to the Future LOL. Reasons I prefer this sequel over the original:
The Humor: I find this movie a lot funnier than the original! Sure, it doesn't have as many famous quotes as the original, but that's only because it's a sequel. From the hilarious relatives of the main characters (Marty's pathetic but hilarious son, Marty Jr., Biff's psycho and idiotic grandson, Griff, etc.) to the scene of Marty finding the almanac only to discover it's a girly mag ("Oooh la la!"), the movie never fails to make me laugh.
The Stakes: The stakes are so much higher in this film than in the first and third ones combined. Instead of saving his family or Doc Brown, Marty must save every person in all of Hill Valley from Biff's reign of terror.
The Sci-Fi: This movie seems much more like a time travel/sci-fi movie than the first one. The first one is more of a fish-out-of-water rom-com. This movie is definitely structured as a mind-boggling sci-fi movie about paradoxes and other motifs.
The Darkness: This film is a lot darker and more serious than the first one, for reasons that don't even need to be explained. And yes, keep in mind I said this movie is also funnier than its predecessor. If it can be both darker and more serious, it's obviously superior.
The Climax: Unlike the first film's climax, which feels unnecessarily dragged out, this one's very appropriate in length. It starts with Marty fleeing for his life, bringing back the hovercraft we had all forgotten about, while Biff is trying to kill him. Then, after Marty saves himself (and everyone in Hill Valley by burning the almanac), Doc vanishes into thin air and it concludes with a mind-blowing ending to a mind-blowing film. It also foreshadows a great follow-up (despite its flaws).
A cyborg is sent back in time from 2029 to 1984 to destroy humanity by killing the future mother of its future savior.
This is not a movie about space exploration. It's the Netflix time travel movie of 2019.
Spock's attempt to prevent a supernova fails, resulting in the destruction of the Romulan homeworld. The captain of a Romulan mining ship blames Spock, and both the Romulans and Spock fall through a black hole to the past, creating an alternate reality.
Better than the first one and would go in my top 10 favorite movies ever.
This is the best movie I have ever seen. Forget Infinity War!
I would prefer to freeze time if I had someone like Kate Beckinsale. An okay film because of Kate Beckinsale, but Adam Sandler with his raspy voice and his coughing in this movie is annoying.
Adam Sandler is given a remote that lets him fast forward, pause, and rewind his life.
Big-screen adaptations of three classic episodes from the popular 1950s and 1960s Rod Serling television series, plus a new segment featuring a bigot who is transported into the lives of past victims of racism.
Are you guys high? Donnie Darko is amazing and it should be number one.
